Honestly, I would’ve put papyrus a bit higher: he’s one of the only characters that can control some of his stats, he IGNORES the players DEF and LV, which allows him to deal more damage.

Toriel,Asriel,Muffet and a lot of monster can do the same.Yes he don't want to kill you,he want to capture you and hand you over to become a royal squire and become famous but that doesn't mean Papyrus can't fight hard because those who have higher ATK than papyrus and want to kill us like in Core can deals more damage to us than papyrus even with the same or more DEF than when fighting Papyrus. Controlling your own damage or stats is something that any monster can do.

I’m pretty confident that the reason flowey didn’t die from toriels fireball was because she wasn’t trying to kill him and simply wanted to stop flowey from hurting frisk
nope, Flowey himself is very strong when he was killed by 1 knife in Neutral and 6 by Genocide.

@@Charadoesthatgaming the fireball that Toriel threw at Asgore and Flowey was stronger when thrown at us (3 damage per ball) and it was so powerful that it could send both of them flying and both were called disgusting creatures by Toriel so maybe said that Toriel mercilessly beat her husband and children just to protect us
@@asriel3553 i mean you could be right but at the same time just because the fireball is bigger or it had more knockback doesnt mean it was stronger and you gotta consider the fact that we are a "human" and we dont have insane defense and abilities like monsters which makes sense logically since Asgore has full armor on him and i dont think they were very aware that they were going to get a fireball shot at them lol
@@JDD2105 yes, but we can't be sure if Toriel's attack on Flowey is strong and we can't deny that Flowey is very strong as in the past he also did genocide and killed a lot of monsters even Flowey probably killed Sans because Flowey just lost and couldn't get past Asgore

Asgore should be higher, yes as many people said he is holding back due to being guilty and sad about his wife leaveing. He also has fire powers along with him being able to handle a trident. One thing most people forgot is that he destroyed the mercy button like it was nothing! Forcing you even in pacifist to fight him.

Asgore destroys the mercy button not because he wants you to fight him, but because he feels like he doesn't deserve mercy.
I'd move up asgore to a low S probably. If he wasn't holding back he would be a force to be reckoned with and he's pretty close to toriel but he is proficient with a weapon which I think puts him a bit higher

Actually, in Undertale many lore things are stated in the game. I'd say it leaves to speculation about 20%, but definitely not 80%.
@@MilesProwerUA True, Undertale likes to bind gameplay mechanics to lore, but that's not perfect, as not every single gameplay mechanic is backed up(like how monsters dodging works), so it brings up a lot of headcanon, specially since you can't dismiss anything fully as gameplay

@@uandresbrito5685 I mean, it's common logic. If you take a bow, shoot 300 *creatures of the same species* and they just stand there and take the arrow to their head, you don't say "Hmm, maybe those creatures don't know how to dodge, but I'm not sure"
Not everything needs to be said directly to be proven, some things can just be told through the player experience with the world.
Now regarding the HUD, it is mostly a speculation in Undertale, however in Deltarune Ralsei addresses the HUD directly, which means that at least your character can see all those buttons.
You forgot about Flowey's ability to absorb an inconceivable amount of damage. By the end of the genocide route you're dealing enough damage to fill the whole screen with 9s and Flowey survives like 10 hits.

pretty much sure he was done after the first one. chara/frisk just kept on going for the sake of it. neutral run proves it when he takes one hit and dies shortly after. i suppose if chara didn't keep slashing he'd have enough to utter something and then die.

@@jonaut5705 I think the reason hes not vaporizing is that hes a flower and not a monster. Its just frisk who chooses to slash him into oblivion
I could have sworn that at the end of a genocide run you only slice him 8 times
Sans technically does deal one damage per attack. However, the karma status effect you get disabled invincibility frames, adds a poison effect, and prevents attack from vanishing after landing a hit, cause the one damage to be dealt every frame. Also, his hp is actually 1.People argue that it isn’t and that he dies because of the high damage, but in the code, he actually has 1 health, meaning that if he tripped on a rock he’d be dead. If it weren’t for the karma effect, his fight would be a breeze.
1 damage per FRAME is still high though even without karma
Tbh I kind of hate how people see karma as an effect only sans can cast, I prefer to see it as an effect that someone guilty feels when they are judged. Thus of why you feel your sins crawling on your back.
Sans does have more than 1 HP because even though 1 is his limit he’s a slacker and in Undertale sleeping a lot can increase your hp beyond its limits so sans has an undefined amount of hp

