Got an email from my 3-letter agency I work for that it's mandatory to report your status as a veteran and fill out a form in case of a "recall" to active duty so they can fill the ranks. This is an obvious sign that this draft is on the horizon.
My dad joined the military during the Vietnam era (he didn't go to Nam, he was sent to Germany). When he realized that his draft number was coming up he decided to join ROTC so that he'd at least go in as an officer. This isn't really stopping yourself from getting drafted, but it puts you in a better position to not die in any war where a draft is required by starting out as an officer. You do less cool guy stuff but you do get paid better.

I remember that, during the Vietnam war, some of the students who had a low GPA and a LOW draft number, were worried that they would be drafted, because they could lose their 2S deferment status because their GPA was too low. So, they went to their antiwar professors and asked for a higher grade in their courses for the reason that I stated. Some professors did give a higher grade and the students were able to maintain their 2S status because their GPA was higher. I am 74 years old now and I remember this.
A few points. 1.If the US never went to a draft for GWOT when the military had recruiting issues and had to lower standards regarding drug use, criminal history, and lack of a high school diploma, why would it bring a draft back now? 2. A draft would need to be an act of congress and would be immediately challenged as discrimination against men if woman were not registered. In the past the government got around This on registration because nobody was actually drafted and women were barred from combat jobs. Since the express purpose of a draft is to replace combat troops, women wouldn’t be called up. Now days a drafted male could go to a unit with volunteer female infantrymen and led by female officers and sergeants. If women can now lead men in combat why should women be except from a draft? The US military doesn’t want to deal with guys who don’t want to be there.Boot Camp/ basic training would need to be more brutal to force people to accept military discipline which leads to morale issues and officers getting shot in the back
I am a Retired TACP, you have no clue, the military is decimated. Units are very undermanned, they have NO CHOICE, but to start a draft. NO CHOICE, so I actually put it at 80%. Biden and Harris are fully controlled, by the CIA, NSA, FBI, DOJ, DOD, and etc. Congress will act woman and men will be drafted, mostly likely starting up to 30 years old and then up to 50 years old. They will not be replacing anyone they will fill out the ranks. The military will adapt basic to use what ever force needed to make people comply. When I went through basic and AIT for CAV Scout they still put hands on you and kicked your ass if out of line. They will bring back old guys to kick ass. One thing I saw in 20 years was the military will do what ever it has too do.
We should draft women too. Very few would make it to combat roles, but the US military is a massive apparatus that requires far more support staff than it does combat staff
Men and women are not equal and that isn’t a bad thing. We need to go back to traditional roles. They shouldn’t be forced to serve. I’ve seen how women in the military are don’t let your relatives become barracks bunnies.
Why? You would really put your life on the line for this society knowing full well that our government is purposely causing a conflict to cover up the fact they stole our financial system and the Dollar is about to hyperinflate?
During WW2 the U.S Army had an experiment called the 77th Infantry Division the majority of the soldiers where over 25-40 years old in that Division. So much older Soldier's, thats the same unit Combat Medic Desmond Doss was in.
My Great Uncle, during the start of WW2 for the US, declined a nice cushy job from a recruiter working on speedboats. Eventually got drafted as a tank mechanic in the 3rd Armored.
I’m one of the few 43 year olds that can say they re-enlisted in 2024. I joined the infantry. There’s a lot of talent in the new generation. America has another generation of leaders. History repeats. Tough times don’t last but tough people do. We are ready! Join us if you love America. 💪💪
They can implement the draft if they want to. It still won’t change the fact that they will be drafting from a pool of sorry, fat, lazy, incompetent, mostly unpatriotic young men who don’t want to be there, and even if they can be forced to be there, you can’t force them to perform once they are there.
I think besides a non combat MOS, your second best option would be a job that is still needed during war. I am just guessing here: police, fire fighter, prison guards, companys producing weapon systems etc. In my country police officer cant be drafted. But in ukraine they deployed prison guards with their prisoners into battle.... so, non combat mos might still be the best option

I've been hearing rumblings in the Veteran community here in Australia about national service being brought back here as well mate. For such a small military the ADF is woefully undermanned like the US. You are 100% bang on about the draft being the norm not the exception. As another point for Nate saying the Draft is likely to happen soon, I "randomly" received my Selective Service certificate/license in the mail last week. I never signed up due to many people telling me I shouldn't, because I am wheelchair bound from birth. I would love to serve in the military, even in a support roll, but I got laughed out of the office when I tried in 2010.

