Strange - Buying Jewelry from India

During our travel in India, we visited a genuine Indian jewelry store. In Indian jewelry store one is seated down and offered a beverage (coffee or Fanta, etc). You describe to the store staff what you are looking for and they start bringing you options to look at. You comment on what you like or don't like and they go and find another set of items for you to look at. It is a very pleasant experience. It is similar to a Western stores that are for very wealthy customers. The difference is that in India a middle class Westerner is considered a wealthy customer.
