This is actually how he writes most of the songs, comes up with the lyrics for them and the notes, and then once he has everything put together then he goes to the band and says "here, play this and make it sound good". These are the "original" versions, if you will.
@@MartinSmith0712 There's an interview he did with the AP Show a while back. It's the most fleshed-out interview I've ever seen him do. It's a really good listen, despite being a bit older.
Tomas has said he has horrible stage frigh; and he's said previously that it gets so bad he forgets the lyrics or chords to songs he's penned himself. You can see the fearless TV recordings where he keeps looking at Jim for cues and I've seen performances where he's doing a solo set and he'll call up Jim to bail him out. It's adorable and pretty hilarious.
@@GodofTrombones when I saw them live he fumbled maybe like once or twice but he's a fantastic showman and always manages to play it off and adds to the momentum.
That *lyrics dropped* moment during Point/Counterpoint was the most endearing thing I have ever witnessed! How have I slept on this for 6 years? I've been a streetlight fan since 2004 and I miss THIS?!
I love it. And it´s so f... awesome, tha you arrange the songs in an acoustic version. Thank you so much and lovely greatings from germany. Cheerio, Tim :)
Im pretty sure the whistle at like 37:40 comes from the audience, this video is full of little moments that show him and the audience are completely vibing together :')
I have no idea why people are so blown away with his ability with language. He is of Czech heritage and clearly kept his language skills up at home. His parents probably learnt Russian when they were over there when the Russians were a heavy influence. My Eastern European friends of a certain age almost all speak fluent Russian as it was expected when they were younger and taught in school
Well, If you mean when he's trying to speak in Russian, then yes, I think we mostly understand) I might get you wrong, so could you please clarify exactly what you were asking? In English ofc.
This year unlikely, they’re holding back on touring so they can work on a “super duper special project” (it’s an album shhh) but next year they’re hoping to do a bunch of touring and he tries to get out of the US
Haven't Heard about Toh Kay or Streetlight doing any shows for just over a year now. Does anyone know what's up with them? Really hoping everyone is doing well, livin and lovin, the band, fans and all those here as well.
This was great up until the band came out, then you could not hear Tom's guitar anymore, unfortunately being completely drowned out from the bass and drums. :'(
I think its funny That tomas is changing up the vocal patterns to try and throw the crowd singers off..but they are like "In Russia your songs belong to everybody".
To be perfectly honest, all of these songs sound better as Streetlight Manifesto. Acoustic versions have too little energy. Regardless, it would be my dream come true to see Toh Kay sing live, even if it is acoustic concert.
jktomas You could make that case, but I would argue that his songwriting skill is even more impressive seeing how well it all translates to acoustic. Also, he is currently touring, so if you want to see him, now's a good time to check!
ScotchRobbins What I find weird and interesting about his writing is that the accustic versions have more text in them, or sometimes the other way around. So you have to hear both versions to have a complete picture in your head. For example, Three of Us and Only For Memories.
I totally understand your comment and agree. I'm totally in love with both versions of his songs because they have different feels and meanings when you add or take away instruments.
