  • Run through from Standard, Stage 1, 1+ and Stage 2 showing differences in hardware and software. For the test, we used an Airtec Intercooler and Scorpion catless downpipe
    BMW M2 2016 running the N55 BMW engine, with slight changes for the M2 model.

    Edit the title word from "exact" to "extract"! Simple edit, but then this video can be found more easily! I believe that was the word you were after.

    Nice video WG Motorworks. Good work. I wouldnt compare the n55 in the m2 to the 135i though. Might be the same block but the internals are alot diffrent. Its got the s55 crank and s55 forged pistons. Extra oil cooler and a load of other bits and bobs done to it. So you cant really say its already highly tuned from a 135i because this is a better engine setup for the extra power which is safer for more power and further tuning but yes I guess its still an n55.

    In my opinion, and I own a 66 plate OG M2, the power gains are not worth the expense or the hassle.
    The N55 in this particular version, is not a great engine for extracting more power.
    My previous car, an M140i, was a tuners dream, the B58 is easily tuned and gets massive gains.
    Standard my M140i made 336bhp (don't believe all the BS about the B58 making 360+ from standard, it's easy to inflate dyno figures). A remap saw 411bhp/576nm incredible gain.
    I then had a Wagner 200 cell cat fitted, and it made 455bhp/634nm again, incredible gain. I had xHP3 mapped to the ZF8 box, and the car was a missile (in a straight line).
    It passed the first MOT, but the 2nd and 3rd (with the 200 cell cat), it would not pass emissions, and if I didn't have a friendly MOT tester, I would have been fecked.
    The OG M2 isn't about massive power, it's qualities lay in it's suspension, handling, steering, etc.
    If you fit a decat, it will not pass an MOT, and unless you can get a dodgy tester to pass it, you will be in a whole heap of stress. All for 17bhp which you wont even notice in real terms driving it.

    that is very cool! good job. but does it pass emission? and would that affect the clutch if it was a manual (would it affect the daily drivability of it) ?

    Good video thanks. I'm convinced I can feel power loss on back to back pulls when on a spirited road run in my N55 M2. Car cools a bit then it takes off like it's got meth injection! Can you get a shirt mic for future as lots of background noise? Lighting was great though and a good camera it seems you are using.

      Is your M2 tuned? Worth getting a cooler as a first mod!
      Taken on board, still early days recording, and bought a mic after this video ! :)

      Not not tuned. Doing full bolt ons just got intercooler to buy next thinking the do88 one. Have got MST turbo inlet (V2), forge charge pipe, turbo smart plumb back diverter valve and milltek 300cel sport cat (already installed).

      Oh I just realised I bought the charge pipe and diverter valve from your eBay store! Do you think charge pipe diameter/flow matters a great deal? Cheers

      I did do88 FMIC, MST V2 turn inlet, forge charge pipe and Turbosmart plumback diverter valve. Car made 30hp more at top end right before redline. Car makes boost much faster and breathes so easily now. No heat soak and sound is increased sounds like a dragon now! Feels like it's been mapped.

    Hey, is an exhaust useless on these cars if you got a downpipe already ( performance wise)

      The stock exhaust is not 'restrictive' at this level of power, not saying a system would not see gains - just the stock bore / flow is fine for turbocharger output
