- The march of Narva "The March of Narva" or "Narvan Marssi" in Finnish, Is a Swedish/Finnish march about the Battle of Narva (1700) during the Great Northern War.
The Battle of Narva on 30 November 1700 was an early battle in the Great Northern War. A Swedish relief army under Charles XII of Sweden defeated a Russian siege force three to four times its size. Previously, Charles XII had forced Denmark-Norway to sign the Treaty of Travendal. Narva was not followed by further advances of the Swedish army into Russia; instead, Charles XII turned southward to expel August the Strong from Livonia and Poland-Lithuania. Tsar Peter the Great of Russia took Narva in a second battle in 1704. - Игры
This is used in Finland as a military funeral march
Like in the latest one, Martti Ahtisaari ):

President of Finland is the High (-est) Commander of the Finnish Defense Forces; basically he is like a king, ”valkung”. That’s why it is played in the funerals of the presidents.
Imagine hearing this before going in to battle, sounds so intimidating.
Sweden's already playing their funeral music, but it's not for them
It is, considering the fact that it's this slow because there was hellish storm of snow running rampant when they marched.
Oh, so you think this march was written prior to the battle?
@@Tramseskumbanan It's literally a song used in the battle for Narva
@@ezeqeel8352 It was composed a century after the battle.
"Viken, tidens flyktiga minnen!
Stundens fröjder, bleknen, försvinnen!
Natten nedsteg på våra sinnen,
och för skuggorna är vår sång.
Hågkomst av de framfarna dagar,
som oss eldar och oss anklagar!
Gråa gäst, som ej tid försvagar,
följe ditt allvar vår dunkla gång!"
Probably one of (if not the) best marches I've heard
this is quite relaxing somehow
I have never heard this version, never knew there where over versions on YT apart from the ETW music mod version
Nice Vid, one of the most intimating song I've heard.
Nice pfp btw
Soldiers of Finland are always ready to sacrifice their life, for home, religion and fatherland
💀
The melodic structure sounds like Chervona Kalyna.
When was it composed?
First known notes are from 1798.
@@ezeqeel8352 thank you
What is the movie in the video?
He Sovereign’s Servant (2007)
American moment för svenskarna: Hur många kan peka ut Nyland och tavastehus på en karta? =)
Nyland - Uusimaa på finska, Tavastehus - Hämeenlinna på finska. Båda är finska områden.