I’ve been out for a few years but I’m still eligible for recall. I’m not at all pleased with the current situation, and don’t agree with our involvement in any of the conflicts ongoing that our government perpetuated. That being said, if I get called, I’ll go. If not me, then who? It’s not right if some 18-20 year old kid goes in my place. Besides, we can’t live forever, men. Damn, this sucks though. I just want to live a good life and be there for my family. I know we will be reunited with Christ in Heaven one day though.
It is likely some retired servicemembers with extensive experience will be recalled in the event of multiple conflicts. Not to fight, but train others to survive due to losses. This has occurred during every war since 1917. WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and GWOT. Personally trained approximately 3500 from 2000-2003. Not surprised when met some in combat later.
Valhalla VFT there will never be another draft in the U.S. I retired after 21 years in the Army 31 January 2024. I have done many years in recruiting when I came home from deployment to Iraq in 2005. Our country has an unbelievable amount of people that try to enlist into the military. But they get disqualified for some of the dumbest reasons. We will never have to draft, we could go back through the many, many disqualified applicants because of the new MEPS medical system. Please don’t tell people there is a chance of a draft. They could easily pass waivers to applicants who want to serve. A draft would have more disqualified applicants than ever! Just my opinion brother
Im one of them man. Lost an ROTC scholarship and officer track cause of a peanut allergy, couldn’t get a waiver because CA doctors were too scared of malpractice lawsuits. Tried enlisting but no one has bothered, said GENESIS would just auto deny me cause when you have Peanuts, most doctors(and it turned out mine did too) just auto put down tree nuts as well. Such a RIP situation
I skipped a career in the Airforce because the two doctors at MEPS couldn't agree about the language about "annual checkups" from my dermatologist that removed a non cancerous mole, of which I shouldn't have even disclosed as a surgery... My recruiter knew it was BS so he didn't even tell me about waivers of which I had no knowledge of at the time... After over 6 months of waiting I was called to return to MEPS for partial reprocessing/swearing in... That over 6 months of bureaucracy and some relationship changes/presidential decisions turned that 100% guaranteed walk in recruiter's wet dream into him probably breaking something in his office 😂 Small town recruiter, trying mostly to get officers from the local university because most walk in's couldn't meet Airforce minimums lit up when I walked in, wanted to join, then took the practice ASVAB and he was surprised how quickly I finished, then showed my practice score compared to the last few months of results knowing he had a sure bet... After running checks he had me going to MEPS asap with only 2 other recruits for the last 2 or 3 months! (not officers recruits lol, since it was off season for graduation sniping, although both other recruits were females who left/dropped out of that university, one of which he had to buy socks/shoes for because she only brought flip flops for a multi day trip to the nearest MEPS station! 🤣) I'd say he would still remember my name and probably try to fight me if I somehow ran into him (assuming he suvived being a recruiter for that region of course) I couldn't even imagine a recruiter from any branch in 2024 letting someone put that in a packet as a surgery or having MEPS center doctors think it needed further branch medical board review... Standards have certainly changed, especially with the more known/used waivers reccomended from the recruiter intake interviews to try jamming anyone through! 😄 I wish I remembered that original ASVAB score (the real one, not the single practice test) and could take the 2024 version for comparison. Just to see the changes in nearly two decades... 🤔
@@berryreading4809 you're right but I believe the migrants will be drafted to supplement the country's recruitment numbers, they voted so they are citizens now
@ That’s a solid question! I think what they need to do first is reevaluate the current MEPS process. This way they can see how many more troops they can get to fill the ranks with our current all volunteer force. If they thought there was a lot of draft dodging with the Vietnam war. There would be an astronomical number of Americans running to Canada and Mexico. This generation of young adults, not all of them. 100% would not even pick up a weapon let alone fight in a war. They’d be better off asking retired veterans who are still young enough to do the job come back into the ranks! American citizens are not built like they were back in World War 1 and World War 2. Too many of our citizens are not willing to die for freedom. I believe if they did do a draft many of the draftees would lay down on the battlefield and become POWs or KIAs. It’s sad actually!
Lol i guess im weird cuz i actually want a draft to happen cuz i got diagnosed with a "mental disorder" BPD over a one time incident and they didnt let me in the army yet there not gonna give a fuck about that or other bullshit when they need people 😂😂😂
One of the people i work with is a rehabilitation psychologist. I asked him how he got into the field. He got drafted, and cut a deal with the government to go work at the VA instead. While he longer works at the VA, 55 years later, he still does work with them.
You are significantly closer and more informed about the status and attitudes regarding under-recruitment, but I am completely on firm ground arguing that a false flag event is far more likely to happen before the draft based on these three propositions. 1) The Republican party, specifically the Trump ticket, and those who will be responsible for staffing the Trump administration, are significantly more aligned with the neo-cons of the '90s-'00s foreign policy positions; 2) Israel is going after their crown jewel, Iran, and at best seem to be minorly delaying the advancement of the Likudnic plan while the current admin attempts to redirect and control the situation, but at worst seem to be completely controlling the situation because they have the Congress and our state (as well as soon to be President-elect) completely captured; and 3) propaganda is a significantly stronger motivator of a good fighting force than coercion. 9/11 was nationally televised, and the operation was largely carried out by Mossad. It will be far easier to have another false-flag event, perpetuated by "Iran," that drives good, service-minded men in the country to enlist. If however, the veil is too worn thin, or there is some divine intervention that allows for the plan to be betrayed due to the new era of information flow and technology, then I could 100% see a draft happening. One thing I DO agree with you on: it does not look good, and a global conflict is almost certainly going to happen within the next 5 years.
