The jumbo jet flying close to the roof before a massive firefight.
A "tradition" in Hong Kong, there was an airport really close to the city of Kowloon that a lot of people living there went to the rooftop just to watch airplanes flying right above their head during the old time.
Unfortunately the airport is now turned into a port.
I can feel the rumble of the jet
in real life it was because of the kai tak airport
That was awesome plus the rain and thunder drowning out the gunfire was pretty cool
@@crystalteardrop2605 Yep. Just adds more to the badass element.
Me as a 13yr old: "who TF flies a plane that low!?!"
Same
Can you imagine this was real? The old Kowloon airport was just next to those rooftops in real life.
Oh boy do aviation nuts, pilots and photographers and videographers have a story to tell you......
A long time ago, in a land far away from the modern megahub airport, sat a strip of straight land 11000 feet long jutting out towards Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong. This was Kai Tak Airport, in 1996 it was once the 3rd busiest airport in the world in passenger traffic and number 1 in terms of international cargo. That straight piece of land is Runway 13/31: from 1958 to 1998, it was its only runway. It’s runway 13 landing approach was not only the stuff of legends but everything about its difficulty and sights are absolutely terrifying and TRUE (“its true, all of it” - Not Harrison Ford, probably).
Situated in the very heart of Kowloon, it demanded the absolute best of pilots and made for spectacular views no matter where you stood. To land on Runway 13, planes first had to come in around the west and north side of Lautau island to line themselves up with an Instrument Guidance System - this was a specially modified ILS built in 1974 specifically for this landing approach - this would give the distance measurement not to the start of the runway, but to a giant red and white checkerboard situated on a hill that told pilots when to execute a 47 degree right turn that would line them up with runway 13. If the pilots had to abort their landing, they still needed to make that turn both to avoid buildings down below and to avoid crashing into mountains ahead of the checkerboard. Dangerous, exciting and uniquely Hong Kong, Kai Tak Airport served Hong Kong starting from 1925. But of course, the world marches on and it couldn’t last forever.
In the 1980s, Hong Kong’s economy finally became the financial trading powerhouse we know it today, but that also meant Kai Tak was getting overcrowded: the city grew up around the airport, but it had long since outgrown it. It had limited room for expansion, the noise proximity to residential buildings meant it had operating curfews from 12 pm to 7 am, it’s single runway was unable to further handle growing air traffic and its approach was dangerous and outdated. This small piece of land was quickly becoming the biggest threat to Hong Kong’s lifeblood: TRADE.
To not be left behind, Hong Kong desperately needed a new airport. After many years of surveying, work finally began on the new airport in 1991 at the islands of Chek Lap Kok and Lantau. The massive megaproject was finally complete on July 6, 1998. And then there was only one thing left to do: permanently shut down the old airport for good.
After the last flight departed, the control tower held a small ceremony to shut down the runway lights. It ended with the airports head of operations pronouncing:
“Goodbye Kai Tak, and Thank You.”
And the runway lights were shut off for the last time. Kai Tak’s vehicles, equipment and IATA codes were now transferred to the new Hong Kong airport all in several hours, before the first flight to arrive at the new airport was due at 8 am July 7, 1998.
Xd same
It’s actually really that low as the Kowloon walled city was right near the airport and there was actual concerned if it got any higher it would cause problems
“See, the M-rating in Call of Duty is not just because of the violence, blood and gore. It’s because the player literally needs to be mature enough to understand and respect history, in order to get the most out of it.”
- The Act Man
Ah, I see a man of culture
Fun Fact: I was maybe 9-10 when I played and I understand perfectly well. Still do now at 13!
Sadly not really the case anymore, Call of duty writing has been very dumbed down as of late.
Understood who that was from as soon as I read the 1st line
wish this still applyed lol
Hudson: “You are very well prepared for a dead man”

How did cod go from this to what it is now. I feel sorry for the younger people that didn't get to grow up with master pieces like this
well we are all glad that we played golden era cod
Fuck this game was so good.. also right after MW2, this was the first game I actually managed to get the last prestige (15th prestige). Don’t even get me started on zombies
Extremely similiar to 'Black Cats' from WaW!
Joshua Roe Hell yeah. Especially since they're both probably one of the best levels in their respective games.
yeahhhhh so true, world at war very fucking best
blarghinatelazer I’d think the best level from WaW was downfall, the music is fucking B E A S T and the level means so much emotionally to the player and such
Ring of Steel and Eviction for me. War raging through the streets of a modern city is so fucking cool. Especially with the part of Eviction where you fight your way down a street towards the subway station and that song Boldman City comes on. Fucking epic
Same composer
*sees CZ-75*
*Insanely goes on a killing spree with this booming in the background*

this shit had no business being this lit and yet it was and it's amazing 😭
I was one of those people who stayed true to Black ops 1 and hated black ops 2. I am still defending my position to this day. This game was way better than 2.
Best cod song outta any cod
Go running to this song. Seriously.
Remember when video games had good music (and in the case of MW3 [the new one] music at all)?
Just becouse i accept the inevitability of my fate doesn't mean I'm in any hurry to embrace it
Whatever you say English
Song of evenement CoD MW 🤩
This still gets me all hyped in 2021😂😂
R.I.P Doctor Daniel Clarkе. Man with big brain and big balls

we had this game!!! it is funny how because of some parts of the soundtrack some memories flashed in my head of me and my 2 brothers talking about this soundtrack!!
They were playing this shit in Warzone!
A masterpiece of video game soundtracks
Yeah, this brings back memories
No one talks about how close that plane comes when it flies over you. Super cool cinematic moment complimenting everything else going on
This is THE most badass video game soundtrack wver
I just listened to this at WarZone and hit me pretty good, my favourite Call Of Duty so far.
My favorite mission and ost.

COD was good then because we hadn't played much COD at that point. Give it a few more years and we get to BO2/Ghosts and we start to realise the games released each year are very similar.
