Not sure why you felt the need to address this but I'm sure that if not you, God has a good reason for it. Like it or not, it's right there in our Bibles. Your humility and diplomacy always amaze me when you deal with touchy subjects like this. It is another gift that you have that you probably haven't thought that much about. Thank you.

His final commentary on this video, at the 10:10 minute mark, might answer the first sentence of your comment, as to why he (David Guzik) recorded this video:
out of his (Pr. Guzik’s) fear of the Lord, for his hearers and subsequent users of his materials, whether he agrees or not: he intends his teachings be a blessing the to the body of Christ at large, but if a woman decides she is going to use, it is at her own decision, with the aid of the Holy Spirit.
A Pastor’s wife, richly blessed by this wonderful teaching, and in prayer for pastor Guzik and his wonderful wife, neither of which I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, but hope to meet in eternity 🥰🙏🏼

This was not a scripture-based explanation. Who was the first to preach the gospel, i.e., Jesus' Resurrection? A woman! The men (disciples) didn't believe. If Jesus could reveal Himself to a woman and have her to go and tell others, why can't accept the fact that the Bible does not say woman cannot lead a church. Saying women preachers does not align with God's order is like saying donkeys cannot talk.

    • @Halloweendm

@@elstonsteele1266 Going to tell the disciples that Christ is alive, that His body wasn’t in the tomb anymore is NOT preaching. It was relaying a message and nothing more. Christ had females that followed and supported His ministry but He appointed no female disciples and there were no female apostles.
Why can’t YOU accept the fact that the Bible does forbid female leadership, pastoring, preaching, etc.,. Letters to Timothy are quite explicit about this, and these are confirmed also in Paul’s letter to Titus. Elders, pastors, etc., are male only callings because the requirements included being the HUSBAND of one WIFE! Thats just the requirements. When you get into the actual job, women are not allowed because they are commanded to be SILENT! Too, they are forbidden from teaching, forbidden from exercising authority over men-something that would have to happen to preach (and teach)!
Get the feminism out of your eyes and take a second look at the Bible and you may actually see the truth!

David, I have so much respect for you. Your biblical commentary is a favorite of mine.
This was so very well done, I felt like I was talking to a fatherly figure about a sensitive issue. Thank you for this video.
I am preparing to enter pastoral ministry, but it is as you said- we (both you and I) just want to be faithful to Him and it is He alone whom we will each answer to. This is a calling that I have ignored for years because of this issue, but I cannot deny that it is the direction that I believe He is taking me, and I just want to be faithful to Him, that is truly all that I want. He has made me for a Shepherdess calling, and how He uses it is up to Him. I And I know that I know, that He is faithful to lead us into all truth, with grace and over time, if we follow Him as our Shepherd. I trust Him.
Thank you for being faithful, Brother in Christ. This ministered to me. May God bless you.

What comes to mind when you talked today was Deborah, even though she was a judge, when the king asked her to go to battle with him, she told him, " there will be no glory in it for you that a woman won the battle " as we know God ultimately won that, but the fact that the weaker vessel was leader....
And I also think of the proverbs 31 woman, in her rightful place, not the misconception of her being so self sufficient and lack of submission...

I have lived through an episcopal charismatic denomination that allowed women to lead churches, and more. It meant wives had equal status ( and more) as they pastor together. The rules changed in the Vineyard because of culture as opposed to anything scripture was saying, or because of of exceptions such as the persecuted churches. I think after thirty years pastoring and seeing in actuality how this has worked out - you are absolutely right - it’s brought a great deal of harm, both to the women and those under them. It is as you say harmful to the Body of Christ. I have seen the hard way that scripture is true and I think you’ve stated the case really well for what scripture is saying in a loving and compassionate way.

    I often hear:
It was cultural at the time of Paul.
It is cultural, but the only thing cultural about it, is the culture of the world creeping into the body.
I often reply to those who take this viewpoint:
If it was cultural, why then is Paul quoting and making reference to the deception in the garden.
Anything given in the garden is foundational not cultural.
Are we not seeing an outright assault on this in our culture (society) right now?
And God created them Male & Female

Based on the Bible I don’t believe women should be in leadership positions in the church. My husband and I left a church that is full of female elders and pastors. I have had my own not so good experience with some of them but having come to a clearer understanding of God’s Word for myself I no longer believe it’s biblical.

