Jeeze, their control of tempo is insane. Every time I come back and listen to more SM I'm in awe of the talent possessed by everyone in this band. Incredible
+Hans Fornof are you kidding? The drummer rushes like he just found the quarterback and the trumpet player cracks more than a teenager going through puberty
@@joshuapatton6570 Comment older then dinosaurs, but their bass player is an absolute unit of a beast. I heard he has clasical jazz bass training, and that definitely shows in the small details of how he plays. I could listen to him slapping out those bangers all day. Sometimes I do.
Professional musicians playing something different but professionally. The frantic drumming has been part of their style since day one. Preference is subjective but he’s exactly what the band needs.
First time seeing this. Kalnoky did the same thing for me, I got the wind kicked out of me in a pit at Sokol Underground, got airlifted (crowdsurfed) to safety and security ripped me to the ground by anything they could grab, which by that time happened to be one arm and my underwear. Tomas stopped the show, said he'd rather see a kid wind up on stage than get ripped in half by security. I said 'thanks man' and threw a thumbs up and he said 'no problem' and they started right back up.
I am astonished at their endurance every time i see them live. The heat when they play an indoor concert is just insane. Hats off to Chris on the drums.
I think everyone in the band, by their fans, is appreciated. Granted, drummers (and bassists) are often the unsung heroes in many groups, but I think hard core SM fans give props to all of the musicians.
I saw them in Wheeling, IL a few years back and when the set began the whole crowd started moshing and fell down. They stopped the set and made everyone get up so people wouldn't get hurt. It was awesome!
I’ve seen him do it!! 13 shows under my belt… best thing ever. So Incredible how into it everyone is… 6:00 ish Absolute throw down, In the thick of it, TK notices some bullshit in crowd, 6:05 TK stops at song break, band flawlessly stop, TK calls bullshit, band water break, keeping riffs, sax to the left mean mugs and does a little sax fuck you, TK lost, crowd has it, FUCKING POWER STANCE THROW DOWN, 7:08 ish TK come on move. Back into it like nothing happened. Fucking insane talent.
Yes!!! I’ve seen him do it. 13 shows in the last 10 years… also this one time i had a transcendental experience in the crowd at one of my first SL shows in Nashville, TN. I was in the pit about to break my tailbone going down and the folks in the people around me caught me like fucking angels before I went down. I was already hooked but i knew in that moment that this was the shit for me.
Nice! I use to listen them non stop in High School. They're my favorite "Ska" band for sure. If you haven't heard of Mad Caddies they have some pretty good songs. I only really like the songs they (Mad Caddies) compose with minor chords, don't really care for their happier songs. Check out: Last Breath, Weird Beard, Coyote, Falling Down, or State of Mind. If you love Streetlight theres a pretty good chance you'll like some of their songs.
No matter how many years go by this is the song is one that needs to be shared. Thus 420 In Plain Sight is pleased Streetlight Manifesto made such great music.
I saw them a few years ago in Vancouver. Mike Park opened, and he has been a favourite of mine for almost 20 years. Streetlight was amazing. They are all great entertainers and musicians. I don’t know how they play so accurately at that tempo all night, but they freaking nail it.
Imagine to be able to be absolutely shredding, notice some specific ass bullshit in the crowd, ten seconds later stop at lyric break, band flawlessly stops - water break, band keeps riffs, sax to the left says fuck you in sax and points. TK- “A little goddamn compassion never killed a motherfucker” “GIVE HIM HIS FUCKING PHONE” “YOU GOOD?” “where were we?” Crowds got it. Band flawlessly starts again “OHHH SHIT” game on. *group power stance* BURN IT DOWN like nothing fucking happened. Incredible.
I love this video and I like to go through the comments, and I know this is an oldy but Chris actually skipped a small bit. He skipped "And I don't know much, but I do know this" and so on. It's only a few lines, so Chris just goes to the breakdown because it's a natural transition from the music stopping. It actually shows how in tune, so to say, he is with the rhythm of the songs.
That dude you are talking about was part of the stage crew, and part of what they do is prevent accidents. Imagine if someone in the band steps on the bottle, loses balance, and breaks his neck... not good. Mike Brown tends to move around a lot too, so it's possible.
I like how the trombone player uses the most basic trombone. No fancy triggers and rotary valves. He's playing high notes so he don't need all that stuff.
This is a Ukranian Hopak melody. Unsurprising considering much of their music is Eastern European melodies. The primary melody for "here's to life" sounds like a Balkan folk tune.
Wannes De Maeyer Could ne wrong but I think it’s just an improvisation before the encore, or a little set they always do at live shows but not a official song. Idk tho
cameony I thought it was the security guard who pulled the kid who was crowd surfing, looked like he dropped his phone, went back and the security were dicks, hence why he was all on about compassion cause im a mosh pit there is none
It's from the Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution which is another project of the Streetlight guys. The song they are playing before "Here's to Life" is called "A Call to Arms" ruclips.net/video/u107LjfHGoI/видео.html
It's part of the concert atmosphere for high-energy, aggressive music. If bands were truly annoyed by it, then every punk, rock, metal, dubstep band would've wanted to stop making music. If you're saying that the sole reason why they "broke up" is because of their crowds, then you are deeply misinformed.
@@user-pt1uy5gq4z think this was back when they made the announcement of touring less, touring mostly just local, and sometimes not touring at all. I think it was for end of the beginning tour and anyways it got blown out of proportion and rumors started to spread about it being their last tour. Fortunately it was not the case much to everyone's relief, but thats why on older streetlight videos you sometimes find comments about them breaking up or not touring.
Conducting a survey… true or false? Do you either have no idea about streetlight or you can say they have legitimately saved your life?? How did you get here???
I found streetlight through this old RUclips series called “Eddsworld” where in one of the videos they had the Streetlight version of “This One Goes Out To”. Thought that was cool, didn’t know it was ska. Then I heard Sell Out on the radio. Was like “damn this sounds like that song from Eddsworld” when I was in eighth grade, went back and listened to This One Goes Out To again, and then stumbled upon Somewhere in the Between. Became my favorite band, now I recently graduated and this is still my favorite band. RIP Matt mf Stewart.
Why are they doing this? Is it because they're sick of touring (understandable) or because Victory are douchebags? How long is this gonna last? SEEING THEM TWICE ISN'T ENOUGH
Rest in peace Matthew Stewart, the prettiest princess in the whole band.
A LITTLE GOD DAMN COMPASSION NEVER KILLED A MOTHERFUCKER
You will be missed Matthew. Thank you for everything
man, Mr. Stewart not only belting out that trumpet, but that final "life" !
May he rest easy, a true legend walking (and squealing)
REST IN PEACE MATTHEW STEWART. HERE'S TO LIFE
Big up matthew bless you lad , a wonderful musician much respect from London England so sad .

Have the BOTAR shirt I bought at that show retired, the left pit is ripped out. But Streetlight and Kalnoky are forever 100 percent in my book
Every one of them is extraordinary at their instrument
its awesome how while tom's yelling at he security guards everyone else is like "Well, time for a water break!"

The drums are what made me look up a live version. It's physically impossible not to tap your knees to this shit
2020 and they still play live shows this incredible
2022 and thay still play :)

Seen them before RBF in Wiesbaden and they were at least twice as good as RBF....one of my best concerts
Jan X that would be amazing! I never saw streetlight with rbf but I did get to see catch 22!
Rbf is more fun that talented. These guys, they know their instruments
Tom's little move at 7:07 where he's getting funky with the floor made me bust out laughing. Holy fuck
