I'm personally a big fan of the visor system from Halo 3 ODST. To me it made understanding ambient light better and the faux thermal outline is awesome. I come from a background of strong pvs-14 usage, your comments about them are spot on.
I loved the ODST visor system. Speaking of thermal outlines, Holosun is making an optic with this technology now. Only a matter of time before they stuff it into a helmet and we see the real deal.
@Falcon On PC it actually exists with nvgs now. The clip on E-COTI and the new ENVG-B has it built in. I've gotten to see live footage through an E-COTI on white phosphor tubes and man it's so cool. We just need digital night vision to evolve. I'm so pumped.
The night vision in the first original non redux Metro 2033 game. Halo 3 ODST had one of my most favorite nvg features in any video game by far, the sound it makes when you turn it on is so nice and just the overall ui for it is crisp imo.
Although I also was scared of darkness as a child, after I started going orienteering at night in forests quite often, even with spooky noises I liked to just turn of the flashlight and embrace the feeling of dark night forest. It's very relaxing for me
Those Psy Suckers scared the hell out of me ! I was looking close at the screen as you were talking about the NVG details and Bam ! I made all kinds of silly sounds haha !
Please don't stop making stalker content, there's so much to do, to be creative, with factions, different gameplay styles, etc. Just love watching you immersed in the zone while chating about random stuff. cheers
The first game to come to my mind that has night vision in it is probably the Delta Force series, specifically Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. The night vision wasn't anything special for the time but the missions that had them were pretty fun.
For me, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. First stealth game I played as a child growing up, I got it for one of my birthdays and I was hooked. I can still remember the iconic sound of turning on your NVGs. I always really loved the atmosphere in that game sneaking around
Game with nigh vision is actually a series: Splinter Cell. When I think of that game, I think of a frontal view of Sam Fisher pulling down his nods with the iconic sound. Not saying the game did night vision the best, but it's etched into my brain! Edit: now you actually mentioned Splinter Cell right after, but it's my answer and I stay with it!
Chaos Theory was, I think, my first game with NVGs. I know it’s not the most realistic implementation, but it got the job done. I do, however, love how a lot of newer games are using a much more realistic implementation for immersion.
Was busy working and got the video running on my other screen, got a nice jump from that jump scare and I wasn't even looking at that moment, the sounds in this game are incredible...
The Mechwarrior 2 series has Image Enhancement, which isn't strictly "night vision", but instead it renders everything that gets picked up as wireframes, letting you see everything around you without fog or visual interference messing things up.
First games that come to mind when thinking of NVGs are Stalker shadow of chernobyl, BF2 Special Forces addon, the Metro series and Insurgency Sandstorm. Have fond memories of all of those games. Edit: Needed to mention Soldier of fortune 2 too.
the lore I remember about snorks: they were ppl who didn't leave after the reactor blew up, instead hid in shelters and wore gasmask constantly. Over time their brain fried and became snorks... that explains why there's a bunny magazine on a snork, it's from the early bunker days
For night vision the first game that comes to mind is Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Simply because of how often I played it with my older brother and the memories. Wasn't impressive night vision by any means as it was just a green circle put over your 3rd person camera. But it felt so cool to be "tactical" clearing terrorists with my brother, man I often tell my brother we have to get together and replay vegas 2, army of 2 and a few other games again. Those were such great times
First you completely forget about the dead G36 guy in the truck cemetery (right before the exo fight). Then you completely miss the dead guy before engaging the Fracture/Izlom trio. Lastly, you left the damn sleeping bag you had a quest for on the headless military guy! Very poor looting discipline... :D In any case, I loved the video. Very fun to watch, listen, and soil my pants to.
The first NVG i can remember of is the old Delta Force: Land Warrior back in the 2000's. The way you could aim and NV changed to scope only in a different poisition on the screen felt amazing back then :)
The game that comes to my mind when i think of night vision and have vivid memories of is Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2, the distinct noise it made when you just put them on and the typical green hue that came with it just brings back memories
when you free nikolai in cod4. that was my first ever experience with nvg. just the power you have over the poor souls as they scramble to find you and yet they just die within seconds. that was amazing
The first game I remember with iconic night vision was splinter cell chaos theory. My dad, brother, and I would play the co op mode on the first xbox, and continued all the way up to blacklist. But chaos theory we would always go back to.