By the way, Undyne gives the player half a spear to block with, not a shield, as seen through her manipulation animation.
Edit: I did the research and playtested it myself, and apparently, if you get hit by all Undyne's spears, she soon says "Look, I gave you a spear to block my attacks with."
So yeah, theres proof.
So even in genocide, she still respects you enough to give you a way to fight back

Undyne trying to green soul you without giving you a shield is like trying to punch backward at a moving target, even if you do hit the thing/person behind you, it won’t even do much damage. Sans doesn’t have to worry about not doing much damage, because he only does one damage anyway.

Watching Undertale videos feels pretty nostalgic by now. Can't believe it's been this long already.

Papyrus is actually a lot more powerful than people give him credit for. He is the only character who can create super coordinated attacks (e.g. Spelling out cool dude in bones) and also he can control how much damage you lose. There is no way to die to papyrus, not because he isn't powerful, but because he is too nice to kill you, so I think if he went all out you would be pretty screwed
edit: i forgot to mention this but another thing is that toriel obviously didnt want to kill frisk, but still ended up killing them by accident anyway, either because she didnt know how to finish her attack or she didnt know how to control the damage her attacks do, or even where they go complately. in toriels fight, she can oint her bullets away from you sure, but she still cant get them to actively move away from frisk
plus his stats are literally higher than toriels, who is a BOSS MONSTER
i saw a vid where it explains that papyrus doesnt move at all, when a sprite moves its how concentrated they are in killing you, also in true pacifist he got 4 strings instead of usual 2

I agree with all of it except Asgore. Prime asgore is EXTREMELY strong, which is just told in lore. When fighting, he doesnt even try and is ina. State of deep distress. He literally wanted to die himself. So tbh, based on what undyne and toriel think, asgore deserves to be higher for sure
but is he on the same level as sans? the teleporting, dodging gravity controlling beast.
i would also mention sans is incredibly difficult at LV 19 whereas asgore can easily-ish be beaten with LV 1
@something uncreative sans Keep being trash he only have the chance of that power because of the Karmic retribution, if not he is the weakest monster, 1 def,1 hp(stat in his files), 1 attack, and have limited stamina, he cant even win against chara/frisk because of dt, and pretty sure that a accidental attack could kill him

Compare that to funny skeleton guy who died with 2 knifes at once after Dodging just 25 times and you can see asgores insanely high HP+ Dodging would destroy sans instantly pretty sure a fully willing to fight asgore could keep up for some time with undyne the undying but still lose

As said by (I think) the ancient tablets or whatever in waterfall, it would require tremendous power to take the soul of a living monster, and the 6 souls were that tremendous power.

it makes sense that Annoying Dog is the unique character in God tier, because he's not only the Toby Fox's encarnation inside the game, it's also because Dog backwards is God.
If you assume that Frisk is stronger in the pacifist run than in the genocide run, the idea that all of the Amalgamations are relative to Sans may actually make sense.
Frisk in the pacifist was able to take atacks from asriel that had infinite defense and infinite atack

Flowey easily has the most combat wisdom out of the monsters, letting him take down any other monster he's not too bored to kill (hence stealth). That being said, despite having an unavoidable attack, yeah flower the flowey is pretty weak
i think you mean flowey the flower, also, yea, but i could actually argue with unavoidable attacks being only applicable to humans because of humans going into the fight screen when fighting monsters
He actually has 6000 defence so he is tanky but his atk is kinda low so still kinda not that strong.
I mean flowey is the only other character who has reset so that explains most of this

Something i think a lot of ppl forget abt sans is that he only does so much damage to the player because of karma, their sins at that point, it bleeds your health at the hp per frame rate then acts as poison damage. Yes he can teleport and summon QUITE the barrage if he really feels like it, but put him against someone like undyne and he wouldnt be doing much
Also, he cant see other timelines, he only makes inferred guesses based on the player's expressions and "studies" which i believe to be gaster's research/machinery

Undyne tells us that she could never even land a hit on him. Asgore is giving you a chance because he wants you to leave.

