I used to have anxiety all the time and got prescribed oxazepam. What a feeling when all my fears and insecurities just melted away after taking one pill. Got addicted quick and kept telling everyone, especially myself, that I couldn't live a 'normal' life without them. I couldn't have been more wrong however.
There is a very good reason benzos are supposed to be used to short terms only.
I used to throw a tantrum when my doctor stopped prescribing benzo after the use continued and doses just grew, now I am only happy they we're taken away.
You're really playing with your life if you start eating them continuously to 'make it through' whatever you fear at that time. It's like a boomerang, pop that pill to take the anxiety away and it will come back every time, the longer you use the more severe the withdrawal gets.
You need to learn WHY you get those anxieties and fears in the first place and start working on yourself. Don't suppress those feelings 'cause they WILL come back to you!

There have been a few cases of fentanyl being mixed with it but its rare and its stupid to do that from a dealers point of view because of the massive increased risk of death.

Man I used to be on xans/benzos heavy for 7 years and quit them about 2 years ago now. My short-term memory was so bad that I couldn't remember anything anyone told me, even something as simple as someone's first name I'd forget in 10 seconds. Got clean off everything a year and a half ago and I gotta say, I haven't been happier. Drugs are fun until you feel like you can't wake up without them.

One thing that was not mentioned here is the horrific withdrawal symptoms of benzodiazepines. Tolerance builds up and users can end up taking in excess of 100 "bars" a day. If users stop suddenly, the chance of death from withdrawal is apparently greater than heroin.

Were you guys on fake ones off the street? The only time I’ve blacked out on Xanax was from fake green bars they probably had an antipsychotic or something. The only people I’ve ever heard of blacking out were on pressed ones.

The BBC clearly doesn't understand anything about drug addiction as a mental health problem, or the social complexities and many mixed factors behind the causes of drug addiction. Not feeling much sympathy from them, that guy was literally just asking them why they still take xanax knowing its risks. Anybody with any humanity understands that nobody wakes up one day and decides to become dependent on substances. Life is hard for everyone, drugs has always been and will always be a part of society. It should be treated with tolerance and compassion rather than fear and punishment. The BBC has a clear agenda about drugs.

Like they don't realize that somebody abusing Xanax or any other benzodiazepine could be struggling from a panic disorder and that if they were prescribed benzodiazepines properly they could get through life a lot easier but they get denied their medications so they go to the street, I always see this angle and things like somebody that abuses opiates is myself, I am recovered but at the same time I have chronic pain I couldn't even explain to you in human terminology, on top of that my ADHD is severe but I never turned to uppers, because they don't do anything really they do help me a lot though with focus and my dopamine balance but they don't get me high, however I can't get a script for anything anymore because of my past which has no criminal record or anything no overdosing nothing I used to microdose my drug, but still psychiatrists just throw ssris and antipsychotics that people like it's no one's business but no more benzos, however all of these other people have scripts and other people were getting them in the 90s and early 2000s like they didn't need them but they were given them so now the people that truly need them can never get them it's just a screwed-up world ass backwards😢

These are not xanax related deaths. All benzodiazapenes have very high LD50's. These deaths are a direct result of a lack of harm reduction information.
It's mostly poly drug use. It's people taking Xanax + heroin, or Xanax + methadone or Xanax + alcohol or fentynal. Almost none of the fatalities from benzodiazapines are a direct result of the benzos there's usually always another substance that they're taking

This drug on prescription is terrible. People become addicted very quickly and then trying to get off is terrible. Withdrawal symptoms are a nightmare. Avoid benzos at all costs. Be they legal or illegal.

