Great video. The topic reminded me of when I used to play a lot of Dbfz (fighting game), and It was the first fighting game that I was really getting into. I've always been kind of competitive when it came to videogames, and so I was trying to improve as much as I could at the game and when I thought I was decent enough, I decided to try playing a tournament. It was just like you said in the video, any small mistake I made, I would be punished for on the spot. I learned a lot, and found that playing with a skill level higher then your own can speed up the learning process by a large margin.
The difference between the slowness in apex versus the slowness in the wipeout game is that the wipeout game is still mentally going where as apex isn’t super competitive all the time. The down time is so down it is basically boring, where as diabotical your still thinking about your opponents, your teammates, positioning, fights, movement, etc. you have a lot more things to think about rather than just looking for another fight
glad you finally dove into AFPS proper. have you considered picking up gunz: the duel? it's more dead than dbt at this point (no official servers outside korea anymore, and freestylegunz, the "good" north american server, has 140 concurrent players right now) and tbh its not as strategic as a quake-like but it has plenty of Extremely Arbitrary Skills that you may find appealing. there's some new blood too bc iBDW started streaming it so you can clown on melee nerds if you so desire
@@pinguefied i don't really think it's that far off, tbh! it's even less of a leap from fps to gunz than fps to (eg) melee, i think. it's a good fidget toy game at least, just fuckin around with the movement while you listen to a podcast or something

I love that u finally made a second channel with „low effort“ vids where u just have a bit of fun
I feel like with the next apex update(the arena) your apex wishes will be fulfilled

lmao that's not a name i expected to see on this topic. I've heard of it and it's a pretty neat looking game, but i'm not sure it's my cup of tea tbh