In WW 2, men up to the age of 55 were drafted. With our healthcare and life expectancy so much higher today, I'd imagine the draft age would be even higher. Older people being drafted would probably be in support MOSs to free up younger men for combat specialties like infantry or artillery.
From the Aussie perspective as a 20 year ('87-'07) now retired vet of our military, our government has been trialling $40k sign on bonuses after the initial engagement of 4 years with limited success. Yesterday they announced they're reducing it to 30k but offering it to personnel who subsequently re-engage after that. For those that have already served longer than 8 years, nothing. Australia doesn't offer 20 year military pensions anymore (I was amongst the last), so there's absolutely no incentive not to walk and apply the mostly easily transferable skills, particularly proven management acumen etc, to higher paying and safer jobs where you get to go home to your family every night. Yet they scratch their head at the skill drain at what you guys know as E-5 to E-8. I'm not sure about you Yanks, but most of my mates when I served were against conscription, "the draft", national service or whatever you want to call it, for one reason: Do you really want to rely on someone with your life that doesn't want to be there? It may be a moot point though for the US military given the current world-wide clusterfuck. Many countries that have national service and you try to avoid it on either mental or physical grounds will find a job that suits whatever proven condition you have.
Navy forced me out after 2 1/2 years. They didn't want me then, they can get fucked now. And god help any recruiter who knocks on my door any time soon
This was a great video, I appreciate the honesty about a subject thats not really talked about. I wouldn't avoid a draft, probably wouldn't agree with a call up either but things happen some times. I'd go willingly and enlist if the draft was instituted because like you said I'd have a better chance of going into something, I'd want to do something like working with drones or maybe like satellite technician, maybe something in the medical field sounds better too. One thing I know I won't do is avoid it and not because there is negative consequences but because I feel like it would be a calling or like a duty.
Alrighty. Please don't go popping civvies who disagree (in appropriate fashion) with your superior's orders. Good luck and stay hydrated. Also, baby powder is your friend.
You know the millitary should spend some money on elective summer camps. Start it at freshman year in hs, then as each year goes on make it a bit longer and more intense. You can incorporate some history, some education on what jobs are available, physical training, psychological resiliance, self defense, and eventually some weapons. I don't even know if protest do anything.
You can already see them even on LinkedIn talking about how feminism lied to them and being a mother is the best thing a woman can do. Lol repeal the 19th
My dad did army ROTC and became a procurement officer in the early 60's to avoid being drafted as a private. You're absolutely right. People who are afraid of going to combat should enlist in the air national guard and go into a support MOS like waste management or something. Joining a Marine reserve unit like I did would more than likely result in a deployment to combat. So heck, just join the Space Force or something.
@jeremymarlin1850 Yeah, but you're still much less likely to be sent to an infantry unit as a replacement if you enlist and choose your job rather than wait to be drafted. So it is true.
Good like trying to dodge it. Best to just sign up, do your time, get out. It’s like saying I won’t pay taxes. They eventually find you. With tech today, you can be tracked anywhere so, good luck. Appreciate the laughs Nate 👍
My Dad enlisted while in school with deferred service to get out the draft. A few of his friends did not and were killed. I do think enrollment in the military is down, but it is becoming an economic necessity for more and more young people due to the terrible job situation.
I'm glad to see another reasonable man with my take on american apathy. Even though the internet is forever, i can say that i have lived without electricity and running water for over a year before in difficult terrain. Yes, i had a job, a personal vehicle, and a smartphone. But considering how 2 jobs arent enough, seeing that women (in my circumstance) are making me wait until they are 35y/o + obese + tubes tied, and being that ill likely never own a decent home at any point in the next decade, i am honestly considering just letting the bank take everything and trekking to some inhospitable artic village. Or, ill live in the woods again. Im growing natural anti biotics, developing improved crops, and learning how to produce my own clothes. I just dont see the point in dying for Israel/The Swamp/Satan. This isnt how i saw my life playing out. I feel kinda lost, but I can't just stop moving. Maybe I'll feel emotions again one day and grow closer to my God. I dont honestly know, though.
@Paddy-McNasty I don’t blame any younger guys for not wanting to serve given the current state of affairs, we haven’t been pursuing a coherent policy that advances our national interests in decades at this point and we’ve been degrading our global standing and strength since the 90’s. We need a drastic shift in governance and eventually a return to a mandatory service model with the caveat being we need much more responsible and accountable leadership, not people like lindsey graham or pelosi etc etc
I've done some research since your last videos on this subject. First, there is no such thing as the "government". It is just a bunch of people doing jobs. Those people are for the most part highly incompetent. Secondly, there are simply not enough of these people to enforce anything on a large scale. Thirdly, regardless of the perception, we, the people, are still in charge and if we decide to do or not do something, we win, the government loses. Stating one will go to prison if they ignore the draft is simply incorrect and the facts from the Vietnam era do not support your claims at all. These are the facts during the Vietnam war: 1,800,000 men drafted. 600,000 men noncompliant. 200,000 charged. 8,000 arrested. 3,000 convicted and imprisoned. 0 served full sentences. 33% of draftees fled/ignored the draft. Only .5% faced consequences. The government cannot force one into combat. It is clear that the best option would be to totally ignore any draft notice and the chance that anything will happen to you is basically zero. What you are stating does not hold up to past precedent. By these numbers, clearly the best thing to do is ignore the draft and carry on with your life as you would have a 99% chance that nothing would happen to you.
If we fight a real peer to peer war, like you said, we are going to need soldiers, sailors, marines, air force, and hundreds of thousands of Cyber experts!
Here we go again. I remember a few years back when all my staff NCOs wouldn’t shut tf up about war with I think Venezuela. Still waiting on that conflict to kick off 4 years later. Also remember a North Korea scare we had. Still never happened.

