What really struck me in this cutscene is how Chief slowly moves the body of the dead Marine out of the way. When he moved the jackal body he just tossed it aside roughly like it was nothing. But when it came to the dead marine and when he took the AR from the body he did it carefully and slowly. Little things like that show that Chief really cares for humanity and the people he fights alongside, even if he never says it out loud.

Well, Even just keeping it to the games, Halo 1's mission changed multiple times throughout. It went from escape the covenant to saving the galaxy from a super weapon.
Honestly, the books have really widened my knowledge and rekindled my interest in Halo. I'd highly recommend The Fall Of Reach, The Flood, and First Strike as a minimum to any new and old Halo fan that hasn't read them!

If anything he’s helping 343i with small stuff during development and help guide the team along for post launch and maybe change a minor thing or two in the story direction such as camera movements or such.
The game was content complete when Joe came on board. You can't rewrite a game's whole story in one year. You should probably give that credit to Chris Lee who was the creative director before Joe came on

this nearly brought me to tears because of how beautifully captured this was. everything came full circle. the mission changed on the first halo ring and the chief knew the mission changed the moment he saw her in this encounter

It just seems like another testament to 343's shitty writing. It reads like the sequel trilogy with Star Wars. They had an idea with Halo 4, went completely left with Halo 5 and got serious backlast, and are now trying to make up for things by handwaving parts of the previous installment away.