I remember being blown away in 2010 when the Medal of Honor reboot came out. I thought the graphics and night vision was so realistic bc i only ever really knew COD. To me it was so groundbreaking at the time haha i’m pretty sure it was the first modern Medal of Honor based on the war of Afghanistan. This was the first thought that popped in my head when you said “favorite game with night vision” id actually like to go back and see if the game still holds up EDIT: also the OG Ghost Recons come to mind as well. those where the first mil sim type games i ever played as a kid and i think the first game i ever played with NV
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is what I think about when I think of NVGs, like many others...The sound they made when they turned on, and the 3 green dots of the goggles are whats iconic to me
I’m 4 months late to this, but when I think “game with night vision” I WITHOUT A DOUBT, think Splinter Cell. The visual of three green dots in the dark is arguably more iconic to that game than the face of the character himself.
Honestly, STALKER is master of all FPS games. There is no peace, like walking around like that, you get like every feeling playing this game dude. THis game is for Oscar. I remember playing it when I was a kid. And I can still remember this game, awesome. And these graphics, lightnings were out of time. Just beautiful game.
For the games featuring night vision: The oldest one: Return to Castle Wolfenstein - Paderborn Village mission with the "Snooper Rifle" (suppressed and had a built-in NV scope) The favorite: Hard to choose but any Splinter Cell or Metro series games, probably.
8:07 The most iconic is definitely Modern Warfare. Don't remember if the first one already had such a level, but the entire series is absolutely iconic in regards to NVGs, especially the reboot from 2019. But when you said, "older games", I did actually immediately think of Splinter Cell. A reboot of this series would be so incredibly awesome! But whatever they were cooking seems to be mostly dead now.
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down (2003) - night vision mission: Radio Aidid Aah, that brings back memories...first time ever seeing night vision in a game, my squad whispering, taking down one bad guy at a time and moving slowly towards the tower you need to blow up. The best part is when you destroy the generator inside their building and only you can see in the dark...fkin masterpiece
The very first game that pops into mind when I think of NVGs is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007). I never knew much about NVGs until I started watching your channel, so I remember being very confused at the difference in quality in the NVGs in the first three Modern Warfare games.
When I hear "night vision goggles" Splinter Cell obviously pops up but Escape from Tarkov has the best implementation of night vision goggles I have seen. I have probably not played enough titles to give a better answer
The chronicles of Riddick escape from butcher Bay, Riddick doesn't really have "night vision" he has an ability call eye shine which works just like night vision
from someone who's mostly been playing f2p games as a child, the first time I've had nvgs in a game was warthunder :/ most games I've played didn't have night vision as a feature in the game. Stalker gamma was actually the first fps game with nvgs so thanks for making all the stalker videos that got me into it
Syphon Filter for the PS1 was the first time i used those NVGs. The demo was in a magazine along with Spyro, and Crash Bandicoot i believe. Man what a time to be alive.
The way that a dude says about a psysucker AFTER you stumble on it is just gold. Also my first memory of NV goggles comes back to CS 1.6, a first ever game for me.

I've been wanting to get into S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for a while and I'm finally getting a PC soon, when that does happen I think this might wind up at the top of my games to play list.
When I think of night vision goggles it comes to mind my first experience with ARMA 2 DayZ mod. Sitting around NWAF with a nightvision and a DMR. I was a crack shot. Looking forward to the next video !
Buying the stealth suit before the bridge "frontline" level and having to charge your batteries to power the night vision goggles throughout the sequence was crazy to experience the first time around. Top 10 gaming memories is clearing that level meticulously on the first try without a single alert.
Lol i did frontline no killing for the achievement did u?
@@therealamon I have completed all the achievements in that game, and I'm pretty sure I unlocked both the no killing achievement and the true ending on my first ever play-though on ranger.
@@janjastrzebski1897 hell yeah i think on 360 version i got all achievements me and my brother collectively got em all
@@therealamon Dang, a 360 full clear certainly beats my pc one, I don't think I have ever got all achievements on a 360 game because there are always online ones and I didn't have that growing up.
@@janjastrzebski1897 i think all the 360 achievements are around the same as pc version for the non redux version not sure tho i dont have it on steam
It was the Splinter Cell, I don’t really remember which one it was, but it was the mission in Georgia including some sort of diplomat or politic. Not really sure what exactly it was about, but there was NVG and ability to hang over the balcony on your arms. Also when I think about NVG in the games my favorite series came to my mind - it is Metal Gear Solid, especially the last one. And Metro of course.
Ground branch nvgs are amazing. The latest update brought in quad nods n they're the most realistic nvgs I've seen in a game
Holy crap, The intro to the video was insane, Can't wait to see the rest.
Hour long Stalker video, hell yeah! I know it takes a long time to make these videos but I really wish we'd get more Stalker content. I've been hooked on the franchise since 2007 and can't get enough of it. GIVE ME MORE PLEASE. :)
Edit: Invictus run when??
Man, this video was amazing. I hope you make more of these! It really made my day. I love when it actually feels like I'm going on an adventure, it helps with the boredom 😂
The first video game NVG that left a memory for me was Operation Cold Thunder in the 96' Rainbow Six.
