    Thank you. I have reached to a final conclusion: in order for Mac to be healthy, fast and hassle-free, avoid Microsoft and Adobe products. In this case, once I bought (not subscribed to) the affinity products, I completely migrated from the money-draining products of Adobe. Besides, no more hassles about Adobe sneaky bugs, or start-ups.

    • @macmost

      FWIW, I have both Microsoft and Adobe software on my Mac. Getting the Microsoft apps from the Mac App Store means you don't need to download the cloud apps from Microsoft at all, BTW.

      Yep. Got rid of Adobe photoshop and illustrator for Affinity a few years ago and my laptop runs 1000x better.

  • @peterc2248
    @peterc2248 2 года назад +5

    This is one of the reasons why I'm hoping that Affinity develop something that can replace Lightroom. I love Lightroom but hate that Adobe (and others) seem to want to track my every move presumably so they can sell me something or sell my activity trends etc. I'm not a privacy nut but its too intrusive and insidious.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 года назад +1

      First, what's wrong with using Photos? What feature of Lightroom do you like that Photos does not? Second, I'm not sure that is true about Lightroom tracking any of that.

    Do you automate this process? I can imagine a script that cleans these out whenever Adobe is shut down so don’t have to redo it manually all the time.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 года назад +2

      Well this process involves startup items. No need to automate because it stays that way. But I could see building a shell script or something that kills the processes once they have started. Very different thing, but possible. You'd have to carefully figure out what the processes are, and use some shell script code to convince them to quit gracefully. It may be possible but I haven't looked into it.

    This is excellent advice and I am going to do it. Thanks. I have also downloaded some Creative Cloud apps that my Adobe subscription allows me to have but that I have not used. It seems to me that I should delete those apps -- if I ever need one of them I can download it again, but if I don't use them, as you explain it they create more bother than just take up- a relatively little space on my SSD. This is correct, isn't it? Thanks again.