Technically, if to read one of the signs in waterfall, you may know that Asriel TECHNICALLY posseses 7 human souls (one human soul is about the same power as all of the underground combined)

Taking into consideration he canonically knows how to dodge, is aware of changes to the timeline such as loads, and he has both excelent control over fire and his weapon, I'd say just below the Amalgamates or Undyne the Undying due to lack of DT.

I agree Straight Bowser stealth IS Flowey’s greatest weapon as some of his greatest feats he pulls off thanks to the element of surprise, like killing Asgore (although he was weakened in his boss fight but still impressive!), he ties up all the main characters in vines, he even takes the Human Souls when no one is looking! We can all agree that Flowey is a master of stealth!
GOD tier explanation: Toby can appear in your inventory (literally cease to exist and become a code) he can also ABSORB a magical artifact and poop in your inventory,it can also appear on the screen of THE END at the end of the pacific route, also he codes a game in a game and that room is only unlocked with an almost impossible fight, what kind of maniac is he?!?!

Lesser dog's petting ability is actually his strongest ability. I'd say being able to completely distract the opponent from fighting by being goofy, cute, and a little physics defying is a highly effective defense/stall tactic when it works, and it won't be in the way if it doesn't. Sure, he stops attacking if you pet him enough, but it would take longer to get him there than to just kill him anyways.
But being goofy and cute doesn't work against angry toddlers. Just ask frisk.

People have a theory on how the more a character moves, the harder they are trying to kill you. Yet Papyrus and Toriel are simply PNGs. Papyrus is probably much more powerful than a B tier, but the weakness of believing in everyone really bumps him down.
Well it makes sense. Toriel and Papyrus can’t kill you, unless you force it in Toriel’s case. The regular monsters are trying to kill you, and move quite a bit. Asgore is trying to kill, but is hesitant so moves less. Undyne, normal and Undying, Mettaton, Sans, Omega Flowey and Asriel move a LOT, and are absolutely trying to kill you

Good tier list! The only problem is that you are rating power, or strength of attacks and stuff like that, so their personality flaws shouldn't come into this. If a monster was truly going for the kill, they would have the same power, but they would be much stronger against you

i mean monsters like alphys going for the kill would be severely out of character. in an actual fight, she would either run away, make mettaton fight, or make a bunch of orange lasers that disintegrate attacks (or something like that), running away probably as the most likely one. if she HAD to fight, maybe she would fight back and win it. for example, if it just took place in some random cube without enough space to just run away, she might fight back or might not
in the library its mentioned that a mostsers power and willingness to fight you are pretty much the same
but we never see their true potential ingame so itll just be guesswork

Flower’s soul absorbing ability isn’t even his as he got that when he absorbed the Human Souls as doing so requires incredible power & any monster can abaorb a human soul & Flowey admits to already absorbing the six Human Souls right before he ties up every Character which explains how he was able to do so In the first place!
For those who don't know, the special dogs (Including temmie, which is also a cat) are representations of staff members. The one that you see the most throughout undertale, "Annoying Dog", is the strongest of them all. The annoying dog represents Toby Fox, the main director or creator or whatever he is (Because I forgot.) Annoying dog pulls the strings of almost every undertale character. The special dogs can do anything they want. Temmie can probably do anything, but chooses not to. They hold back more than any character in a fight, and try to be as cute as possible. Temmie also sells one of, if not, the best armour in the game. The only flaw to tem armour is the fact that temmie needs 3 things to be true in order to sell it. 1: Temmie has been payed 1K Gold by the human for college. 2: The human has enough gold (Which starts at 9999, but lowers all the way down to 750, which is still high in undertale.) to pay for tem armour. 3: The human is NOT on the genocide route. Tem armour helps massively in the pacifist route, but makes fights unfair. But you can buy some items, then sell them for a lower price. The tem shop is the only shop in the entire game that you can sell items to. Sorry for rambling for so long.

Did you know the Asgore is canonically THE strongest monster? This means even more powerful than Sans, he's just holding it back in-game.

