Very informative. My oil pressure switch is a 3 prong for a 78 Cadillac Coupe with the 425 carburetor engine. One wire feeds on end of switch, other end has wire leading to indicator light on the dash and the other is a wire to the choke heater on side of carburetor. There's no 12v power going to choke heater, but the fuse and the light work ok as it should...could it still be a bad oil pressure switch? According to service manual the electric choke receives an electric current operating thru the oil pressure switch whenever the engine running and it isn't. I suspect it's bad because at cold start up the engine would run a bit all the while idleling bad and stumbling then it'll cut off. However, once i get it going, i have no issues at all thru the course of the day. Engine runs perfectly fine. It only occurs during start up and cold weather. Any feedback is appreciated 👏 thanks
Thank you for your comments. When the engine runs, the light goes out. When the engine runs, the oil pressure rises and separates the terminals..... this breaks the circuit and the light goes out. I hope this helps?
So I did this test for continuity on my one pin unit and I get no continuity beep. I did however put one lead on the top terminal and one on the body. I depress d the plate inside and did see numbers change .
This particular pressure switch was from a triumph spitfire.... there would need to be a grounding strap attached from the engine mount to the chassis as the engine is normally mounted on rubber vibration absorbing material.
Ok, thanks. I made it in this way for simplicity. I have a full explanation of the actual wiring in this video: studio.ruclips.net/user/videolatCgZ0bYes/edit I'd be interested to know what you think of the additional information?
Good explanation and visuals. Thanks
Thank you.
i like the simplicity of explanation, thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you for conceptual illustration.
You are very welcome
Thanks for this Neil

really good. thanks
Thank you too! I'm glad you found it useful.
Very nice.
Sorry about the late replay and thank you for the feed back.
Would a faulty one of these cause high pressure in the fuel system ?
Great presentation. So when the engine runs the light should come on or off?

Awesome thanks
No problem!
good presentation that
Thank you for the kind comment's.
is there any difference in the construction of the switch for units with 2 or 3 spades?
I've only come across the Oil Px Sx with one terminal. Sorry.

Sorry about the late reply....
Can the light be grounded wherever on the bike?

What is name of this particular oil pressure switch ?
@@ajmalkhan9062 sorry I don't know that one.
It seems as if you're missing something. Electricity! You need to get some power in there to make the whole thing work.
Try this one..... ruclips.net/video/latCgZ0bYes/видео.html
Good video / explanation, but as someone else has pointed out electrically I’m pretty sure it’s not correct.

think your wiring diagram is so wrong lol
Thanks for your comment. I'm open to any improvements?
@@Madeinwem well positive goes in to the lamp and out of the lamp to the sender , them the switch makes contact to earth which completes the circuit
