In this honest and eye-opening video, I am excited to share with you why I have made the difficult decision to stop using Arccos Golf. As an avid golf enthusiast, I have invested significant time and effort into utilizing this popular golf tracking system. However, after thorough consideration and personal experience, I have reached a point where it no longer aligns with my golfing needs. Join me as I reveal my journey, the challenges I faced, and the reasons behind my departure from Arccos Golf.
Throughout my partnership with Arccos Golf, there were certainly notable aspects that initially drew me in. The advanced tracking technology, shot analysis, and valuable statistics appealed to my desire for data-driven improvement. However, as time went on, I started noticing certain limitations and frustrations that inhibited my overall golfing experience.

From overly intrusive sensor setup procedures to inconsistencies in data collection, I gradually realized that the promised seamless tracking was not always so seamless. Additionally, the lack of customization options and limited compatibility with certain golf clubs hindered my ability to fully optimize my game.
Furthermore, the subscription-based model and its associated costs began to weigh heavily on my decision to continue with Arccos Golf. While I understand the need for ongoing advancements and support, the financial commitment became increasingly difficult to justify, especially when considering alternative golf tracking solutions.
However, please note that my intention is not to discourage others from using Arccos Golf. Each golfer's needs and preferences differ, and what may not work for me might be the perfect fit for someone else. This video aims to provide my honest experience and reasoning, allowing viewers to make informed decisions based on their own circumstances.
Join me as I embark on a new journey, exploring alternative golf tracking systems that align more closely with my specific requirements. Together, let's discover new ways to enhance our golfing experiences, improve our game, and ultimately find the perfect golf companion.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and stay tuned for exciting updates and insights on my quest for better golf tracking solutions!

I agree with all the positives and negatives that you explain in this review… and can understand why the product would not be as useful to a golfer of your experience. However, your review of Arccos is only from your own skill level. From my skill level (~12H) with a little work, to ensure the round details are correct, I find the insights on the strong/weak aspects of my game provided by the app are very useful tool to help me improve… And these tips are the most important aspects that app provides for my game. I have not used the app’s AI to plan my strategy on the course but can understand how it may need to improve to provide the best choices for each golfer at their unique skill level. Also, the club distances saved in the app do need to be monitored and edited to include/exclude shots. Even if the app could use the weather to determine the assistance/hindrance for each shot the app would still been need to somehow factor in the dry conditions or wet conditions affecting total distance for each club…

I literally just bought brand new Cobra Radspeeds tonight. I thought I’d try the sensors at the driving range. Got them set up and then it said…Free Trial. It didn’t tell me how long the free trial is. Or how much it costs once the free trial is over. I still don’t know how much it costs because it didn’t say. So I watched your video and I’m so thankful that I’m not signing up. I’m not a good golfer but I’m happy to get brand new clubs and go have some fun on the golf course. After watching your video I realized it’s only for the course and not for the driving range. So thankful you made this video.

Curious if you have reconsidered now (two yers later) that they have improved functionality and have an iWatch app pairing or the smart link (both work way better than just the phone in your pocket). I have both and choose to use the watch, however with both you don’t need to carry the phone. Also using the phone you can look at yardages you want to hit to and Arccos will adjust to course conditions and recommend clubs based on your historical distances. I’ve never used the virtual caddy function you wanted so no idea if that improved as I agree two years ago that was greatly flawed. Also, you average adjusted distances and can exclude shots from each club if Arccos used it in your averages.

Been using arccos for about 6 months. Everything you've said is correct. Caddy is useless, I never use it. Mostly I use arccos for range and to measure hazards etc. Even then though, it's faster using a watch gps Vs reaching in my pocket and unlocking my phone to see distance. I don't use the smart distances either. If you use a club to punch a shot, it takes that distance into consideration too.
The useful things I do use is how far my drive went, how many putts I had over the round looking at my previous scores. Wish it showed what we hit previously on holes when we play the course again.
You've made me consider dumping arccos and going with a good watch though. 🤔

my garmin S62 smartwatch does a similar thing, I could be massively wrong here, but I think its almost "too Smart"...in the sense that if your in-accurate finding fairways with a driver, it probably takes the data from the next club like a 3 wood and figures that you hit that club straighter, and based on the hole layout (tight fairway) that's why it recommends that?? again could be wrong, for me the best value and features of these gadgets are -> A) how far do you hit each club B) what is the layout of the holes you are on ie is there a bunker round the bend or water on the right. C) how far out am i. D) a digital score tracker so i can view my rounds and keep all my scores.

