I love. My husbands grandmother crocheted us the most gorgeous gown and all of our children used it. And she's passed now so it means even more that we can pass it down.
I got chills when you said it was blessed by PJP2! My mother in law made a boy romper out of scrapes from my wedding dress that both my boys were baptized in. She even made matching shoes.
Thank you for sharing this idea! I had all 3 (a girl & twin boys) of my babies during Covid & we are only now getting ourselves back into church. I always dreamed of having a baby in my arms in a beautiful christening gown & I’m so sad that they’re too big for one, but I love the idea of making little vests & ties & bows, etc for all of them.
I love this idea!! What a wonderful heirloom.
Thanks
Not only is the baptismal gown amazingly beautiful, but this idea is beyond precious, significant, and heartwarming! love love love
Oh my goodness! I love this idea!!! My mom saved my baptismal dress and my two daughters used it for their baptisms. ❤️
That is so sweet! I love that!
What a beautiful gown and hat! I think it's a wonderful idea.
My friend did this and she hand embroidered each of her children’s name inside on the slip of the gown. Now, her children are grown and her grandchildren have used it and their names are embroiled on it. Amazing family heirloom.
How special!! That dress is SO beautiful your mom really did an amazing job..and way cool about the JP2 ribbon as well!! So pretty thanks for sharing. Also love the idea about all the kids wearing the same baptismal gown.
Stunning! You should share a picture of your in your dress!
I love this idea! It's so special that your mother could make it for you! I wore my mom's dress for my wedding because she had passed away five years before I got married and I wanted to honor her in some way.
What a beautiful way to honor her!
I see it as a beautiful visual representation of one of the fruits of the sacrament of marriage flowing into the sacrament of baptism so beautiful and blessed and how amazing that your mom included the blessed ribbon 💖💕💖💕 excuse me while I wipe my tears this is so beautiful!!!
What a wonderful idea! The dress is gorgeous!!
Thank you:)
i need to tell my wife about this. when one day we are blessed to have children.
I love that idea. The dress came out beautiful.
My mother turned her wedding dress into 2 first communion dresses for my sister and me. Other girls in the family also wore them!
Such a lovely idea!!!
What a beautiful dress, and blessed by a Saint, Pope John Paul, that is great.
God bless ur family, and also you.
Beautiful.
That is absolutely stunning!
I did this with my wedding dress, my 3 kids got baptized in it, including my son. I just got a new sewing machine, taking this up as a hobby.
So beautiful!
My mom bought me a baptismal gown for my first. It is a plain linen dress (long and with Big shoulders like yours) but it is just plain with some Irish thick lace on the bottom. Then when I had my daughter, I bought some embroidered fabrics and sewed a skirt that I just tied around it like an apron. So for my boys I have the "plain dress" and girls I'll have the fancy one.
That is a great idea! Making them a little different for the boys and girls:)
Awesome...
That is so beautiful!
a great idea!
Gorgeous
Awesome idea...
I love this idea.
I did this with my wedding dress and keep it in a box, with tissue paper but also with photographs of my wedding and the christenings along with names and dates. Maybe in 100 years time future generations will like that.
awesome Ill have to put the photo in the box too, great idea
My auntie did this same thing
I think it’s a very sentimental idea
The dress is so adorable
Can you show more of your wedding?
Here in India only Anglo Indians used to wear wedding gowns and I have heard of them cutting it to make baptismal gowns too. These days other Christian communities in India are giving up wearing their traditional attire for weddings and choosing the white wedding gowns. Yes and very recently boys are wearing little shirts and trousers or suits instead of the traditonal baptismal gowns. One reason is because babies are not being baptised as infants in the arms. They are baptized after a year or more even.
I love this. 💝
Great idea!! Too bad all my kids are already baptised. This would also be great for a first Communion gown or confirmation dress!
I wanna do this with my dress and it came with a scarf with it
Beautiful idea! There is an organization here in a suburban neighborhood that uses wedding dresses. Check out Rest in his arms angel gowns on Facebook
Pray the Holy Rosary.
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
My mother made our baptismal gown out of excess material from when she made her wedding dress
How many layers and what are the other fabrics that you use?
I thought you were holding up your wedding dress, and I was thinking, “wow, she must be small...”
lol :)
With respect asking, Why did you baptized your boys with a dress?
It might be a midwest thing but all the baptisms I have been to all baby's are baptized in dresses:)
Same, it's not really a dress, just a gown. I guess it goes back to the olden days when boys wore gowns all the time. The little silk romper things for boys baptisms are a relatively new invention.
What a beautiful gorgeous and inspiring idea
