That’s what I’ve been saying about that new sequel trilogy for a while now, they only decided to pick less than 1% of story elements from legends for these new movies. Kylo Ren aka just Disney’s Jason Solo, the emperor being resurrected by cloning technology from legends as well, Kathleen Kennedy basically ignored all the other materials from legend’s continuity to explain why they didn’t try anything new or original for the sequel trilogy. The only thing that saved the franchise was the mandalorian made by better qualified visionary creators that can do a better job as the head of Lucasfilm than who we have now.

Rian johnson clearly has no understanding of star wars, or the concept of a hero's journey in general, JJ Abrams has undone the original trilogy by bringing back Palpatine making everything accomplished in empire, and return of the jedi pointless and making Rey a Palpatine and killing of the Skywalker bloodline shows that Abrams has no respect for the original characters as well. But KK is most responsible.

It would be easy to bring Vader back from the dead. Just say that Vader had a microchip in his brain that backed up all his data when he died. He was a freaking cyborg after all. Then upload that to a robot with the design of the Vader suit. Lets also not forget that cloning is a thing in the Star Wars universe. I'm not saying that bringing Vader back would be a good idea. Only that it would be very easy.

Thats the thing about old star wars, we always got something new, the je'daii vs the rakatan empire, the galactic republic vs the sith empire, the galactic republic vs the CIS, the rebels vs the empire, the new republic vs the imperial remnant, the new republic vs the yuuzhan vong, the jedi and imperial loyalists vs the one sith. Sounds similar but they are all unique in their own way. Revan was a sith who wanted to atone for his sins, anakin was a kid who wanted to help people, luke was a kid who wanted to explore, cade was a guy who wanted to run away from his destiny.
I miss old star wars for a somewhat contradictory reason: i want its bravery, its willingness to do something different, its willingness to push the envelope, but its ability to never lose the feel of star wars and always stay true to its predecessors without being a reskin of them.
And its kickass action figures.