Would be helpful to show the data of how you've played these holes in previous rounds. You should log a few rounds playing with the caddies suggestions for every hole and then see if your score improves. Its all data driven so I would assume it is looking at everything, whether you hit certain clubs left/right, how far you hit them, angle of approach, etc... and comparing that data against the hole layout. I see this system working great for a VERY CONSISTENT ball striker. I don't see this working well for someone who has a fairly large dispersion in their ball striking.

Just on the distances seeming short Arccos knows the wind and barometric pressure based on weather radar in the area so in the Caddie numbers you're actually getting the number adjusted for wind. In one of your pics you were into a 17MPH head wind. That can easily knock 35-40 yards off

    • @ScratchAt50
      @ScratchAt50  2 года назад

Can see what your saying but there were multiple instances where the smart caddie just didn't work. One time it told me to hit a 5 iron off the tee when I would normally hit 3 wood and it didn't get me to the corner of the dog leg and I was blocked out by trees, Arrcos didn't even the trees were there.
My main issues were the sensors not working and the smart caddie being rubbish. On the distances it was pretty good

Great review. I love my Arccos system. But I ignore tee shot recommendations on 4s and 5s. The preview caddie is not great either. You can pick a tee box but it doesn’t adjust the info at the top. So that yardage is a bad guess quite often. I think where the Caddie feature shines is approach shots during a live round. If I execute it’s always spot on. Missed shots went away once I got an Apple Watch Series 6. My phone stays in the cart. Arccos is almost there. I’m sticking with it.

Was an early adopter of this technology and was quick to recommend. But the value I gained was early in using the system. The main thing I got from it was an accurate understanding of just how far I was NOT hitting each club. Sobering. But I also picked up a garmin 20 for wick look at front, center, back becasue I wanted that data st a glance and not have to use my phone every shot. Garmin has “measure last shot” feature and it is great. It does what I want. Arcoss did not pick up every shot. Had to constantly add shots even with the link device. I’m done with it.

I've been using Arccos for years and there can be problems but I don't think it's exactly the sensors that are the issue as you kept saying. I think the issue is in using it with certain android phones. I have used it with an HTC, a Samsung and now and apple phone. They make no bones about it that it works best on Apple since all their phones are essentially the same, where as with Android I believe they find it harder because each phone is different in terms of OS/UI and there is great variance in the hardware too.
That being said, I rarely had big issues with missing shots on any of my phones. It does miss a few but it's usually a flop shot or greenside bunker shot where there isn't a 'normal' impact sound. The putting does often need adjusted but I'm not sure if thats because it picks up me taking a practice swing while waiting for others to putt or if its tapping down pitchmarks etc but I can deal with that. I don't find it misses short ones as you found.
I use the Link now (bought it so I wasn't using phone battery and didn't need a clunky phone in my pocket) and it makes it easier for me. Clip it on my pocket and then play. I easily get in the habit of pushing the button as I pick my ball out the hole to mark the location.
I think, for the most part, the distances are pretty accurate (wedges not as much but then we aren't really hitting them full very often anyway) and over long spells the wind impact etc balances out. The caddy is not good and I don't use it but I also don't think it's aimed a low players. Higher handicappers seem to benefit from it. While I do like it, I would also point out that I got it several years ago when it was a one off payment and I got the link on pre-order which was also much cheaper. I wouldn't pay £100/year or whatever for it now, I'd just be going for the shotscope version.