The truth is the legal system is so bent on giving everybody a criminal record and as a result they will likely screw themselves over for not being able to draft anyone. Nobody I know has ever said that they were very smart to begin with.
@ well personally I’ve already been planning to enlist anyways, my Dream jobs are about as Combat role as you can get anyways, but I’m just saying for the people worried about being enlisted and sent to the trenches enlisting and doing some of the jobs he talked about might be the better option.
Great video as always, though Muhammad Ali isn't a good example of a draft dodger. The US government and Army bent over backwards to accommodate him, promised him a position where he'd just entertain, give talks and generally be a face to promote. Ali listened to all the easy options, would never have been put in danger and still refused and took the punishments just on principle.
We have had four sitting presidents that dodged the draft to Vietnam. (Clinton, Bush jr, Trump, Biden) If they can do it and still become president then so can we. 😂

Veterans who have already served whether or not they have a VA disability, would they likely be sent back to the original service they served in? Or would they be put into a new service?
Really just depends. If you’ve got serious physical disabilities/injuries then it’s unlikely unless we hit catastrophic Ukraine levels of need for troops.
@ValhallaVFT no, my injuries aren't that serious. Just some back issues, degenerative disc disease, sciatica. 50% VA disability rating. I'm 46. I don't think I'd be the first one called up. While I did serve honorably. To be honest, I don't wanna serve again. Not saying that I would do anything drastic if they did call me up. I'm just making a point. I voted republican. Unfortunately my home state, Oregon will go blue.
The US has an extradition treaty with Mexico. So it depends on how badly the US government wants him, and also how well your friend gets along with his neighbors in Mexico. From my experience, you scratch their back, and they're more than willing to scratch yours. No matter what it may be.
Agree with your points overall but leaving the country is not as bad of an idea since you can work remotely. Is it an easy path? No, but it’s easier now than it has ever been.
Hey Nate, is a broken back a serious enough disability to not get drafted? I don't have a broken back, but I'm worried for my dad who is 50. He is also a veteran which might make him more likely to get pulled.

