White Ink Tattoo Problems

- White ink tattoos are getting popular but come with problems.
When fresh they are white however when the dermis heals they can fade and look like a scar especially if it contracts. Second they often look yellow from the epidermis over the ink.
Also if you hate it the lasers will not work on white ink. It reflects it so either they will oxidize to a black gray, just remain or fade on their own

I WANT it to look like a scar, I see that as a win.
the thing that’s really attracting me to get a white tattoo is the way that it would look like a scar, plus im on the darker side so maybe itll last longer
Lov u mate😂
Thank you for this video. ✌️
Basically all, all white tattoos, like this will be unrecognizably faded within a year or two at most.
True, many will fade but alot will only fade to a yellowish color or leave some residual marking.
Very informative
Hey Doctor,
First of all, thanks for your videos-they've been incredibly helpful to me.
I have a quick question about a tattoo removal. I have an 8 cm tattoo that's all black and grey. The artist diluted the grey with water, which was a relief to hear. I'm about to start the removal process, but I remembered that he used a little bit of white ink for some highlights. He confirmed that it was just for a few dots and that it's barely noticeable in the tattoo.
Is there a risk of oxidation in those white ink dots during the removal process? Shuld this be a problem or I should go forward?
Thanks!
Since it’s just small, white dots I would start the process the white dots could either just disappear on their own disappear with the laser or oxidize and if they do and you get the rest of the tattoo off which should be pretty straightforward since it’s black and water down black to make a gray and even if they oxidize if it’s just a few little dots to someone who doesn’t know it would look like freckles, so yes, in your instance, I wouldn’t worry about it
@@DrUndoTattoo thank you so much doctor
@@DrUndoTattoo Hey Doctor, I have another question after investigating a lot. I just have two tatoos , one is the one you already answered me and will remove and the other is really big 15 cm and mostly white. I didn’t know the tatooer will use white , I was really young wasn’t the intention. If I want to cover up that huge Tatoo (since removal I guess is not a viable option) should I laser it or not? Is better to cover up a white Tatoo that’s laser ? On the other hand, do you think lasers in the future will be able to target white ink?
Sry Noob question. Do artsts ever canvas an area in white or a lighter colour to then come back to put the design/image ontop of it?
Q2. I remember watching something relating to i think painting/staining aluminium and the size of the pigments white vs black. I think white being a larger pigment.
Does that play as role in how different colours layer ontop of each other? the density of ink required per section, and how a colour fades over time?
The density definitely has an impact for instance, cover up, tattoos take longer to remove because the volume of ink. However, I’ve never placed a tattoo and I can’t speak for what the artist do. I’m a medical practice that has a division for a tattoo removal.
@@DrUndoTattoo Thankyou for your time to reply. all the best.
all of the downs are also true for black tattoos but worse, so get your white tattoo if you want it.
U could just get a black tattoo over it. Problem solved
Can you expand on why laser doesn't work on white ink?
because the white reflects the laser and doesn’t absorb its effects
LTR requires the shattering of ink after absorbing the light energy from the laser. White absorbs nothing and reflects everything so you see the color white. Therefore it reflects the laser and does not shatter
That's why old women can't get white hairs lasered off their chin. They have to be black for the light to travel down it.
Afraid 😢
How can I remove my white yellow-ish tattoo?
White is a problem the yellow may respond to a laser 532 set for red ink. There is also a flush technique, its not medical so I have never seen it but its almost like they use a solution to flush out the ink. If small and you really need them gone a plastic surgeon can surgically excise them , it leaves a fine scar but its gone
I got white highlights in my tattoo and it looks yellow already only had it a few month will it go away or will I have to get another colour put in it
Follow it, white often fades in time, sometimes it looks yellowish
They look better on a blackout
That’s true. It get a certain snap over black but sometimes it becomes a yellow color and it’s hard to get out
What if youre black
if your black you don’t gotta worry cause you have melin something white peoples don’t have
It can be done and look nice but sometimes it becomes a yellow color and is not sensitive to the laser
Hey doc! Question for you. I am removing an all black tattoo that the artist mixed with white ink to lighten it to gray. Will that affect removal?
It may, when ever I see gray ink I hope they diluted it with water and not white ink. Sometimes the white just breaks down but other times the black fades and you see areas of a different color , almost a ash gray color. See how its going, if the white is making problems you can stop or continue hoping the oxidized white will eventually react like black ink
@@DrUndoTattoo thank you!!!
Instead Get a light purple tattoo to cancel it out when it does become yellow! Problem solved
Idk if this actually works 😭
@@zontzooit2415you’re onto something though
Color palette suggests it does, because when you get Platinum blonde hair, purple is used as an undertone to keep the white looking white.
Its okay to me