I am totally for women alliance but this has always been one area where I objected to women being pastors over a congregation inclusive of women and men. My reason for this is because it is scriptural and you are right in pin pointing "obedience" Mr. Guzik. I love the fact that you said, in instances where it is not normative, women pastors should teach and train men who have the characteristics of being a spirit led pastor. Was expecting a bit more scripture refrences to substantiate your topic 😊. Thanks for sharing.

Your gift for explaining not only the Word but why it matters and how it was intended to be applied, is clearly God-given. I appreciate that you recognize and applaud the rare times it is appropriate for women to take that role, but also underscore the limited scope of that part of her teaching role. I hope that any woman in this position will accept your words and seek not only a wise earthly counsel but God's Counsel as well. We as Christians have for way too long agreed to too many leniencies in the Word, thus putting OUR stamp of approval on things DISAPPROVED by God our Creator and Father.

Hi Pastor David. I just watched this because I often gravitate to your commentary after I have spent hours in the Scriptures first. The Spirit gives us unity on so many topics in Scripture and I value that. Your video and responses here are so grace-filled. You may not reply and I understand. I appreciate the opportunity to leave a question here.
When culture has shifted and women are no longer possession and can be educated like men, and work in outside the home,it seems to me that we have to take into account a cultural shift. Otherwise, we might be taking positions from a fallen state. We don’t do certain things the Bible tells the readers of their day to do because the culture has shifted. Women aren’t silent in church. That’s broken all the time. Women aren’t disobedient to God by taking a job or going to school. Yet, that means they won’t be in the home all the time. Slaves aren’t prevalent in our culture. We went beyond slavery. Isn’t there room to interpret the Scripture based on where the culture was at the time? The worship or elevation of women in Ephesus comes to mind. I can understand the concern in that day. And, it was bad. Rather than a few verses of restriction for all time, maybe they were contextually important at the time.
Joel 2 comes mind. I wonder if the issue is the outpouring of the Spirit and calling of God more than some retained cultural norm. I’m not talking about sin either. Sun iThoughts?

Hi Mike, thanks for writing in.
One of the very important considerations on this passage is found 1 Timothy 2:12-14.
Paul wrote... 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.
I understand that people can have a concern about this prohibition being very connected to the culture of Ephesus, of those times. However, Paul here refers back to Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, and uses them as an example of God's "chain of command". He presents the case that the prohibits of women teaching man and having authority over them was never God's intention, and that God's intention goes back to Genesis chapter 1.
Based on that, I don't believe that an argument can be made that this prohibition was made for cultural reasons Thanks for writing in, and I hope that this helps. Check the link for more thoughts.

I agree with you Pastor David because it is written in scriptures that women should not preach or teach especially in the pulpit. There's so many ways in which a woman can spread the word of God other than being a pastor... For instance oh, quite often while I was visiting people in the hospital I encountered lovely Christian women who would visit patients and consoled them with the word of God and I took notice to how they responded to women doing this type of ministry as opposed to men and I honestly believe that both women and men respond much better to the sound of a woman's voice as they say the woman's touch, however women can touch people with their words or should I say with the word especially sick people. Yes I do believe they are better at that than men, but preaching from the pulpit as a pastor... in Timothy it is clearly stated that they should not, unless in a dire case where there is no man available to be a pastor of a church then I would think that God would not want the clergy to be without a shepherd or in that case a shepherdess! Thank you Pastor David... Very interesting subject and you handled it beautifully!

@@ColinDH12345 you tell me where in the Scriptures it says that homosexuals should be stoned... probably in the Old Testament that might have been written but we don't live under the Old Testament oh, we go under the New Testament because we follow Christ and Jesus prevented the crowds from stoning the woman who was caught in adultery but he also told her to sin no more so he obviously stated that adultery was a sin that wasn't that punishable by stoning because if Jesus says it's a sin then it is a sin which can be forgiven as long as you repent of it! I dunno as everyone knows that God burnt down to cities of homosexuals and that was after he gave him many opportunities to stop doing but he considers to be an abomination. Do I believe that homosexuals should be stoned? I believe that God's will should be done and he is made it very clear that any kind of sin she'd be repented of otherwise you might not get stoned in this day and age but you might lose your inheritance to heaven!! I am not a judge but I do believe God's word in the scripture

