Okay, I asked, you delivered. Thank you Tim! I see it a lot in Scandinavian videos with pulling up sink tips. You are right, it gives you a bit more air time to turn the corner.

It's no good for pulling sinktip ups, unless there is preliminary roll cast first, the Scandinavian videos you have seen will be will with full sunk shooting head lines they are regularly under 12 metres , the thin sinking line is much more aero dynamic then a sink tip they use a slow lift and the often fast current lift the short and light shooting heads up through the column so the cast can be done without a initial roll cast, if you try that with a fast sink tip it isn't pretty, as Tims say it's an excellent scandi cast with shorter lines.
I saw Jan Erik Granbo demonstrating it along time ago it's a very powerful cast when executed right. Some of the best casters with the sinking shooting heads combine a roll cast first and do not let the line they go into the spiral from the air that's a very advanced technique

Yes you are so right and we call it spiral spay too. We also do it with a somewhat wider and slower spiral.

I am trying to learn this cast and your videos are helpful because I am also left hand dominant. I can’t help noticing that you say counter clockwise but it looks like you are going through clockwise. My next observation is that other than you casting river right, it looks like the same cast called a Snake Roll when casting river left. Check out the Loop how to shake roll video.

Nice. If the current is going the other direction and you were casting over your right shoulder, you would do the circle clockwise?
