    Someone probably already told you but that top hose is just a bowl vent. It from the factory would have gone to the charcoal canister to catch excess fumes

    LET'S GO!!!
    I've wondered so many times why you never ran the fuel line direct to the pump instead of messing with the electric setup you had. I bought a 66 Galaxie in college, that was how it was setup, the fuel was a gallon jug wedged in the corner 🤣I did the same thing when I got the 68 Cougar I had running since the fuel line to the back of the car was rusted out.
    If you haven't figured out a fuel tank you like yet, what about a tank from like a 78ish F600 or another big truck? I watched a show once where they used an old beer keg as the fuel tank mounted on the side (not my style of build) but something like a small semi tank (round, horizontal)

      Well, thanks so much for the comment and thoughts. I can't come up with the great ideas without you giving them. Seriously, I try and use all the ideas and store them. I usually don't use the system on the truck out of fear that it has some level of junk sitting in it.
      The fuel tank i ended up with was 100 bucks. I do like the belly tanks you're mentioning, but they are 600 plus. The issue I was trying to figure out was twofold. One to fit in the location and one that the sending unit fit in and worked. So thankful I got close. Def appreciate the feed back keep the ideas coming.

    • @BlueJeanF150
      @BlueJeanF150 Месяц назад +1

      Could a radiator shop dip that tank and get it clean?
      My thought on the F600 tank was it might fit the spot and you could find a used one (if it’s not in the same condition as what you already have)
      Kinda crazy the factory pickup tanks don’t fit that truck.

    Let’s Go From Kentucky. The state government repair facility where I retired from had several of the GMC & Chevrolet 2,1/2 ton dump trucks in which after those trucks got a few years on them, The tanks would very badly rot out due to the rock salt and calcium chloride that we used to treat the roads with during the snow and ice events. We had a horrible time trying to find replacement fuel tanks for those trucks especially. Another problem was the mild steel oil pans that would pour out engine oil which was quite messy as you could imagine. We found a very good source for stainless steel oil pans that solved the leaking issue.
    I have worked on and also fabricated several of the mounting brackets for both the fuel and the hydraulic reservoir tanks which were also mounted on our trucks.
    On my 1990 F-150, There’s either the steel fuel tanks or the plastic fuel tanks which look pretty similar to one another. Do you think that in the long run that the plastic tanks may be less problematic than the steel tanks? For the small engine stuff, I think the plastic tanks never have any issues unless they have the molded fittings which were bad about snapping off. There’s a quick and easy fix for that too.

      All new vehicles have plastic bladders so gotta be good for sure. That's awesome. Thanks for the comment and support

      @@JMRRebuilders I’m very strongly considering replacing my steel gas tanks with the plastic version tanks. What engine was that in the truck that was in the video, I didn’t catch that. I do remember that the older Fords could be very cold natured and could really drink some gas. I had a F-350 with a 400 bored .030 over that seemed like it could use a 1/4 tank of gas from town to home about 7 miles away.

    • @JMRRebuilders
      @JMRRebuilders  9 дней назад +1

      @@JMRRebuilders Actually, I stumbled upon this video earlier this evening and was naturally curious. I will look for some of your other videos with this truck in it.
      When I had my Ford F-350 I had considerable difficulty with the valve seats eroding away because of the difference between the leaded gasoline cylinder heads vs the cylinder heads intended for use with unleaded gasoline. I think that I pulled the cylinder heads off about 2-3 times which was a costly proposition each time. When the engine ran well, It was pretty strong - But unfortunately it just wouldn’t stay that way. When my truck ran its best, I sold the truck to a farmer who loved the steel flatbed that was on back and the dual rear wheel. That was the only Ford that I owned that had a lousy heater.
