Stef sorry the current M2 and M240i has the same engine.. just slightly tweaked chassis will not make a car an M car.. M140i is faster than the current M2.. shame.. next M2 will be the real deal.. bloody stop fluffing around sell your M2 and buy the new one or at least get an M140i .

What it's all about. BMW make desirable cars for old-school drivers. I used to love Ford's performance models and have had STs and an RS, but I tried a BMW a few years back and my head was turned and loved it so much I had to get back in one and now own an M140i SE. Well done BMW, but we are watching to see what you make of the new 1 series performance model for 2019.

It's good to see car manufacturers are listening to the consumers although I agree with the previous comment. The additional options now available on this new competition M2 should have been made available from launch. Lacking those options were some of the main deciding factors that made people chose a later model similarly priced M4. This new M2 looks to be the closest in driving experience to the E46 M3.
The M2 shoulda came out as a competition from the begging in 2016 with that s55 engine and not the n55 tuned in my opinion
na, I prefer better sound any day over an extra 30 plus horsepower.
This makes M2 among the real M division. I liked earlier M2 but never thought about getting one as it felt something was still missing. Not anymore. And M2 CP costs only $4,400 more?! Feel sorry for all current M2 owners...

Good car just doesn't sound as good as the original M2. But will definitely recommend getting it. beautiful beast !

I ordered a black M2C with the manual gearbox. It's finally on a ship somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic right now, on its way to the states. Which is why I'm trying to fill the void by watching YT videos as I impatiently wait. It's not working...
I’m seriously thinking of buying providing the dealer network treat my properly this time. I’ve been trying to buy the previous M2 however offered ridiculous residuals against my virtually new M240i. Messed around by my supplying dealer in Maidstone.

Kia of all people, they copy car designs and spend the millions they save on trying to add stuff to the package.
Although the M2 is not considered a true M-Car, it’s entry level and low cost is appealing to younger drivers that can’t afford a true M-Car. Now with the upgrade to the Competition pkg. this small sports car is knocking on the M-Car door looking to be a True M-Car.

Thank you BMW for a slap to the face to current M2 owners. You come out with the M2 in 2016, then M2 LCI in 2018, then discontinue that car and come out with this immediately afterwards. People wait a long time for the "old" M2 and they literally now get to look at a car that has everything that should have been on the original and if its true the price will be very close to "old" M2 price, shame on you. I traded my M2 in already after less than a year ownership and got my dream car, so thank you for that. Lessons learned here, will be careful next time I shop BMW.
That's how the entire fucking economy works. Every product on any market has a predetermined and expected life cycle... deal with it!
Btw, The 2018 model facelift came out 2017. But I wouldn't be all to devestated about it if I were you. The S55 engine suffers form the crank hub issue making it hard to tune and prone to fail unexpectedly.
Dr.Mabuse I agree with you about the economy and predetermined life cycles. I guess I would have expected with more a normal life cycle of 4-5 years or a competition package option like on M3/M4 for the M2, but not a completely new car, discontinue the old M2, and offer it for almost same price. That will hurt the resale value of current M2 a lot and that mattered to me as I put very few miles on my cars. I do like the S55 engine. I really wanted the M3 comp package, but price was too high so more or less settled for the M2. After seeing this slap, I dealt with it by getting rid of mine before the bottom drop a out on its value and got my dream car. So I guess everything really did happen for a reason here.
What dream car did you get?
Dr.Mabuse Dodge Challenger Hellcat, 6-speed manual. I owned a Challenger Scat Pack Shaker before I got the M2, but have tried 3x to try to get hellcat and failed each time until this last time. I gave up on it and that's why I looked at BMW, but wanted an M3 until I saw $88k asking price. They had the M2 in the showroom floor, and was kind of an impulse buy, I regretted some, but when I found out about how they are fairly rare, etc, I felt better. Than I saw this new model come out less than a year after I got mine and felt kind of crushed, so went back to my original plan which I should have stayed with from the beginning.
It's really a cool looking car. I like the Charger aswell and had serious thoughts about getting one of them my self. Sadly Dodge left the european market to expensive and shady importers. A new Demon cost around $210.000 here and Hellcat SRT $95.000. Despite the horsepower I can't honesly say it's worth it. But I hope you get more value from your dram car. Enjoy it and drive safe!

Phil Sadler ok so if a women is taking her kids to school she doesn’t need a 600hp RWD sedan?? Get a 528 with awd if you’re worried about that. If you buy a RWD super sedan and complain that it’s too powerful then get a lesser models that’s why they exist. Furthermore if you want awd so bad by an m235i. Leave the M’s RWD as that makes a more balanced, better car. Awd adds weight, raises center of gravity, adds complexity and raised ride height. All of those things make for a bad sports car. Want a straight line car then go buy an AWD AMG or Audi

Tsim Tsim Where did u learn that? No it doesn't weigh as much as the m4. You have to compare the standard starting unit in both models. If both are manual and have no options the m4 is 115 lbs heavier in north america.