Calling Iran the biggest threat while our Southern border is wide open is rich.
Insane that women get to have power in determining the future of a country only men have to be forced to fight for
We should draft women too. Very few would make it to combat roles, but the US military is a massive apparatus that requires far more support staff than it does combat staff
Many other countries (non Muslim obviously) already do. They want equality so I say why only in the C suite.

They can implement the draft if they want to. It still won’t change the fact that they will be drafting from a pool of sorry, fat, lazy, incompetent, mostly unpatriotic young men who don’t want to be there, and even if they can be forced to be there, you can’t force them to perform once they are there.
And that's why it's the undisputed legal population reduction method.... It's in the top 3 reasons for going to war.
In any other country you’d be executed for betraying your country
You can still throw them on the front lines regardless. Military’s have been doing it for thousands of years.

I think besides a non combat MOS, your second best option would be a job that is still needed during war. But in ukraine they deployed prison guards with their prisoners into battle.... so, non combat mos might still be the best option

Yep that’s super normal for large scale conflict as well.
And don't think a DD214 is gonna save you. Remember, you are already trained.

Fine by me, kinda bored these days anyway.
@@berryreading4809 you're right but I believe the migrants will be drafted to supplement the country's recruitment numbers, they voted so they are citizens now
What about when they don't have the luxury of turning people away.
You forgot about the Peace Corp. Peace Corp get deferrals in one year increments (you sign up for one year at a time).
I don't think folks understand your experiance and knowledge. 😮 You're spot on and time will prove you correct. 😢
Jokes on them. I’m already enlisted 😂

Imagine if you will, fleeing the country to avoid the draft and getting drafted by the country you flee to…
I've done some research since your last videos on this subject. These are the facts during the Vietnam war:
1,800,000 men drafted.
All will marvel at the beast

Agree with your points overall but leaving the country is not as bad of an idea since you can work remotely. Is it an easy path? No, but it’s easier now than it has ever been.
Hey Nate, is a broken back a serious enough disability to not get drafted? I don't have a broken back, but I'm worried for my dad who is 50. He is also a veteran which might make him more likely to get pulled.
Physical Injuries as serious as that you’re not getting drafted most likely.
@@ValhallaVFT Thanks, I am not injured so it doesn't apply to me. However that's a sigh of relief for my dad.
I’m a 52y/o vet, and a felon. I have the trifecta.
Everyone is a felon... you mean "Convicted" perhaps?
