@thethirdbill but for real tho. We've all seen so many reacts and first impressions to ST (and granted this is more of their discography than people do at once), and this is probably the most spot on and concise read of it that I've heard.
Many people get a small piece of the different facets of it correct, but not usually the entire summary and artistic approach, lore, and personal/emotional core of the "story" so quickly.
aqua regia is a chemical mixture that can melt gold. which is super interesting bc a few songs before this one on the album vessel says "i'd turn my walls to gold to bring you home again"
Yes! I noticed this too and have taken Aqua Regia as a warning, like “I built these walls of gold for you and now I can melt it all down” thoughts? Oh and the “putting down the roses, picking up the sword” he’s ready to fight back?

The fact that almost every conclusion you drew was spot-on necessitates going back to the beginning of the discography and going through the entire story. It's a whole ass journey.

I never would've expected you to tackle Sleep Token, but I couldn't be happier. The three albums are a trilogy, and if you ever want to do a deep dive, I highly recommend starting from Album 1 Track 1.

Okay, some explanations. To start, the singer is Vessel. The drummer is II or 2, the bass player is III or 3, and the guitarist is IV or 4.
But back to the lore. He is right, these songs, called Offerings, are for the entity called Sleep that is the deity they worship. The fact he was able to get that from the lyrics is wild lmao
The lore is super interesting and I'm not 100% sure about it but I highly suggest looking it up. Its really cool
Other Sleep Token songs I reccomend are Rain, Granite, Dark Signs, Vore, Atlantic, and Like That.

Dang this was awesome. It was crazy how you picked up on so much of the lore purely from the lyrics and nothing else. If you're planning a part 2, I would highly recommend Ascensionism and Sugar. Though honestly Sleep Token's whole discography is immaculate.
i think that you would LOVE analysing Atlantic. its singlehandedly THE MOST BEAUTIFUL song ive ever heard. please do a part two where you include atlantic.

As soon as you mentioned how long the last song was I was immediately like "Oh, so Take Me Back To Eden" haha. It's the longest song of theirs. Sleep Token is a lot of fun to dig into and analyze, there's so many connections between songs and references to different things! Though I won't go on about that too much. They don't actually have a ton of music videos, the other ones are for Thread the Needle, Calcutta, Jaws, and The Love You Want. None of which are on their newest album (the first three are, in fact, all from before their first full album (Sundowning)), though I do enjoy each of them. A lot of the Lore is very loose, each person bringing their own viewpoint and interpretations to it, but you nailed the religious aspect of it very quickly! A friend who both likes Sleep Token and watches your channel suggested I watch this, you have a fun energy I'll check out more of your videos!

Each of you conclusions were so good and are so accurate to the lore we have. The story REALLY comes together from Album 1 track 1, and to follow the journey all the way through is such an experience. Loved the reaction!

Listening you how you interpret the songs and figuring stuff on your own is so good. Because you're very right about a lot of it. Vessel, the lead singer is the vessel of sleep the ancient Eldritch deity at the center of the cult of sleep token. Also, no one ever does bloodsport in the videos like this let alone the from the room below version which is my favorite sleep token song of all time.
I am so excited every time I see someone discover them! They are amazing, Vessel is the singer and in the studio tracks he does everything. He writes the music and lyrics, plays all the instruments but the drums, does the vocals and produces the music. Then II does the drums and he is insane talented. Then on live performances they are joined by III, Iv on base and guitar and the Espera which are 3 female back vocalists.
DEFINTELY listen to the albums in order, it lays out an EPIC story of life, love, hurt and then healing that by the time you arrive at Euclid, it will heal something in your soul.