Sans has the kr effect and knowledge over the time lines so id put them in like the same place low s tiers. Toriel should be just behind asgore since theyre both boss monsters W identical stats but asgore has a weapon
I like to think that the annoying dog is the most power full because it can enter your inventory at any time and also can escape the confines of rooms in the game.

@Unfavred420 wrong. Sans deals 30 dps because he does 1 damage per frame. The game runs at 30 fps. If he was given, for example, 5 atk, he would do 150 dps

I mean, the dog is kind of a reality bender too. Ha can summon endless amounts of Dog residue and Dog salad, steal Papyrus‘s special attack, interrupting a fight, cannot be attacked due to his unlimited speed and also coded a game by accident.

I wouldn't count on Alphys hacking abilities because she was planing all of Mettaton things so I don't know if she was actually hacking Mettaton puzzles (But I guess the other Hotland Puzzles were actually hacked)

They put Mettaton low for his weakness to the puzzles, and looking in a mirror so you can turn off the switch, but it has told you in game that Mettaton was working with Alphys, and was playing along with all her puzzles, therefore there was no reason to put him that low.
Fun fact: Mettaton Neo was originally going to be a full fight, but Toby wanted the player to have enough items for the Sans fight.
fun fact: Basic Mettaton with 255 DEF and minus 10hp for a single hit can get us stuck in an endless death loop because we can't deal damage to Mettaton because the DEF is too high, and why Toby Fox won't let us fight Mettaton NEO because without Alphys's enhanced mobile phone shooting we can't beat Mettaton

* Also I'd argue Papyrus should be higher - he's the only character with enough control of his powers to never kill you (even Toriel can't do that), we never get to see his special attack but his "completely regular attack" being the hardest section of his fight implies he was literally just barely trying at all beforehand, and Undyne herself says he's "pretty freaking strong", his kindness is all that lets him down
* Mad Dummy should absolutely be further up too, she's the only one other than Sans to actually never let you have a turn and be trapped in the fight forever, she just gets interrupted by Napstablook
* Mettaton in his base form should be higher too - he's literally invincible, he can halve your health with one laser, and it's only his EX form with the low battery life, not his base form - even changing the SOUL mode to yellow against his base form does nothing to hurt him

If i remember correctly Flowey states that he might have possibly fought against Sans multiple times offscreen due to "having my fair share of resets" and if it was base Flowey or Omega Flowey is unknown.

He knows how to read body language and expressions extremely well so he deduces what happened.

Gaster should be low as its not confirmed he even has attacks and especially not in his current form. In the select screen rather than him switching it, i see it as the game trying to access corrupt / 'shattered' data and crashing.
Actually Gaster has some hidden stats in the game files and they’re pretty high 666666 hp and 66666 attack plus 66666 defence would make him a very powerful opponent also he was likely to use gaster blasters because they’re called after him his followers also state that he was very intelligent and that he made the core by himself (i think It’s a pretty big achievement since the core produces enough power for the entire underground) also gaster has something to do with deltarune (in entry 17 he’s talking about negative photons which could refer to Dark world and anything associated with It)
We might get more info about Gaster in the next chapters of deltarune so maybe this will show us more of his abilities

When he says 'photon readings negative' it could mean there are negative photons or it could mean whatever he was working on sucked in all light, causing a photon reading to come back negative, false.
I think that gaster has some good attacks in his arsenal (he built the core by himself so that would imply that he’s pretty powerful) he propably can use gaster blasters since they’re named after him , these blasters are pretty good at dealing with enemies (we can see them in sans’s fight) I’m just guessing from what we already know from the both games so this isn’t 100% true

If that was the case, omega flowey fight would be very, very different.

Just because the Gaster blaster was named after Gasyer doesn't mean it was created by Gaster, Sans could be the one who created it and named it after an idol or simply because of the name. I have to disagree with a majority of the placements, if I’m being honest. (Specifically talking about the main characters.)