Well they are raising their dosages a milligram at a time because they're tolerance gets greater but all they have to really do is stay at that same dose for about a week after it stops working as good and your tolerance will drop back down to that dose without any inter dose withdrawal symptoms foot doctors don't tell people that they just tell them to go up in the dose and that's where the problem really starts when you get to let's say 4 mg of Alprazolam or 5 when you started at 0.5, they probably could have went to 1 mg and just stayed there and if it stops working just keep taking that 1 mg it will drop down again and you will start to feel it normally, my advice is to go to 0.5 if a 1 mg stops working within a week you will start to feel that 0.5 or even less than a week sometimes depending on your metabolism I've done it multiple times that's the only reason I know

will the alcohol part yeah that actually is pretty devastating that's something that you can throw in with the mix of dangerous substances but cigarettes have carcinogens which can cause mutations of cancer in the body which Alprazolam or any other benzos are usually not linked to so really if you look at the death rate cancers developed from smoking actually do overlap some drug overdoses of different classes

It's super hard, because I have horrible anxiety that feels like heart attaxks, but I'll live. That shit stole my life. However I wouldn't of met my boyfriend who got me sober, and gave me the will to get help if it wasn't for xanax. I've lost so many friends to this shit. My friend animal died in my arms. He mixed it with heroin.. I also got them offline.. they're SO EASY TO GET..

What I am not clear about from this report is whether Xanax on its own can be fatal or not, or only the counterfit versions laced with fentanyl. Xanax, when taken properly, is a great drug to have.
It's basically impossible to die from ingesting too much Xanax but abusing it in high doses for a long time regularly can kill you with the withdrawals.

You can't overdose on legit xans, but you could still die from it eg blacking out and falling down the stairs, sleepwalking etc. The withdrawals can kill you. Even if it doesn't kill you, if you're addicted you may as well be dead, it's like living life on zombie mode not feeling anything and not getting anything done

Taking drugs is a symptom of numbing the pain usually associated with a dysfunctional childhood created by bad parents and their parents. People should not have children if they do not have the resources to look after them properly and offer them the best support structure even if the marriage breaks up. I was the victim of such a childhood, alcoholic, poor parents, sexual abuse by a family friend, lack of good role models, I ended up taking crystal meth to numb the pain and xanax to fall asleep at night. Luckily I broke free of my addiction, sorted out my life, worked hard, got my degree and through all of this my parents still feel they have no blame, 2 of my sisters experienced exactly the same thing.

I used to live out in Las Vegas and I would go to the methadone clinic. Outside those clinics there is people selling Xanax and addicted to Xanax like crazy. The withdrawals you get can be deadly. I know a lot of people that have gone through it and they hallucinate. I'm so glad I never got addicted to it, I've used it so many times but I told myself never to take it on a daily basis.... I used to be addicted to heroin and I would love to take Xanax with it. It increases the high but it becomes extremely dangerous due to the fact that it can stop your breathing
I’ve had my issues with alprazolam. Personally I choose to understand and learn the information about any drug iam going to use. Atm I enjoy keeping a active prescription for it leaving the door cracked as a option strangely makes that Angst of temptation to dissolve. That’s just my experience. Use drugs properly and your life can be beyond your wildest dreams.

I've never taken Xanax but I was prescribed Klonopin for 11 months which is basically the same thing. Klonopin, Xanax, Ativan and Valium are all benzos. My tolerance grew so fast and as the months rolled on I kept having to up my dose to achieve the same effects. My anxiety was horrid, I was having problems sleeping, I wasn't eating because my stomach was so jacked. I got off the pills in May and I haven't felt better ❤️

The issue is is that a lot of these addicts are self-medicating what doctors could be simply helping them with the medication, they just see it as though they want to get high and have fun that's not always the case, they want to feel normal and if they are self-medicating certain symptoms that they tell these people like oh I have chronic pain or oh I have ADHD I believe or I have Panic disorder, doctors immediately turn their head at you now and leave you to suffer so that's the new world we live in and it ain't getting better😢
Ive never seen another drug that has as many functioning drug addicts as xanax does. So many people are completly addicted to this and you would have no idea they even use drugs at all. Its a drug that u can be nearly blacked out from, and in many instances seem completly sober to the people around you. Theres not many drugs like that. Its a sad addiction.

He did abused drugs like marijuana cocaine psilocybin mushrooms but he was using anxiety medication and when he ran out of it on tour went to the streets and then got a bad batch he was in the process of coming down off of a lot of drugs too. Where i live the drugs dealers sell half a gram of herion and A 2.5mg Xanax for a £15 (they're probably fake xanax which are made from a benzo thats untested on humans but i fogot its name) and theres a lot going over and some make others havent. I got clean from heroin in 1999 and id never heard of xanax when i was using. There was valium but i never personally liked it i didnt like the fact you just lose days of your life. I know people who have woke up in the cells and didnt have a clue why they were there because they were smashed on valium.

