Personally I really like the idea that the heal spell fermented from lack of use and eventually became the spirit, rather than it just being deleted and replaced
I mean, the teaser and concept art and release graphic all show a broken heal spell with a heal spirit coming out of it, and not to mention, monk being able to reflect the heal spirit, I would say that the spell did transform into a spirit.
Pretty crazy how year after they were worried about healing spells making the meta too defensive they finally realised that the best way to fix the heal spell was to make it an offensive card with a heal reward
I do appreciate that this bottle of bliss caused alot of stress on the devs. They could've just decided to delete it or just ignore it to leave it to rot at the bottom of the barrel, but they didn't, they continuously reworked it all because of 1, well 3 issues in the 3 musketeers.

As someone who hasn't kept up with the game, I was genuinely hyped by the plot twist of it being turned into the spirit. Awesome video man keep up the good work and keep catching Ws.
not exactly direct because it was rather replaced by the healing spirit. A mini example: if I had the healing spell at level 9 then the healing spirit would be level 9 because it would be replacing them. but that was the only card removed from the entire game.

I was an avid user of lumberjack back in the days and when you have +1k games with lumber, you know how to take proper advantage of his rage. it was essentially an Arnold Goblin that dropped a rage spell when killed. You could easily get +5 elixir value from a card that cost 4 elixir. I know lumber was (and is) a niche card (basically only ice+lumber+loon uses him now) but then, it was a matter of skill and card knowledge, not just bs loons. Rage now makes the lumber a little more balanced (I would increase his attack speed a little tho), and its itself balanced since it also deals with bats/skellies I remember when bats came out, it was impossible to deal with them. No zaps since logs were dominating everything and using arrows was positive for the bats user. It was a genius move by supercell to make both, the ice and the rage to kill said troops. however I still love bats and use them to counter inferno towers. Have a good day
I remember only learning that Heal was removed from the game when I redownloaded the game quite some time after unlocking it. Having no knowledge of the game's meta, I was really confused as to why so this video was a fun history lesson.

I think Heal changed for the better, from my perpective, considering that Heal Spirit is actually a versatile - uh... I guess... - cheap and adorable-looking card :)
I feel like if the heal spell would only heal a specific amount of HP instantly (like 400) or instead costed 5-6 elixir then it would be more balanced. Reducing the effect time or range is also an option, But there is also the interesting alternative of it only effecting one troop and fully healing it. Specifically based on whatever troop it is, costing one more elixir than whatever card it is healing based on how it is used. Kind of like mirror but as a healing mechanic.
R.I.P. heal spell despite it's usage rate it will never be forgotten. Ngl tho I actually used the heal spell and I grew attached to it and after it got replaced I refused to use the heal spirit as I personally find it a lesser version of the true og

I was so angry because Heal Spell was my first max level card, and within a month it was rendered essentially useless when they changed it to heal spirit. I always used it with mega knight and baby dragon. Heal was my absolute favorite card of all time even as the 1 elixir version. Battle Healer imo should work the same way it does in Clash Of Clans
Even though Heal was a card i never used for 3 years, not only was the sad to see it go, but it was equally insane seeing someone in CRL heal the minions after the zap to get the tower and win.
i think a video about cards and their 'counters' would be great, adding cards countering each other so well makes the game more based on luck? for example mother witch being hard counter of GY
technically, mirror is the card with the most counter in the game, although this depends on the card that it is reflecting and since mirror is all the cards in one, that means that all those counters are combined, making the mirror the card with the most counters according to the card that it reflects.
@@BLET_55artem55 late reply but in an old video of brad on the game 1 card bug of the 2vs2 game mode, he tried the idea of mirror the mirror. It works as the bit cost keep increasing until it hits 10 elixir. But rather than that bug, you cant mirror mirror.
I love the heal spirit concept, but all of the hassle the devs went through could’ve been avoided if they just reduced the hp of *only* the 3 musketeers so they died to a fireball. Just change the color/model of them to differentiate from the musketeer. I get why they wouldn’t want to do variations with cards like skeletons/goblins, but three musketeers was so oppressive at that time I feel like that was the simplest and easiest compromise that you could make.
supercell have always had this opinion when it comes to cards that produce the same unit. this has been a challenge recently b/c the goblin giant (makes spear goblins) is extremely strong, the spear goblins card is just ok, and the goblin hut (makes spear goblins) is terrible
They definitely could've made the Heal work, they just didn't bother experimenting with different changes (take the Rage rework for example), but I think the Heal Spirit turned out to be a fine replacement as well!

it sucks that it got deleted, i was using pretty regularly, they just should have fixed the bug and nerfed the card at different time, it was effectively a 40% efficacity nerf, and no card could survive that
i was one of the few who played heal and ACTUALLY was able to get it working with some decks, low hp cards such as most forms of goblins actually worked pretty well when paired some mid hp range cards i honestly don't remember what deck i used but all i remember was goblin gang and dart goblin with heal was pretty good if used at the right time