Dog being god tier makes sense because of it absorbing the artifact and having reality bending powers like teleporting the end screen in true pacifist or entering the players inventory.
I'm pretty sure that Flowey's soul absorbing ability only works if 1, the soul he wants to absorb is not inside a body. Since he absorbed the six human souls. Or 2, if he has at least six souls plus whatever soul he is trying to absorb is not inside a human body. This is because when he absorbs the souls of the all the monsters right before the Asriel boss fight, he has already absorbed the human souls. I know this because he literally says so in his speech right after attacking the squad. Also he probably can't absorb a soul inside a human body even with seven souls since he doesn't absorb Frisks soul, but that could be explained as him toying with you. Hard to say.

I believe KR stands for KARMA. Sans attacks with karma, if he tried fighting you during a pacifist route, he wouldn't be able to do as much damage.

Mettaton NEO shouldn't be so low. Yeah, you curbstomp him, but by that point you are so souped up that every monster below S tier would melt like butter in your wake.
From what I know, I would put him in A-Tier with his normal form. Probably more powerful than his normal form, but S-Tier is for the amalgamates, who are effectively invincible, or for characters who pose a threat to genocide frisk.
He doesn't attack, though.

Well you can technically go higher than infinity itself. For example, third dimensional being has infinite power in his dimension. But there are beings who transcends beyond him, like fourth dimensional being, who also has infinite power. And obviously the fourth dimensional being with infinite power is more powerful than third dimensional being with infinite power, because four is greater than three.
Or another explanation is that there are bigger infinities than other infinities. The natural numbers are known as cardinals like 0, 1 , 2 , 3 and so on. And there is no end to it, because there'd always be one plus that number after it. instead there's a unique name for this amount, which is called Aleph null or ℵ0. I'd downgrade Sans to A and upgrade Asgore to S, Asgore never uses his full strength, and Sans balances his slue of tricks with his minimal stats, he even states that he could slip up, as his fight wouldn't last forever, perhaps had he gotten up on the wrong side of bed when Undertale starts, he would have gone down right after his initial attack! Now isn't that a bone chilling thing to consider...
KR damage is determined by opponent, now there's two ways it could work:
A. Karma is determined by the opponents stats
B. Karma is more like the actual theory of Karma
Either way he'd be borderline useless against a goodie two shoes.
Plus sans only does things on a last minute basis meaning if Frisk had the intent, they could render sans power useless and kill him first, but mustering the intent to hurt the lil goofy bone man would take a lot of built up murderous intent so that's nothing that has to be worried about.
One point you missed on Omega Flowey solidifying his placement is he has one power not even the player beyond the 4th wall has, save states, different from normal saves, he can treat the world as an emulator defying the very rules Toby set in place! Or at least defying Toby's rules from a lore perspective rather than a 4th wall perspective.
One thing your failing to realise is that having the intent to kill someone could theoretically boost kr at least up to the point where sans could fight back nowhere near as well as in genocide but you also have a lot less health at that point this is all just speculation though as we have no clue how sans’s kr actually works for all we know kr could just be the poison damage or it could be poison and removing invincibility frames or I could be how he fights back in the first place we just don’t really know a whole lot about it but what I’m saying is surely having the intent to kill somebody would give a person bad karma right?
@@Mephistophelse Probably, karma how it's listed on google depends on both mental and physical attributes such as doing something or just planning something can both determine your Karma. so imagining horrible deaths of everyone and enjoying it would probably boost the KR damage you would take, but not as much as if you did the genocide route.

Sans can actually remember after resets, becaue he counts perfectly how many times you have died, how could he know how many times he killed you if he didn't preserve his memory after a reset? The fact that the fights doesn't change is because of resources, Undertale is alreayd a massive work from just a person, no wonder he couldn't give more details. (Even if after the 2nd attempt, in the 3rd and in the 4th he attacks you earlier, so that actually suggests that in the lore he changes attacks)

In pacifist run se only says that you isn't surprised with his "pun" or that you turned back before he said anything wich is easy for anyone to see. On genocide he just looks to your face and sees your expretion, every time you die your expression starts to become more anger, and by it he tells how many times you die,he literally says: "You LOOKS LIKE someone who have died [number] times"
He can’t remember resets, just small deaths inside of that timeline. Unless some people say that every death is a new timeline, it should be correct
Sans knows about resets and knows how many times you die through the ability to read as if he doesn't remember what happened before the reset, even Sans can't see or remember Flowey's reset. He doesn't change. attack because for Sans it was our first time fighting Sans and it was like we killed Sans on the first try.