I am a missionary and often teach at women's meetings and Bible studies. I have a question, "Why are the women so actively attending the meetings, while men's meetings are so few in number? Where are those warriors and leaders?" I do sometimes teach in church, but often feel like being God's plan "B". I don't think God will make me accountable for teaching in church, or will He? If God could speak through a donkey, He can sometimes use a woman. I am not a pastor (God forbid!), but I don't want to watch people going to hell and keep silent, only because I am a woman.. And I do use and enjoy your Bible commentaries, Pastor.

    This began so well. However,
Scripture doesn’t say “women aren’t permitted to preach/teach/have authority over a man unless…”
There is never a need for women to step into the gap to pastor a mixed congregation/church because “there are no qualified men”. If there lay members who are men in the congregation, there are qualified men available to step up and lead. If the church is healthy, there should always be the business of disciplining and training up. If the pastor and every other male leader is persecuted unto death, then the men among the lay members should be able to step up. If ALL of the men in a given church are persecuted unto death, then SURE…a woman could conceivably “pastor” at that point because the church would only be made up of women. There would be no men to have authority over. But such a scenario won’t likely occur and has not in recorded Church history. ❤

I watched this video weeks ago and have thought about your comments. As a former pastor’s wife I had been in the inner circle for years. I was a missionary in Japan. A church in the mountains was pastored by two women as they said they had no men willing to lead. I wondered where is the companion sermon for men telling them to step up to the plate in the spiritual realm? There is a deficit of solid spiritual guys that will step into the ministry. Women by nature want to do what is needed. We will fill the void. If guys would make the sacrifice and fill the shoes that they were meant to fill, there would be less women pastors. I don’t understand male pastors with a Baptist background need to rebuke women on this issue. Where is your rebuke video to men?

      Hi Lezlie, thanks for writing.
The video/idea about women in leadership was/is controversial because it isn't the norm in the Bible.
In response to your question (which is good), the Bible almost assumes that people would understand the role of men in leadership, and that they should be leading. It is true that in many instances and in many cultures, the men are typically spiritually lazy and the women are the ones getting things done.
The link below links to 1 Timothy 3, where the teaching clearly points out the qualifications and expectations of church leaders, and it is obvious that it speaks to men and not women. So, the "companion sermons" perhaps aren't specifically needed since it is an oft repeated theme that men should be leading within the church. But you concern and observation certainly is valid. Thanks for writing.

      1 Timothy 2:1 says...
12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man.
The issue at hand seems to be the idea of the role of oversight, which includes teaching and having authority. The idea is that it's the reversal of roles within the church. God gave men the position of leadership, which sadly, is often neglected or avoided.

Look up Apostle Junia, Deaconess Phoebe, Aquilla and Priscilla, Tabitha, Deborah, Ester, and so on. The Original Greek expounds on this Authentein refers to not abusing authority. The word helpmeet in our kjv is actually the word Ezer Kenegdo in the original language. It is defined as helper, rescuer, savior, warrior. It is used only in conjunction with woman and God. Woman was necessary to be able to bring a unblemished savior, Jesus, born without sin, of the woman's seed. Salvation was brought into the world because the woman cannot pass her sin to her offspring. The patriarchal church does not want women to know this. Eve did usurp authority over Adam when she brought up the fact that the serpent was in the garden. Adam did not tell God because he was supposed to protect the garden and Eve but did neither. This is why women should remain silent in church. So to not make the man look bad again, she has been gagged.

