RA1's Allies had actually already turned the tide with conventional weapons well before the Chronosphere is made available in the last mission. With their fleet on the Volga facilitating a breakthrough. It's in RA2 where the two sides have naval parity, and the Chronosphere is vital to getting past the frontlines.
I assume the missiles detonating randomly after killing a target represents the system launching the next salvo before confirming whether the target was destroyed, and then self-destructing them to free up the guidance channels rather than attempting the unreliable process of re-targeting a weapon mid-flight? This game has a surprising amount of attention to detail
It's more just the rockets fire fast enough that more volleys are sent before the first hits so the last volley continues to fire and then explodes eventually. Same thing happens with the Dreadnaught, it fairly regularly fires another volley after it's target is dead because the code line that makes it fire activates just before the target is registered as destroyed
The technical answer may just be that if the missiles don't self destruct after the original target dies, some spaghetti code may accidentally let the extra missiles target a stray airborne unit half the map away, the entire thing was built upon the same code from the first game back in 1995 where a glitch could cause a missile trooper or a grenadier to fling projectiles from one end of the map to another What you're describing may all be technically accurate, but under the hood things may be a little more straight forward than what you expect
Aegis Cruiser is such a weird unit, like it shreds the most dreaded air unit in the game but it can't attack anything other than air and you can only build it in certain maps due to it being a naval unit.
Probably because the unit is still on the tile when it explodes. If they get in the water fast enough, they'll be fine. If not, they are registered as being in the blast area?
@@GreenElf You notice this is also the case when c4'ing shipyards - I find that if you are fast you can micro them away from their deaths if you get them to travel in a direct straight line away from the blast. I believe this to be a c4/ building / amphibious type glitch .. a very odd one at that
Many people believe the Aegis to be the most efficient AA naval unit but this is not the case. You can see that the Aegis doesn't have these weaknesses: *1.) High Rate of Fire 2.) Ability to Fire whilst Moving 3.) Deal Large Amounts of Damage* _Rather it's undoing is akin to target selection_ *The Aegis commonly OVERSHOOTS it's targets* Westwood endeavoured to allow the engine to express diverse target selection capabilities of certain units however did not create enough depth in the engine to allow it to shine to it's fullest potential. This is why you see in this video the Aegis is still firing at the same target as it is killed. The target often has an extra 4 missiles being launched at it by the time it dies. If Westwood had chosen to add VHPScan=Strong then the Aegis may have a change to stand up to the Sea Scorpion.
@@kevinlow69420 you can mod it to be more effective but you won't be able to mod it to aim and shoot at multiple different targets simultaneously. (Not without a lot of hackery that makes it almost not worth it)
Aegis Cruisers are strong as hell, but they are pretty inefficient with their DPS with weaker targets. They waste a lot of shots and time targeting weaker units.
i think your stest is still not right. they are still not technicallly angry, when you hand selected a unit, they attack rate is much higher (i.e. the beginning of your clip)
I really cannot find any use for the Aegis, it is kinda useless to me since Soviet only got KIROV as Air Unit and except Skirmiss mode, the only thing I have see this ship do in Campain is shoot down the rocket from Dreadnout and Boomer This is just my opinion
they protected it from literally dozens of Kirovs and other aircraft virtually nothing actually made it back. They would be utterly ludicrous if they weren't doing so much overkill on their targets.
That must be the most tactically crutial firehydrant in the entire world.
Everyone either try to take it out or protect it at any cost possible.
😁😁😁
not really he needed a target so that he can test this and make a vid.
The fire hydrant is in the middle of the ocean so it has access to more water in case a fire breaks out 🔥🔥🔥
The aegis? It's always targeted first?

I am wondering about a crew's ears that be able to stand against the Aegis' missile noise.
Meanwhile in kirov airship:
Whats that sound?
The problem with this cruiser is that instead of spreading theirs missile evenly , every single cruise focus fire on a single target .
Yeah, a good multi target capabilities is a dang impressive algorithm.
I like the missile patterns that the aegis cruiser makes, i wonder if the "after kill random missiles fired" of aegis cruiser hit the air units?
never thinked about that, good question
This is probably the most important Hydrant in the world

if 20 of them were already that broken enough, just see what happens when you micro them by spamming the attack button on the target OWO

dont forget you can manually target with aegis cruisers to increase fire rate drastically
I don't think it increases fire rate...
IIRC, elite Aegis Cruisers fire 3x missiles when you manually target.
@@Kira121086 no it does. manually ordering attacks with an aegis dramatically increases fire rate. even more so when elite
Only an anti air beast if you have water on the map. I wish modders would make an amphibious version lol, but I guess that would be too op huh
Closest thing to that would be a battle fortress loaded with elite guardian GI or a squad of elite IFVs
The amount of "overkills" those Aegises cause is making me sad tho : (
You know, you could've put the Aegis Cruiser into Patrol Mode. Then it would Manual Attack automatically.
A walking no aircraft zone😆
i know, but more movement=game engine struggles more=more frame drops