This stuff is near impossible to come off without extreme torture like symptoms for months and sometimes years. I suffered beyond description coming off them for 1 year straight, can't believe I survived it. Clean and sober now and never looking bac.. I'll never touch another Xanax again or another benzo of any kind again, it's not worth it. I feel really sorry for these kids were saying on this video because they will probably die. If they don't die from taking it they'll probably die from coming off at the levels are taking it. They need to be tapered off slowly for years to effectively get off the stuff without torture.
Congratulations man. I know too well what you went through. You'll be able to go tru anything if you survived that. I went from 5mg a day to 1mg after running out of them and getting a glimpse of the hell that awaits me but I think I was compensating with lyrica cos when I lowered the Lyrica I got just mild withdrawals which I could only bear for a few days. It'll be a while before I get down to 1mg which would be good progress as far as I'm concerned. The thing that frightens me is how time almost stops. An hour feels like eight hours. Would be great for get a week's work done in a day but I don't feel like leaving the house
@@TheSubpremeState definitely take your time when tapering. I hope you have a supportive specialist who is with you on tapering until your done, nothing more important than that. I had no desire to go cold turkey, I was forced to and it fucked my entire world for about a year.

Its very common in methadone clinics seance they first started you mix anything with its super deadly because of its life span I'd have to sit in the ER for 48-72 hours because as soon as narcan wears off I'd go out agian because methadone was still going strong

Benzodiazapenes them selves are very addicting, but actually quite hard to OD on. The deaths come from mixing with other substances, blacking out and doing stupid things etc ..
That's why the benzos have replaced barbiturates essentially. Barbs are very easy to OD on, benzos damn near impossible unless mixed with alcohol or opioids. They're given for stimulant psychosis or bad psychedelic trips as well, I remember when I had my 6.5 gram mushroom trip freakout they gave me IV Valium and I instantly felt waaaaay better, maybe a slight Afterglow but that was it. Benzos are a necessary evil in my opinion. To this day I'll never consume an upper or a psychedelic unless I have an emergency stash of benzos and a few drinks, my anxiety is way too bad fuck that.

I’m prescribed a benzodiazepine (I get prescribed temazepam for insomnia caused by chronic pain) and I only use them when I’m at the end of my tether as I don’t want to be dependent on benzodiazepines.

Facts suicides are the real problem. Think about that if you would have given for example xanax to someone who did a suicide he could still be alive, because it rises confidence for example so why the fuk are these people driving down these drugs that could be important in decreasing suicides.
The guy asking ‘why don’t you just quit’ doesn’t understand the absolute hell withdrawal is. And it can last up to a year so you feel like it will never end and it can also kill you. I’ve experienced seizures from it myself. And even once it does end; you feel shittier than you did when you decided to take Xanax in the first place because all the issues you’ve repressed have just built up even more and not been dealt with. At least with most other drugs you go through a few months of withdrawals and then at least feel better. Theirs no such reward system with Xanax. I think we need a treatment for people recovering from Xanax that is different from other programs.
Rather than 'just quit', don't take the bloody rubbish in the first place.

So sad. The first time taking any benzo when your anxiety is severe it is the most calming feeling. Make anxiety dissapear but unfortunately these drugs lose its effects and need more for the same calming effects. I just wish there were a safe benzo where it doesn’t cause you to lose the calming effects. I find if i take more valium then prescribed it makes me physically sick so im one of the lucky ones who cant abuse it as it wont hot me just will come right back up and cause more anxiety
try come off them mate. i have had nightmares with benzos. they make you black out constantly and make crazy decisions. also the withdrawal can really screw your brain up if something happens and you can no longer get them. i got so bad withdrawaing i was begging my dr to give me valium after telling them i was taking xans illegaly and they wouldnt. i have seizures and couldnt leave my house for 2 weeks from the paranoia the withdrawal causded
