I really like Tortoise's original. It's calming, ambitious, multi-layered, worth listening to in its own way. But Unkle just gives it so much more pop and life. More happens in less than half the time. It's calming AND riveting at different points, with so much clearer a structure. This is truly remarkable in its creativity. This is what all electronic music should aspire to be.

Man, great cover of an absolutely amazing song. "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" will easily be one of my all-time favorites albums for a very very long time...

I love the beats. Drumming would be the only instrument I ever got really interested in because there is just something about those beats that hypnotize me and motivate me to get up and get moving.

I have to see these guys live before they stop touring for good. Been a fan since the self titled "Tortoise" album. Good inspired rendition though. Keep it up!

tortoise est un groupe qui a bercé ma jeunesse. à la fin du concert, mon voisin s'est mis à pleurer. c'était tellement intense.

The original song is almost 20 minutes long, and switches up like 4-5 different times. The drummer for "Dead Boy and The Elephant Man" turned me on to this kind of music, and then I bought "Millions Now Living Will Never Die." I believe "Tortoise" is EXPERIENCED, like Hendrix, that's how they get their brainwashing like creativity. Good Stuff!!!

This is a really out-there and unique reworking of one of the most influential songs of the ‘90s. I’d like to know where these photos were taken. Chicago? I saw Tortoise live in New Orleans in 1998, but I don’t think they played either version of “Djed.” Oval was the baffling and tedious opening act, though I grew to enjoy some of their/his music later.

That's true. But you could actually divide it into three our four movements, sort of. The remix really has not that much to do with the original, except that the samples were taken therefrom.
It's the first track on the "Millions now living will never die" album by the way.