SLEEP TOKEN!!! So glad you decided to check them out! They’re genuinely one of the most unique bands I’ve personally found, and Vessle’s lyrical abilities are unmatched.
If you plan on checking out more of their music, I would personally recommend going in order of the three main albums.
1) Sundowning
2) This Place Will Become Your Tomb
3) Take Me Back To Eden
There’s actually a lot of musical references to earlier ablums in a lot of TMBTE! I have also personally found that going in order adds a lot to the experience. It’s so exciting to find more people check out ST and join us Sleepy Heads, WORSHIP !!!
Also, for anyone curious about Sleep Token’s “lore” and culture: Vessel #1 (the vocalist and main writer for the band) was approached by a deity named “Sleep” in a dream. This eventually led to Vessel walking into the ocean (as seen in “Fall For Me”) and becoming the Vessel we know today to assemble a band and spread Sleep’s Bible of sorts. This is why “Worship” is commonly used among fans, as the whole thing is seen as a sort of cult!
I also think it’s worth mentioning that while each song can definitely be read as an offering to Sleep, the songs are also very much written from a personal experience. That being said the band has always encouraged fans to interpret each song personally, so don’t be afraid to give your own thoughts on songs !
oooh if you're like rock and metal you've got to try the nova twins! theyre a black british girl duo who's sound i really love. theyre listed as nu-metal but apparently they do a lot of interesting genre bending, which idrk much about but their supernova album is really dynamic in sound and tone!

Really enjoyed your analysis of these songs. Sleep Token, in my opinion, has one of the best discography’s of all time. I would highly recommend starting from the beginning and working your way through their albums! I know us worshippers would love to see that. Anyway, great video and instant sub :)
the over-arching theme of the music is talking about an abusive/toxic relationship and loss/grief and there's some people who believe that the songs are talking about Sleep and vessel's relationship with Him (in the one written interview Vessel referred Sleep he/him but some people think Sleep is a goddess and not a god (which is fine bc everything is very vague)), and there's also some people that think the songs are about a past relationship vessel had and the songs are written to Sleep as opposed to being about Sleep. hence why the songs are called tokens/offerings. like the purpose of them is vessel offering up his pain, etc. the actual lore we've gotten from the band is really vague, like i said, and paired with the songs it's super up to interpretation
HOLY SHIT! Fastest I've ever seen anyone pick up on the imagery, the lyricism and the meaning behind the lore.
Highly recommend the journey from the first album of the "trilogy" to the end of the third.
The narrative is super relatable, from making this into an actual person and Vessel's journey with that person to the literal lore connection as one to god (Sleep).
You will truly appreciate it if you were able to glean this much from only a few songs on first listen.

Sleep Token made me fall in love with their music the way you would fall in love with a person, it's hard to describe.
Welcome to The sleep token rabbit hole, they honestly do not have a bad song and every song take you to a different place and a different feeling. I highly recommend Ascensionism and Hypnosis but Sugar is my current favorite

Please do them all in order, the whole story is absolutely INCREDIBLE. The first song on the first album of the main trilogy and the callbacks to it in the last song of the last album of the trilogy is the most insanely emotional thing I’ve ever experienced 😂

I think the only things you can really expect from Sleep Token is a) the unexpected and b) to hear about three or four different genres within each song. I can very highly recommend listening to the EPs that came out before they released Sundowning (the first album), which are quite handily called One and Two. As to the videos, there aren't that many music videos to their songs, but many of them have visualisers instead, which IMO do make the actual video-videos all the more brilliant. But honestly, trust me on listening to the EPs before you begin proper with Sundowning. You get to hear Vessel when he was younger and also experience what an immensely talented musical wizard he is, providing all the vocals and much of the instrumentation.
first video i've seen from you and this was fucking awesome man! i love how much you focus on the lyrics and the story and lore surrounding it while also appreciating the music itself. really nailed most of it too like i agree with a lot of this analysis :D i just had a great time watching this. they truly are so awesome in multiple ways and i love seeing others get into them :) i also noticed you liked the stronger vocals and long notes in tmbte especially, so i really recommend listening to the apparition, that one has some siiiick vocals. like haunting in their beauty, it's my top listened song from them because of it. i think you'd also get a kick from the song gods, that one goes so hard omg. and for music videos, the love you want has a proper video so check that one out too if you want more visuals to analyse! i could honestly recommend their whole discography for a multitude of reasons but yeah. the lore gets crazier the more you get into it so there's a ton left if you're interested in making a part two lol! keep it up dude :)

How I interpreted Blood Sport was that the pov of the song is in a toxic relationship with someone and they keep fighting over and over again.

The softer more gentle vocals/runs reminded me of another artist I'd love to see you react to, Tamino, his voice is very beautiful and his songs are sad but beautiful as well. Some good songs from him are indigo Night, Persephone, cigar , you don't own me, and the first disciple. He has music videos for most of them but cigar is definitely my favorite