There's men marrying men and women marrying women because of us women's feelings allowing them to do so when our God is against it. Right on, their are a lot more topics like this which go untouched by churches because they desperately want to be guided by the worlds culture. Like familys who have homeless relatives. Do families have the right to tell a relative to go work, when the relative as issues that prevent them from getting work? If God provides for the next day then whats the harm in housing a relative? Whats the harm in providing for your family member if it cost you zero dollars out of pocket? There is a lot of tough questions that I like to ask pastors except none of them, when I use biblical theology word for word, accept what im saying as fact. Its always passed over or the question is ignored. Why do you think that is? Because if God is truth and God is Love and I read verbatim the words of the Lord through the Bible, why is it being denied or passed over? I think its because I've exposed the evil of their hearts and they don't want to face it. I mean rightfully so, for so long I've denied a lot of my sins and buried them deep. And now I'm in the worst place in my entire life. Due in part to peoples judgment of my sins, to a large degree. But either way my new direction is in christ and if I cant point out deep intellectual questions to seek guidance then what is the purpose of fellowship? What is the purpose of a pastor? Proverbs 21: 2 states every man is right in his own eyes. So its thoughtful of me to ask deep insightful questions about theology if I want to learn and discern truth not just in word but through the holy spirit. Am I being misguided by my own selfishness or is what im reading and interpretation of the bible correct. I just pray their are more videos out there of people addressing some tough issues that rub up against culture and bible.

He's beimg nice. But it's pretty plain to me. Any woman who acts as a pastor is ignorant or rebellious of Scripture. Therefore, she is misleading others. Anyone who listens to her is already walking in error. Tell it like it is. That's one thing i agree with Baucham about. God's order is clear. We have no right to create our own excuses for ignoring Scripture.

The church should desire to continue along God's path, following His word. If God wants that church to continue, He will provide a shepherd for those people. Jesus said, "I will build my church". We can take great comfort in believing that Jesus will build His church according to His design.

Though I do believe the headship of men. And of course our senior pastor is a man.

    • @DavidGuzikEnduringWord
      @DavidGuzikEnduringWord  2 года назад +1

A woman pastoring youth is different than a woman pastoring men. The Bible doesn't seem to prohibit that. I would say that if a young man is still living under the authority of his parents, then he can be taught and directed by a woman. When that youth is out on his own, that may signal him becoming a "man". Hope this helps.

I am a female Bible teacher, and I love the heart of this message so much. I've shared it with love to people who know me as a teacher. I found it after using your commentary, guessing your position on women in ministry by your association with Calvary Chapel, and wondering how you would feel about me using your commentary. I was going to email your ministry but looked to see if you'd already prepared a video on the topic. You couldn't have made a kinder, more honest message on your position. I so appreciate your heart in sharing your beliefs and your commentary. I look forward to being stuck with you in eternity 🤗 Thank you. Be blessed.

I do not believe that women should be pastors in any church. There should be no female pastors, bishops, elders, etc. Where did all of this come from anyway. Men have no business being under the subjection of a woman in church. This is just my opinion.

Since you like to put so much emphasis on FIRST ORDER. The first order in the very beginning of creation, the absolute perfect state of humanity was male and female, reigning together, side by side, as equals. If Christian women can endure centuries of abuse at the hands of men that twist the scriptures on submission to fit their need for power and control and domination, then I think they can withstand criticism as women pastors. God gave mankind instructions to have dominion and subdue the earth together. We need to stop looking at the bible through Western eyes. This is our great tragedy. Just as you have your complementarian opinions, so do egalitarians, equally as committed to the truth as you are. The bible is filled with examples of women working with Paul in the ministry of the gospel alongside men in a Greco-Roman world where rule was the domain of the Roman man. It should not surprise us that there were few women in that world that had the education or the opportunity to serve in any kind of leadership capacity in the church, and yet there was one that was in prison for it by the name of Junia, there was one that taught men, Priscilla along with her husband Aquilla, one who led a church in her own home, Lydia...the list goes on and on (Romans 16). We need more Jesus in the church and less Aristotle.

This is true 1Timothy 2:11 a woman should learn in quietly and full submission I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man she must be silent for Adam was formed first then Eve Adam was not the one who deceived it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner but women will be saved through childbearing if they continue in faith love and Holiness and prosperity 1Corinthians 14:33,38 for God is not a god of disorder but of piece as in all the congregation of the Saints women should remain silent in the churches they are not allowed to speak but must be in submission as the law say. But woman can do women Bible class

Thank you. There's a reason for it. Satan was able to get to Adam, through Eve. See what is happening with 'feminism' today. It is an evil. It's not that we women can't serve the Lord. We can and serve Him according to His will and not ours. God made priests of men for His reason and will. Not ours. But it's always to our good. Serve God and God only.
