  • Tom Buck, pastor of FBC Lindale, TX, and his wife, Jennifer, have been slandered and blackmailed by some of the higher-ups within the SBC in a brazen and ungodly political ploy. In today's video, I interview Tom and Jennifer and let them tell their own story themselves. I think this will encourage you.
    Jennifer Buck's article at G3:

I loved my husband and I still remember that I tried so hard to get us help. Counseling, mature Christian mentors, etc. He was a narcissist and it was a dark disorder. I still ask God should I have tried harder but I became suicidal and hopeless.

Thank you for this interview. Love how the Lord can and does heal relationships. I was married to an extremely abusive man for 20 years. We had 3 children. We divorced about 16 years ago. I hated him for so long until I truly began seeking God. He became very very I'll and ultimately ended up in a nursing home and unable to walk or even be transferred from his bed to his wheelchair. By the end of his life I saw God take a monster and turned him into a gentle humble loving kind believer. He also helped me to repent from all my part of our abusive life together and he brought healing to our relationship. We became friends. I was remarried and am still with that husband. But God gave my current husband a tenderness and kindness to allow me to remain friends with my ex husband. By the end of his life I was visiting him at the nursing home reading the Bible to him at his request. He was illiterate and unable to read so he asked me to read the Word to him. He repented for all the abuse over the years and he placed his total trust in Jesus. And the transformation was AMAZING! I will forever recall and share how God changed us and healed us. There is always hope in Christ❤️

I've heard the Buck's tell their story several times. Each time it was consistent and there is no reason to disbelieve it. How refreshing to see a pastor and his wife lay out their own struggles and sin as an example of redemption in Jesus. It is immoral and unbiblical to see how their past struggles have been used against them by professing christians. Leadership accountability and Biblical church discipline are so badly needed in our time. The world and many "churches" are often indiscernible.

My wife passed from cancer just about two years ago and the Holy Spirit convicted me of similar things over the last two years. No physical but most certainly verbal. Being brought to your knees in tears when your hidden sin is revealed to you is very painful...and very good at the same time.
Thank you for sharing your story, many men need to hear this, and know that healing is possible in submission.

I'm a member of the "survivor community" but I want nothing to do with the survivor movement. You do have to heal and move on after abuse, but you don't need to make your abuse more significant than your healing.
I love what Brother Voddie said to him after reading the article. That's what true regeneration looks like, because whether you were a survivor or an abuser, God is a Healer. We were all something broken before Christ began a good work in us, but if we are in Him, He will be faithful to complete it.
People need to learn to forgive and examine their own hearts.

What an excellent interview. I love they way they tell their story. I agree with some people are scared to hear it. My husband and I have been married for 11 years, and for the first 4 years we lived miserably in many of the same ways they described their marriage in the beginning. Praise God a couple from our church started ministering to us and counseling us. We worked through it all and have a beautiful marriage like it is supposed to be. When couples have been redeemed by God, it is such an amazing thing. If it was not for our r hearts turning and the other couple stepping up to help us we would not have made it either. There are people who do not receive our story well either however and it is still so perplexing.

I can really relate to this story. Iam married now for 29 years. I come from a very insecure background, and am by nature very insecure. My wife, on the other hand, came from a very secure ubringing.
I will, and can never, forget the day when we were married for about two years, when I got irritated with my wife. I do not remember what it was that irritated me, but I grabbed her with my hands and was about to strike her across the face. To this day I will never forget the fear in her eyes. That was a turning point for me in our marriage. I never wanted, ever, ever, to do that again. My mother and father were both alcoholics and they used to beat each other up as far as I can remember.
The day I lifted my hands towards my wife was the worst moment in my life. I was also in ministry. That day has been in my mind and heart forever since. I am glad it is. I know she has forgiven me and that God had forgiven me. But, I am glad I have never forgotten it because it is a stark reminder just how evil I was and hoe Satan can use even Christians to mess things up and bring disdain to God's Holy name and that is something I never ever would do again, and have never ever thought of doing again. Just me telling this story brings pain and shame.
I have also shared my story with my church and during counselling others. The point I always try and make is that the Gospel of Christ truly can change a person and sanctify them to a point where sin and abuse to others, especially one's spouse becomes repugnant to them, even the mere thought.. Since then, Ephesians 5:25-33 has been my go to portion of Scripture as a reminder of how I am to love my wife.
I am thankful for Christ's redeeming and sanctifying work, so much so, that my sons, now in their mid twenties, tell us that we are an icon and an example of what marriage should be. Believe it or not, so do my inlaws as well. I say that, because when I first met my wife and when we first got married, they did not like me at all. But, I thank God that they too have seen what Jesus can do and they have remarked on that quite often
Do I still fail here and there? ABSOLUTELY! But, I thank the Lord for my wife that is not only my gift but the person who keeps me in check and honest all the time.
Thank you Tom and Jennifer and Justin for your story. I can certainly relate.
    Ephesians 5:25-33 (ESV).
25Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.a 28In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30because we are members of his body. 31“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

This couple was able to repair, restore, and enhance their marriage through Godly, biblical counseling. They have tried for many years to help other Christian couples with their troubled marriages. This should be lauded and uplifted, but instead, the SBC has criticized them and tried to destroy their reputations. The SBC is a lost denomination. Why any church would want to remain in this institution is beyond me?

