As always I like your commentary. Just a couple of things . A I love that car...I'm aiming for a 2020 metallic green with tan interior. Our family car is an 2010 xf. It's been virtually problem free. I do most of my own maintenance oil, coolant flush /fill, brakes , suspension , seals , gaskets etcetera. I think the only thing I could imput is the rust on your underside. I own a dustless blasting company and deal with rust all the time. If it was me I'd get that car off the ground and pressure wash that underside with a sulfite remover and spray a rust converter / sealer/ primer and coat with spray an effective epoxy . I was going to say coat with a bedliner but if your just treating rust it might potentially come back and I wouldn't want it trapped. That's it. Keep those vids coming

Thanks Douglas, that’s a great tip and I agree it would be great to give it a good cleansing. The fortunate part is that most of the rest of the car is aluminum and plastic so little will corrode other than exhaust and cross frame. Either way, I like clean parts as well.

Bit of a bad luck story (granted not as bad as others). My 2015 V6S has gone through pretty big repairs.. it does have a little over 90k miles so it is more expected. Ive had the "new" upgraded Y pipe crack on me and that was replaced with the aluminum ones I found thru the forum (also replaced that coupler on the SC you were mentioning for an EATON one) . AC compressor replaced, an air leak from the symposer replaced, coolant tank replaced, a sagging leather headliner I DIY'ed fixed, and now am needing a new LSD differential (I truly hope you never experience the howling and grinding noise)... giving jaguar 500 can dollars for an oil change and visual inspection is throwing money away, it would be the easiest oil change you could ever wish for you just need a $ 90 vacuum pot from princess auto thats the handiest tool to have in your shop watch the sales like a hawk and the proper oil can be had at a reasonable price find a pet parts man that will get you proper oil filters for $ 35 ( the real price without the obscene mark up ) you can consistently do your oil in 15 minutes for less than a $150 dollars from above , and for those who say you should do the oil from below these cars were designed to be vacuumed you will get more oil out every time also if you do it from the bottom after 4 or 5 oil changes the under body covers will just fall off they were never meant to be removed repetitively, as for the visual , any well read (the forums) owner will do a better inspection than most techs who have very little skin in the game a hand held infa red thermometer will tell you the state of many of the systems on your car instantly. if you have a problem you dont understand find a good independent shop , avoid the dealer, this is coming from someone who was a factory apprenticed mechanic admittedly in the late 90s but since then jaguars attitude to the service side has become even worse the only not hard but tedious bit is you have to sneak up carefully on the full mark of the stupid electronic gauge , if you overfill the computer will have a hissy fit telling you to flat bed it to the dealer , but hey you have a vacuum pot and can solve that problem in seconds

There is always good money on the table and that’s the way I have generally approached the ownership of most of my cars and have adopted this attitude of DIY which, like you say, also gives you the opportunity to inspect and clean a little”while you are in there”. .
