Not sure why anyone would give this a thumbs down. These aircraft are beautiful and sound unbelievable. Have always wanted to go to the air races maybe one day. Wish they still did the Lake Erie races that is very close to where I live. Could watch this all day..
I used to go to Reno and Mojave’s as a young boy and the sound of these unlimited warbirds is like hearin my momma call me for her peach cobbler. Bless her soul!
There is no other sound like this n the world I missed out on the best time 2 live ! But my Dad was there WW 2 I really miss Him best friend i ever had!
I used a camera with Film at 3200 th. of a second to stop the prop on these planes at Reno, NV in 1968 (435 a roll for the film then) 36 exposures. Camera for sale now-01/26/2018
The air races aren't hard to go to at all, the crowds aren't massive and the entire week is amazing. Reno's relatively cheap, so there's little reason not to at least come to the air races one time. If you want to go, start planning!
ES UNA MUY BUENA PÁGINA. OTORGA UN BARNIZ MUY DIDÁCTICO DE CADA AERONAVE A TRATAR, PERO SERÍA FORMIDABLE, PERFECTO SI INCLUYERAN MÁS DATOS Y FILMACIONES HISTÓRICAS DE ELLOS. HABEMOS MUCHOS QUE APRECIAMOS LA INFORMACION DEL NACIMIENTO DE CADA AERONAVE. POR FAVOR, INCLUIR MAS FILMACIONES HISTÓRICAS.
PaddyPatrone Thanks for info --- I know that Germany will not release any DB 605 engines of those that are left We need to find some kind of replacements for Marlins Allisons and DB 600 series Maybe a turbo prop??
Shortly after WWII there were P-38s and P-63s at the air races. One P-38 holds the record for P-38s at 440 mph (I think he placed 2nd at that time). As Reno is at 5,000 ft and planes tend to gain 2 mph in speed for every 1000 feet of altitude, that plane was probably capable of something like 480 mph at 25,000 ft. However the P-51s, Bearcats, and Sea Furies appear to dominate the unlimited class now and all are highly modified. I wonder if there has ever been any Griffon powered Spitfires.
If you love these racers check out this website where you can get a LEGO version of some of the most famous racers. I saw them at the Reno races in 2016. Very cool! Rarebear, 232, Voodoo, Precious Metal, Dreadnought, etc... www.flyingbrix.com
Love the THUNDERBOLTS, GRANDFATHER OF MY GENERATIONS ATTACK AIRCRAFT A-10A THUNDERBOLT 2 THE WARTHOG. Eng troop in the 23rd TFW FLYING TIGERS. A10S were on their way out, then came DESERT SHEILD DESERT STORM. Now look were that JEWEL of a aircraft is now , hard pressed to be replaced. To think gen horner was wanting to leave the THUNDERBOLT2 AT HOME IN THE STATES,glade that idiot was not running the show! OATH KEEPERS of AMERICA/ SONS and DAUGHTERS of LIBERTY !

I love this so. Haven't been for several years. Moving to Reno soon. Now, it will be an annual thing for me again!
Whilst I adore each and everyone of those birds…as a Brit, those Sea Fury’s are just something else! What a beautiful design 🇬🇧

There is one word to describe the sound - Goosebumps !!!
Such a primal sound. Love it.
7:22 I've got a nice model of Miss America that I built back in '92! Still in my display case.
Being a pilot is a wonderful thing. There's no place like the sky.
3000+ HP engines, beautiful.
Music, sweet music to my ears!
I remember this video when I was little.
I imagine during ww2 a squadron of badasses with planes as powerful and coloured as these ones 😁👍
There is no other sound like this n the world I missed out on the best time 2 live ! But my Dad was there WW 2 I really miss Him best friend i ever had!
Super prop piston engines : We are speed
Tu-95 : Hello there
The head-on aerial views and run-ups at the end say it all.
Love that Sea Fury
Just ran across your channel and subscribed! Lots of good stuff!

Planes flew by me on East side of the field at about 75 yds.
Yellow Mustang sounds the best
Sawbones is my favorite. That plane is super cool.
Awesome sound indeed!

Absolutely LOVE IT.
Imagine 5 jets going by at supersonic!!

Are there any Bristol Centurous engines still in use?
a few of the Sea Furies Still have them... 5 bladed prop is a giveaway and they turn counter clockwise
*Flashbacks to Planes and Planes Fire & Rescue*
big cams in the 3350 of september fury .any one have any specs. on the engine in this speedster ?
great sound!!
If ever a company started to re-produce full size Mustangs and/or Sea Furies I doubt that they would be able to match the demand. Beautiful aircraft
Michael Naisbitt actually. You can buy all parts of the fuselage new. Same is for Bf109. Problem are the engines
PaddyPatrone Thanks for info --- I know that Germany will not release any DB 605 engines of those that are left We need to find some kind of replacements for Marlins Allisons and DB 600 series Maybe a turbo prop??
Ole Yeller. Was John flying it that year?
I get to watch that plane fly every summer.
Thank You Thank You Thank You..!
anyone notice the F-80C at 2:24 ?
+Sparcer that is the T-33 owned by the Planes of Fame museum, it is used as the pace aircraft.
no...just rare baer!
I know this is only qualification but who won?
Is the Allison 1700 series V-12 ever represented anywhere?

There was a P-51A at Reno in 2006. It did fairly well.
I love p-51 mustang and p-40's
Yahoo.....
When is the 2015 Reno Air Races scheduled ???
normaly in september
thnx
+PaddyPatrone thankt nice video delightful sound
well its pretty boring kind of air race but damn..the sound of these planes is gorgeous
Any p-38 racing aircraft?
Impossible because of hard compression above 650 km/h, they would be too dangerous.
Do these engines have higher compression ratios than the originals? How much higher? Has the metallurgy of some parts been improved?
How much money
they go for?
Saw a P-51 for sale for 2 million.
Late 2022.
@@germancarluv thanks!
Genuine question, why doesn't anybody use TurboProps??
BadAssEngineering nostalgia maybe?
john carl some guy that races on these events answered my inquire on another video and said the unlimited class mandates piston engines
awsome
Nice video, but what I miss is the rock music background...NOT!
SOM LINDO
Anyone know what it costs in FUEL to fly one of the race heats? A 3350 cubic inch, turbo-supercharged engine doesn't run on spit!
And they are probably running specially formulated high octane fuel.
160 octane VP racing fuel.
I wish I could spam like more than once.
0:15 is that an F8F Bearcat?
yup, Rare Bear
beautiful plane
Aaron Ryan Ms Rare Bear.
your fucking right it is
Yep
Cessna 152 i fly is like an ultralight compared to these😊
エンジン音が最高