Stalking towards the outpost as Domingo Chavez.
Keep doing GAMMA content! You're amazing at it!!!
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Team Sabre was iconic with the PVS-7s
Please don't stop making stalker content, there's so much to do, to be creative, with factions, different gameplay styles, etc.
Just love watching you immersed in the zone while chating about random stuff.
cheers
Dreski you really called my ass out with that “I bet your up at 2 in the morning” I’m dyinggggg
I can’t stop being impressed by the gun sounds in Gamma. That mechsuit fight was great
Shrike did an amazing job on guns sounds !
The first game I remember playing with night vision was one of my early childhood favorites, Syphon Filter.
The slumber airsoft story is the funniest thing I've ever heard, omg thank you for this
The first game to come to my mind that has night vision in it is probably the Delta Force series, specifically Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. The night vision wasn't anything special for the time but the missions that had them were pretty fun.
Is so funny that you mentioned Spllnter Cell, because is literally EXACTLY the games I was thinking. Specifically, the OG SC trilogy.
For me, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. First stealth game I played as a child growing up, I got it for one of my birthdays and I was hooked. I can still remember the iconic sound of turning on your NVGs. I always really loved the atmosphere in that game sneaking around
Iconic night vision goggles game has to be the Splinter Cell series
"Honey, it's time for your monthly OperatorDrewski in the Zone video."
"*Yes, dear.*"
What a nice night walk, listening to Drewski's wisdo OH MY FUCKING GOD MY HEART!!!
What a moment of pure gaming
the lore I remember about snorks: they were ppl who didn't leave after the reactor blew up, instead hid in shelters and wore gasmask constantly.
In any case, I loved the video.
47:45 nah dude remember in your anomaly series when you got jumped by a chimera in the red forest, that's the biggest jumpscare you've had
35:09 dude littraly just walked by a PsydoGigant xD
For me the first night vision is actually the splinter cell. Those three light and that beep, it makes me cry everytime.
This was the first thought that popped in my head when you said “favorite game with night vision” id actually like to go back and see if the game still holds up
EDIT: also the OG Ghost Recons come to mind as well. those where the first mil sim type games i ever played as a kid and i think the first game i ever played with NV
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is what I think about when I think of NVGs, like many others...The sound they made when they turned on, and the 3 green dots of the goggles are whats iconic to me
Love the Stalker Gamma videos!
I’m 4 months late to this, but when I think “game with night vision” I WITHOUT A DOUBT, think Splinter Cell. The visual of three green dots in the dark is arguably more iconic to that game than the face of the character himself.
Syphon Filter, and that really OG Jurassic Park game where you needed the goggles to go into pitch black rooms.
That jump scare barely phased me lol. I have my cat on my chest, fully leaned back... I'm BIG chillin'.
Fear of night is a strong evolutionary mechanism to keep us safe back when we were a few rungs lower on the food chain. Never quite goes away
For the games featuring night vision:
The oldest one: Return to Castle Wolfenstein - Paderborn Village mission with the "Snooper Rifle" (suppressed and had a built-in NV scope)
The favorite: Hard to choose but any Splinter Cell or Metro series games, probably.
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down (2003) - night vision mission: Radio Aidid
Aah, that brings back memories...first time ever seeing night vision in a game, my squad whispering, taking down one bad guy at a time and moving slowly towards the tower you need to blow up. The best part is when you destroy the generator inside their building and only you can see in the dark...fkin masterpiece
OG Cod 4 was my first night vision experience and even though it wasnt the best example, its special to me
Socom for the ps2 had some of my favorite night vision as a kid, I’m not sure if it holds up but I loved those games
My first memory of a game with nightvision was Command and Conquer: Renegade, where one of the sniper rifles had a night-vision scope.
The chronicles of Riddick escape from butcher Bay, Riddick doesn't really have "night vision" he has an ability call eye shine which works just like night vision
from someone who's mostly been playing f2p games as a child, the first time I've had nvgs in a game was warthunder :/
most games I've played didn't have night vision as a feature in the game.
For me (A 'Youngster'), i started gaming with Ghost Recon Wildlands, and the open world stealth gameplay made it soo much cooler at night with NVG's!
The first Splinter Cell had an awesome night vision component with the shooting out of lights.
Listening to these while playing is like having a pro stalker showing you the ropes and telling stories, very comfy vibes. Great vids man!
The way that a dude says about a psysucker AFTER you stumble on it is just gold.
Also my first memory of NV goggles comes back to CS 1.6, a first ever game for me.
You know you've played too much s.t.a.l.k.e.r. when you hear a detector and no matter what you're doing you freeze and look around.
