What is a good minimum starting distance for a guy 5'9" 140lbs ? I'm managing 8' or 2400 mm but just tore my abs trying to exceed that distance....I train hard for karate most days and thought I'd be indestructible lol
The reason he's landing on his heel during the jump is due to the rotation of his body, this form of jumping is usually seen in precision jumps, where the runner is landing on a ledge or a rail. The reason they land heel-first doing precision jumps is to block their current forward momentum from throwing them off whatever they're landing on when the strike the surface (over-jumping basically). So yes, practice landing on your heels with this jump, it will make learning your precision jumps and runs smoother and ultimately less effort goes into maintaining your balance while just trying to get up on the ledge/rail. Note: I usually aim between my bridge and the heel for precision's, so I can save the shock from going straight up my leg and dampen it with my ankle and knees, it may not be my best practice, but I find it easier to land and not over-throw. Let alone it softens the blow on my knees and hips I find.
For a flat ground broad jump like Kie is demonstrating yes it is normal to land like this! Be aware that he’s not landing on the heel, however landing heel-to-foot helping to transfer the load. Hope that helps!
I follow the technique step by step but I don't land as low as he does, in that squatting position. I land almost standing up or at least not as low with my body. How do I fix this?
This is great thanks dude
