  • Thanks to MMR Performance for lending us their M2 Competition Demo car for Eventuri Development.
    As part of the Eventuri development the M2 Competition is run on the dyno, stock and with various prototypes. We took the chance to give you a look at the M2 Competition and what power it is making stock, along with comparing it to its S55 sharing brother the F8x M3/M4, and the standard M2 with the N55 engine, in stock and Stage 1 tuned form.
    **The video shows a prototype Eventuri system fitted, but the runs were done with stock airboxes. The car is also fitted with Bilstein Clubsport suspension and MMR DCT Paddles.

    Really interesting video guys, I was told by an owner in the US his M2C was pushing out just over 440bhp, I took that as gospal and used those figures in my review. Since I've been hearing exactly what you discovered. Looking forward to getting mine, hopefully unlock that initial power restriction asap. Cheers and keep up the good work!

    • @EvolveAutomotive
      @EvolveAutomotive  5 лет назад +15

      Thank you Joe. The issue with the US is that they use Dynojet machines over there and they read higher than most other dynos. Usually by about 11-15% which would explain the 44-450 BHP figure they are talking about. Enjoyed your video too. We need to collaborate on one :-)

      US dyno always read about 8 to 10% higher than in Australia/UK. It seems to be a calibration and equipment issue that is accepted over there. Hence the dynojet comment above. The issue is so consistent that we call it "American hp" when discussing tuned or dynoed cars. A very well known issue in the Evo, Subaru, Skyline communities.

      @shanescarlife 5 лет назад +1

      Could it be that his M2C had an aftermarket tune on it? Here in Canada, the M4C is listed at 444bhp, and since both cars use the S55 engine, i dont imagine it would be too difficult to get the M2C up to 440

    Interesting note about the traction in the earlier S55's. I have a 2016 S55 (F80 M3) and that is exactly the reason I have not updated to the latest ILevel version for the S55. The newer mapping feels too tame and I love the violent feeling I have in my car right now :) That said, awesome video guys. Good comparison between the S55s. Since I am very much interested in the durability of the powertrain I wonder how easy it is to unrestrict the stock M2C so you get to the power level of the stock M4C? As far as I understood it is only the 5000+ rpm area to be modified.

    I have seen many videos on youtube, which shows m2 comp not really fast on straight as it should be. Also mentioned the air flow for cooling is the problem on m2 comp., less air flows through front facia on m2 comp. than regular m4.
    whay do you think the straight line performance different that much? once m2 comp. tuned to original m4 software (theoretically) would it be perform equla as the m4? thank you

    • @EvolveAutomotive
      @EvolveAutomotive  5 лет назад

      Stock the M2C has a much worse intake design as they blocked the grille fresh air scoops. This will have an effect on the power it can make, especially once the engine is hot.
      The M2C also weighs slightly more than the M4, so that’s a consideration also.

    • @fastanfun
      @fastanfun 5 лет назад

      thank you for your quick reply. if the only restriction is the grille fresh air scoops, what is your solution for that? other than this issue, only difference between m4 comp vs m2 comp is the software, is that correct?

    • @EvolveAutomotive

      The Eventuri intake was designed so no modification was required to the car itself and has closed ducts to keep the engine bay heat out. You could modify the panel cutting the openings open to allow more fresh air in to the Intakes.
      In theory it would be similar yes. If both cars had OPFs.

      I believe they changed the curve when they released 2017 Comp version of the M3/4. But, the cars produced more power and consistently in the mid to upper rev range. Hope that makes sense to ya.

    Interesting video thank you. The M2CS seems to have the M3/M4 S55 calibration to give it the full 450bhp. Can this tune be applied to an M2 Competition? I think this would be the sweet spot for UK roads. It bugs me that above 5000rpm the M2 competitions performance flat lines when you want to wring it out. Cheers 👍🏻