Thank you for sharing this, brother Justin. It does give me hope. I so wish I could find help here locally for my husband and me. We have no church home and our search for one has been _tremendously_ difficult. My husband is a wonderful provider, but is still very much a "baby" Christian. He's never progressed in his walk since he was saved. Sometimes I wonder if he really IS saved, but that's not for me to say. I can't see his heart, but I can see his fruit -- or lack thereof. My father passed away more than 20 years ago and having no pastor (or pastor's wife) to turn to is discouraging. I feel as if I've been wandering in the wilderness for 20+ years. I don't know why God has not seen fit to answer my prayer for help, but I keep putting one foot in front of the other, hoping He soon will.

This was such an encouraging interview! And it is ALWAYS a blessing to see when marriages are restored through Christ! It really upsets me that some professing Christians would rather support the world’s ideologies of the “victim” mentality as opposed to seeing the gospel at work in people’s lives. What the SBC has proven is that there are many tares amongst the wheat.

I am so grateful I clicked on this video, I needed to see this testimony! Things at times my marriage struggles with. Thank you for sharing . Amen to what they are both sharing! That's one of the reasons we left a Calvary, no discipline when sin was brought to attention within the congregation or the pastor " it would just be brushed under the rugs" , so we left and now our at another ⛪️ praise God for all!

Justin, Tom, and Jennifer, thank you for a wonderful interview. I had heard various bits and pieces, but was glad to hear it from Tom and Jennifer themselves. In today's hipster church, who says we need to be authentic, honest, and open, well, here you go! And what did they get, their story being weaponized to use against Tom and Jennifer both. Tom, because he is a well known pastor in the SBC who takes strong biblical stands on many issues. And Jennifer, who they wanted to bring her ball and come and play with them, wouldn't do it. What these evil people did, just like Joseph's brothers, is being used of God for good. Now, because of all of this, many MORE couples will hear their story and come to know how God's grace can change hearts and lives, for their benefit, and His glory.

I'm so glad about their testimony. A beautiful couple. What I don't understand how a man goes thru seminary, which is intense study of the scriptures and not know how to treat their wifes. It so clear in the New Testament.

      @@arthapeterson5239 You’re obviously not a Christ follower
Your advise is the opposite of the gospel.
I have been and currently living in an extremely abusive marriage for 27 years. Maybe 3 out of the 27 were descent.
The rest have been nothing but a struggle to survive.
My husband has done and at some level continue to do so everything a person can do to destroy a marriage.
Drug addiction for years, pornography addiction, gambling addiction, alcohol addiction, arrests he lost count of, restraining orders from our home for 3 years, numerous affairs, verbal, physical abuse, financially controlling, but most destructive to me is the emotional and mental torment. He also has been diagnosed with ADHD.
After so many years in this I am struggling with a severe depression and fibromyalgia.
We as of today bee have 4 kids struggling with anxiety and depression also, my husband had to be forced to leave the house for the past year and just 3 months ago has been diagnosed with colon cancer stage 3.
Not only has he not paid attention to Gods warnings, he had gotten more angry and defiant. Having shared all that with you, I still felt uncomfortable with you giving this advice to this woman.
I have never been closer to my God or seek Him as much as I have been living this way.
This is my criss to bare and God is helping me through it.
Romans 8:28 had been my family’s verse for years.
Leaving a marriage does not resolve anything. You’re just changing one set of problems for different ones.

What a beautiful testimony of obedience to the Lord in this life that was changed - How dangerous it is before the Lord to trample what God has done in a person's life in trying to destroy the handiwork of the loving Lord - We all are a work in progress before the Lord Almighty.

I have been married 44 yrs and I have never had better counsel than what I heard from this dedicated couple. I am a Pastor's daughter and was sexually abused by my father. The effects of this carried over into my marriage. I am so sorry that people who profess Christianity have caused you both to experience abuse with no reason or cause behind it. Just bullying because if they accept the truth of Godly reconciliation it ruins their whole narrative. They are in danger of losing their own cause and the position and elevated identity that goes with it. This is an abusive spirit. No different than what attacked you in the early years of your marriage. You overcame it then and will overcome it now. I know it is very hard when it comes from those who are using the influence and authority of the church and there are so many who will not hear the truth from you because it is an inconvenient truth that requires action. You are more than overcomers through Christ who strengthens you. The battle continues until we are Glorifed. Keep the whole armor intact and press on together. I have had more encouragement listening to this than ever before. Thank you all. Thank you Justin for giving this precious couple a platform for the truth.

Very glad that Pastor and Mrs Buck were given the opportunity to speak with a man who has Biblical integrity as painful and intimate as this topic was for them. Twisted gossip destroys, which is the intent. Gods redemptive work ignored. I’m adamantly opposed to one sided gossip. My prayer is this interview allows the truth to put the lies to rest. Thank you Justin for giving them a platform.