Slowly but surely, all supporting spells will be replaced/outshined by a spirit version supercell adds (or will add, because the card ideas department isn't that strong nowadays lol) The problem isn't the spells themselves being bad, it's the trend with 1 elixir spirits that started with ice spirit (not fire spirits, they used to be 2 elixir and felt like a normal card, not a gimmicky one) Gimmicky in the sense that they still apply the effects of their spell counterpart plus being able to swerve enemy units for being considered a troop type, bait some attacks if well timed, have just enough HP to tank the princess tower and still jump, and deal small dmg (which is something heal spell did get at some point, but rage and clone didn't, but is something that could be added if those spells were to get a spirit counterpart), all that for 1 single elixir These are all things the remaining support spells don't have, yet still costing 2+ elixir, which makes them even worse for cycle
I used the heal spell in my Giant, Witch deck. It would heal up my witch and mini pekka after a fireball or my minions after a zap, it kept the push going for just enough time to take a tower and sometimes even go on to take half the king tower. It worked so well for me before they turned it into a one elixer card.
I’m very interested in an alternate timeline where the heal spell healed a percentage of a troop’s hp instead of a flat amount. This would make it more useful for tanks and less for damage dealing cards

Just started watching these videos and I find them very interesting, as a player who played CR since it’s release, then stopped playing during the 3 musk meta, to then come back a few years later to find that 3 musk was terrible and I had a open slot in my main deck I was very confused to say the least
if you made this card 5-10 elixir then it would not be good for cycling which means it wouldn't work with 3 musketeers. They also never tried healing % of health, which would not benefit 3 musketeers as much as a pekka or a golem.
Why they don’t just rework 3 Musketeers? Instead of using the Musket that have large caliber. Increase deploy time for 3 Musketeers. Maybe 7s deploy time like Pekka do. Basically you have enough time to counter it. Or make 3 Musketeers as a separate character to Musketeer. So the buff and nerfs does not affect either two. Or making 3 Musketeers unable to target Air.
I didn’t actually know the Monk actually deflects *_ONLY_* the Heal Spirit. Or maybe I noticed inconsistencies and just thought he received balance adjustments. From my point of view they didn't actually delete the card, they just dramatically redesigned it, as the heal spirit is based off the spell. They're ultimately two sides of the same coin.

Instead of healing a specific amount, I think it would be good to heal a percent like 20% health in a 3 tile radius for 3 or 2 elixir

I’m very interested in an alternate timeline where the heal spell healed a percentage of a troop’s hp instead of a flat amount. This would make it more useful for tanks and less for damage dealing cards
If the % is too low this would be useless for low hp troops and op for large hp troops.
I think next you shuld make a history of the three musketeers
They could’ve added a system for heal that the more units inside, the less healing it gives per tick down to 30% of the base heal tick

THIS WAS AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE 💯! Also, he never talked about how heal spirit is the only rare spirit card. It's BECAUSE ITS THE HEAL SPELL. Ps: me personally, I liked the heal spell because it was the only card that did the opposite of any card. The absolute most unique card in the game!
Just started watching these videos and I find them very interesting, as a player who played CR since it’s release, then stopped playing during the 3 musk meta, to then come back a few years later to find that 3 musk was terrible and I had a open slot in my main deck I was very confused to say the least

if you made this card 5-10 elixir then it would not be good for cycling which means it wouldn't work with 3 musketeers. They also never tried healing % of health, which would not benefit 3 musketeers as much as a pekka or a golem.

Why they don’t just rework 3 Musketeers? Instead of using the Musket that have large caliber. Increase deploy time for 3 Musketeers. Maybe 7s deploy time like Pekka do. Basically you have enough time to counter it. Or make 3 Musketeers as a separate character to Musketeer. So the buff and nerfs does not affect either two. Or making 3 Musketeers unable to target Air.

I didn’t actually know the Monk actually deflects *_ONLY_* the Heal Spirit. Or maybe I noticed inconsistencies and just thought he received balance adjustments. He’s supposed to deflect anything that’s a projectile and I had always just assumed spirits were simply considered projectiles after they jump~

Bro I havent played Clash Royale since the fall of 2017 and and I was recommended your videos randomly today and I clicked on it and it got me hooked on and I have watched 5 or 6 of your videos continuously and it have inspired me to install back the game. remove the hog and add a spirit which is same as other spirit in terms of health but when it touches building it summons 3 hogs which have same health as musky
I feel like they could have had diminished healing power for every extra troop in the healing radius, idk it could have balanced it a little

Cards that have been "ruled out" that they ended up implementing:
- Troop that multiplies over time
- Earthquake & Haste
- Any Type Of Healing Card
- Builder
- Teleporter
Nonw of these things were added straight forwardly.

From my point of view they didn't actually delete the card, they just dramatically redesigned it, as the heal spirit is based off the spell. They're ultimately two sides of the same coin.
They need to make an emote of the Heal Spell breaking to reveal the Heal Spirit.