So the subject on why flower can't kill the human at early game,this is for two reasons
1: resets
Flowey is wanted to could kill frisk in early game,BUT,with the player resetting,and monsters coming back alive flowey never gained there souls losing his power, including file manipulation
2:Guilt
Might be wrong,but i think flower still could've killed frisk but when he lowers your hp to 1 when he gets mad in the true pacifist route,he starts to cry saying he doesn't wanna kill you because you're the only one who"understands" him and he keeps fighting you because he doesn't want you to go to the surface being he can't as his curse being his....soul trapped in a golden flower

2:12 he does lenghten the attacks of any other monsters in the fight, so he could theoretically be powerful if he was with bosses. Still bad when individually ranked though.

there are actually stats for gaster in the game files, all stats are just rows of sixes and the lowest number in his stats is 666 so you would be able to tell he has way too much def and hp and he can one shot

I think flowey should go just behind asgore or sans, if there isn't a human around he can reset and reload like frisk meaning if he wanted to he could try an infinite amount of times in order kill someone. in the genocide run, near the end, he mentions killing almost everyone. the only reason he isn't as powerful as frisk (presuming he can save and reload) is his low stats and inability to doge making defeating someone like asgore almost impossible no matter how many times he tries. he also mentions that you should avoid sans finding out who you are and implies he was unable to beat him. and all that's without mentioning soul absorption or the fact he one of the only characters with an undodgeable attack.
I’m late to comment, but he doesn’t have the only undodgeable attack, regardless if asriel dreemurr is the same person, they can also do a basically undodgeable attack in his 2nd form, and sans has an undodgeable attack when you try to spare him at the halfway point of his fight.

The problem with this is that many things are up to speculation, and taking battles as fact is quite inaccurate to power levels.
People say Sans' KR only works when you have a high LV, but it's never actually confirmed what exactly KR *is*.
Many characters aren't fighting with 100% of their power. Asgore doesn't really want to kill you, and therefore isn't properly trying, who knows how powerful he actually is, because he sure as hell ain't king of monsters for nothing!
Toriel was also most likely holding back, as I highly doubt she would be putting in her all against Frisk, she too wasn't the queen for nothing.
Papyrus was also holding back. We never see his special attack, so who knows what that could be. He never intends to kill you, and he obviously has quite a lot of control over his magic to be able to stop without killing you, even Toriel can't do that. Also, if Sans is really oh so powerful, shouldn't Papyrus be as well? They are brothers after all.
Even Sans wasn't giving it his all, but he probably wouldn't be that much more powerful. His capabilities are really overshadowed by his stats, and low stamina. However, we don't know his HP for sure, since it's never shown and the player is very powerful from their LV by that point, even Asgore died in one hit, but he was basically offering up his soul to be murdered anyways so 🤷
What I'm trying to say is, a whole lot of power levels are just speculation. We don't know exactly how powerful each character is, guessing could blow it way out of proportion, and taking their power from battle at face value is inaccurate as well.
Now of course, a decent amount of what I said I do personally headcanon, like Sans' HP and how KR works. But if we wanna be canon here, you gotta accept that we just don't have the necessary information to make an accurate tier list of power levels.

Sans struggle to kill frisk who only has 90 HP, what can he do to a monster like asgore who has 3k500 or undyne the undying who have 23000? also he can dodge, but he can dodge one stab, imagine hundreds of spears or fire magics who could one shot him? He would get tired faster or eventually would've got hit

And if you have no LV there is no poison damage, it’s not 100% confirmed but it makes sense taking all of the routes into consideration

Human souls are supposed to be as strong as every monsters soul in existence combined. Their determination allows them to persist indefinitely after the death of a human. It is unknown why the Player's soul shatters upon death.

this is so wrong. your comment is like: Asriel is not that powerful, he is powerful because of the 6 human souls and entirety souls of monsters.His POWER is doing damage per second (bleed damage). So he deserves his place.

i don't think this guy even played the game lol. some of the raitings make no sense,and one of his reasons for placing alphys so high is that she disabled mettatons traps. anyone who played the game would know what's wrong with that statement. he probably didn't play the game and thats why he doesn't know frisks gender.
