This is the Nylands och Tavastehus Calavlry March from Caliguoa or Hollowfaith's Drum and Fife mod for Empire: Total War! I take no credits for the song!

Its funny how every other march sounds so friendly witch it sounds weird for a lot of people going to kill the enemy with friendly sounding music but this march, im sure no one would feel weird about it
I was just about to comment that, imagine a full regiment of 1000 men with muskets appearing in the distance marching to these drums, slowly picking up pace until they're right infront of you and then break into a full bayonet charge screaming like madmen. I don't know about you guys but i'd shit my pants.
Ik this is sorta necroing, but I feel as though I gotta say this... Historically, the Scandinavians were a violent people. Danes, Fins, Swedes, and the Northvegrs were all pagan for a time and a lot went viking, Raiding into lands such as Frankia, Poland, parts of Prussia, and the British Isles (Not England, since the British Isles were divided between the Welsh, Britons, Saxons, Anglians, Picts, Scots, and the Irish.). Some Northmen settled down in the English Isles, called themselves kings and waged war against the Saxons, most notably against Wessex, for control of the Isles. Long story short, the Scandinavian people have a violent history. Hence the fact of how sad and violent this tune seems, as it only makes sense.... I'm no historian btw.... just very vested in it.
If you ever visit Stockholm and the Army Museum you can see the Swedish Army under Gustavus II at Lutzen in a mini scale. There´s plenty of other things related to the era of the peak of the Swedish empire at the museum. If you´re into naval history i suggest you visit the Vasa Museum where the Royal ship Vasa is in exhibition (and I think authentic to 98%)
It is more easily found with names "Viken, tidens flyktiga minnen" in Swedish and "Narvan marssi" in Finnish. Both instrumental and vocal versions can be found searching with those names. It is used as a funeral march in Finland, especially in case of a war veteran or state funerals - Most famously in that of president Urho Kekkonen: ruclips.net/video/23fZ-nzrYOw/видео.html
This is finnish military music, which the headline hints of already. But back then Sweden an Finland was the same country so that's why this song can be considered as Swedish. On the other hand the swedish flag probably belongs from an area in Finland called "the real Finland" roughly translated, and what couldn't be more swedish than our swedish flag? Finland and Sweden belongs together, 800 years of being the same country still reminds us both every day, even though 207 years has past since we were the same country. May god bless Finland and finns. Since you're facing bad times economically I try my best to buy finnish wares so that your economy will be good again. I feel that you're my kinsmen since all men in my family history has went to Finland to help you in the wars against russians, ever since the 1600's and until the talvisota. The close bonds to you and your nation will make me come to if anyone even touches one hair of Finlands body. Long live Finland and may god have mercy upon this great nation and people!
First of i'd like to thank you for your kind words in place of every Finn out there, and i quite much agree, altough the way Finland was conquered can't be justified in my mind, still we were one all the way until the 19th century when the russian empire fucked up everything, and even when they did, you still came to our aid in our time of need, for that i am sure every Finn is greatful. With Sweden we conquered together, died together, i myslef belong to the Philjerta family which has provided the Swedish crown with cavalry troops since the 16th century, few people from my country remember the swedish days, many of us think it was a shameful time, but what country has a clean history? If one exists i've never heard of it, the north should always stand toghether, and even if we both are two seperate countries we both stand tall under the lion. Long live Sweden! Long live Finland! About the Swedish flag, do you mean Finland proper? That's ''varsinais-suomi'' or Egentliga Finland as you'd call it. My fathers side of my family comes from there, lot's of Swedish people and lots of swedish influences.
+MyNameIsMud You're very welcome. I really think that Finland is our best friend and where I grew up a large minority of the people were finnish immigrants that came during the pre-war era, mostly Karelians I guess. So many of my childhood friends are somehow finnish or half finns. What I can say about Finland is that what would Sweden be without the hakkapelitans, the "forest finns" that tamed the wilderness of Värmland, Närke, Västergötland and so on? What would Finland be without the swedish settlers that populated the finnish lands that had a population of 15 000 or so when it all started in the 1100's or so, and not without forgeting to mention that the swedish state basically formed the society there and on equal terms. At some times the swedish state even had a finnish government. as long as the administrative language was spoken, anyone within the swedish state could be anyone he wanted basically. And yeah about the swedish flag I meant "Egentliga Finland" it felt a bit difficult to translate that into english in a good way. Cheers mate!
a b Yeah i never knew it was called Finland Proper in english but i heard it in the English news a few days ago so i assumed it was what you were talking about, in any case it's always nice to see and talk to people with knowledge about our history, our roots go deep, and because of that we should take care that we remember what once was so we can better understand the present day. Have a great one!
As far as I know, being told by my step brother who is also Finnish, even though we Swedes tried to keep you within our borders, Napoleon helped the Russians to take you from us before the coalition against him wich included Russia.
One can wonder if I could have escaped killing with my modern Uppland dialect mixed with Östergötland dialect :) Maybe I would have been regarded as a Russiann spy from Gårdarike:)
"The melody of the Narva March is apparently of Irish origin and is thought to have traveled to Sweden with enlisted soldiers from the British Isles. The march is named after the Battle of Narva in 1700 , where it was traditionally played.
