That’s a great idea. I went to my local Ben Franklins and bought 9” x 12” adhesive back felt sheets and used that instead. It worked out perfectly with out the messiness of the spray on adhesive. Its a snug fit at first, but the felt compresses overtime and my j-cups & spotter arms move freely in and out of position from the uprights. Glad I bumped into your channel to get the this awesome idea!!!
@@TheKurtlocker I went a different route while I was at the hardware store. I was looking at felt tap when I found a roll of Velvet adhesive. Cost only $6AUD (Australian) I cut to size and it turned out good. See images ibb.co/fkxkGh1 ibb.co/fYKWc81
Nice Tip ... Thanks ! .... But there is no need to cut them exactly before ... just roughly cut them, and after everything is glued ... just follow the contour of the attachement with a knife.
Awesome idea, thank you for making this video! Would you be able to provide some dimensions of the cutout shapes to make it easier for us to recreate this project? :)
I actually think that in hindsight it would be simpler to cut out the felt after you glue in a larger piece. Either way it’s a very involved project. I made all my attachments felt lined with 1 yard of felt
The Kurtlocker yes sir, the very same, easy to replace if anything goes wrong. I also use them to shim if the pin holes don’t line up exactly right to make locking them in easier. They’re a little more discrete as well. Probably took 2-3 minute per spotter arm/jcup to find the sweet spot for the felt based on manufacturing variability. For example, I have 4 spotter arms. 2 are perfect, but 2 overshot the pin hole, so I shimmed them and now there’s no play and they go on quiet like yours.
@@TheKurtlocker a rowing company? Is their anywhere you recommend to buy chains or find them from other alternatives than fitness companies? Most, like Atlantis charge a major premium for their chains with a barbell collar attachments when you can get a cheap set of proloc collars with chain attachment and just use that for half the amount. But finding chains right now has been difficult.
My apologies. I didn’t read that comment before publishing. A towing company. Honestly, chains are expensive. Just shop around and don’t be set on stainless links if you want something affordable. Titan fitness has some as well for a decent price.
All the pieces are holding like a champ...which I am surprised at, not because the Loctite spray adhesive (300 strength), but because of my skills as an upholsterer! ha
Nothing at all. This is purely cosmetic. It does also provide a slightly tighter fit and reduces any rattling noise for folks that have noise restrictions (apartments, kids, etc)

That is probably a simpler install. I’m glad to hear it worked out for you. Thanks for watching!
Nice!
Thank you! Small details can really make a difference.
Just did this myself except I used carpet tape since I had it on hand. Great improvement over normal. Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks for watching and carpet tape seems like a great alternative. Let me know how it lasts!
I'm watching your video before I go to work.
Thank you
I am going to attempt this today, wish me luck. My neighbours thank you in advanced.
Lol. It’s not too bad. I hope that you are successful.

Looks good!
This is something i need. My rack is scratching to much to soon. Will be giving it a go.. nice job
I’m mainly blown away how much quieter it actually is when a barbell is re-racked
Not too concerned about sound but this is a good idea for preserving the finish on the rack.
Very true and it is still in good condition!

Lessons learned afterward! I am definitely not a upholsterer and learned a lot
Buena idea.. 👍✨
Good idea.. 👍✨
Thank you!
Flex tape works great too! :D
Not a bad idea! The felt is all still going strong
@@TheKurtlocker Felt looks so much better, will have to give it a try!
Love this idea, for the prices that rogue charges they should come with it...
I actually agree 100%

Great DIY mod. Black colored fabric would of been my choice
I thought about a couple of colors, including black, but I liked red the most. Black would look clean
Rogue would've added an extra $100 for this type of stuff, Good Stuff!
I wish the Rogue would treat the Monster lite line the same as the Monster line with the UHMW lining on all the attachments
Great idea!
Thank you!
Does the glue leave anything behind if you were to remove it?
I imagine there would be some but would probably be easily removed with acetone
I just stuck a cabinet dampener felt pad sticker on the inside and it functions the same. Not as slick looking but same idea
That seems a lot simpler. You’re talking those little circle ones?

The Kurtlocker by all means, hell patent it and sell it lol
Hey dude, nice trick! Got my rack coming soon - just wondering how thick that felt is? Cheers
It is pretty thin. I purchased it at JoAnn fabrics.
@@TheKurtlocker thanks again for the tip mate. Just got some felt sheets with adhesive backing on it - works like a charm.
Nicely done
NICE‼️‼️
Thank you!
where did you get your chains from?
A combination of some old chains from a rowing company and some old chain from a grandparent’s basement

Nice, could I also use gorilla tape
You could but I don’t know how well it would last.
What is wrong if a tool looks like it has been used?