Agree with what your saying.. I found same thing and stopped using arccos. However..... im back using it but im not using it for the caddie at all. Reason ill be using it is because say im playing a 36 hole scratch comp, It will be really handy for me to see how i can play better in the second round, as personally i wont be able to remember my drive on each hole, so i wont remember is im missing left or right that day, sounds silly but i genuinly wont remember individual shots as im mentally stronger on the course now as never think of past shots, i just play the next shot. So say im missing left, ill just move my target 10 yards right on the second round. ill then look at my GIR misses... if im short ill then use the back of green yardage in the second round. Same as you, ill know my carry yardages as im a 2.7 index. I also use DECADE golf strategy so i believe in that for planning the way ill play a course. But arccos will give me that feedback after the first round on how i could potentially save a couple of shots on the second round as ill know my tendancies for that day, as i am only human and maybe i have lost a couple of mph that day. To be fair to arcoss we are not necessarily their audience as we already know how to play the game smart. For a beginner or high handicapper i think its great as they can show a pro their stats and they can get a real plan together as its obvious from stats whether its long or shot game that's hurting them most or if it is poor management. Overall i dont think its ever going to hurt anyones game and will be better than nothing for nearly everyone who takes the gamer seriously. i think something like DECADE is best for game strategy but arccos is very good at giving the post round data and SG info. My friend has used arccos for years and it only every takes him 2 to 3 minutes post round to do his edits. i dont even notice him doing it. I did have a S62 as well but i didnt like playing with a watch. I also forgot to tell it which club i hit often so nothing is perfect. Unless your on tour and can just go on shot link.

@@ScratchAt50 yes I don't think I would say I missed it but I'm after such marginal gains now I just need something that could save me 1 or 2 shots. I've learnt alot over the winter about course management and now feel some of the stats in arccos could help me learn some of my weak tendancies. And I want to know where I'm losing strokes gained against other low handicappers. So knowing something as simple as I'm missing short right alot could be that 1 shot that gets me into the 1.somethings. my account is old so still has me down for no subscription anyway. If I wasn't on a old account so needed a subscription I wouldn't have got it again as I wouldnt want the yearly fee. But say I was off 9ish and wanted to get to 5. It could certainly speed that up. The stats of 5 shots dropped are like from 20 handicap to 15. So a 25% reduction. So maybe it might help me knock 0.7 off my index which is the same 25% but that's still a huge reduction at this level. My goal is to simply get as low as possible so I can play in as many scratch events as I can without being balloted out so anything that helps get into the 1s is worth a try. Not like I'll ever win the comps. I just enjoy playing good courses at reduced rates :)

Also read Zen golf and golf is not a game of perfect recently and again, they make you realise what's happened has happened. Just play the next shot and move on.

Agree with regard to the caddie system. Although I do intend to play a round where I hit the shot it tells me every time just to see how that works out.
Overall I do like and enjoy the system. Yes, occasional missed shots but I’m happy to edit.

      Hi Richard
I may have been unlucky with my sensors but I'd have at least 30% of my shots not picked up.
Like I said in the video if this improves in the future with guaranteed 100% sensor effectiveness I would consider getting back on board

Got a free set with my new Ping driver. Lasted 4 rounds with them and stoped using them, I found the app absolutely awful, it kept crashing whilst on course and became a distraction. I have just brought the new Shotscope H4 with tags, much better system for tracking your game and the app is better too and provides the same statistics Arrcos does, for a more cost effective price.

You might want to give the Garmin CT10s a go. Meant to be much more accurate and will pick up 99% of your shots.
Only downside is you need to have a garmin watch for GPS, which is an added cost.

the app is accounting for wind. you are not. in some of your screenshots, you are hitting into a 17 mph headwind. of course, it's going to tell you that your 7-iron is going to go less distance into that wind. details.

These were just a few examples of continuous wrong info from the virtual caddie. On multiple occasions on short par 4s it was telling me to hit a 5iron off the tee to leave a 7 iron to the green because my 7 iron stats were good when the play was a lofted hybrid to leave a Wedge..
It's just not quite there yet as a complete package in my opinion and I've been better off without it utilising my own course strategy

    • @ScratchAt50
