The Oscars is a bunch of rich people coming together to pat each other on the back. The sad thing is, even if everyone stopped watching it would still exist.

    • @konradgoscicki6649

No, it would not. Oscar award would lose it's prestige. Nobody would care about recieving a statuette, when noone is around to see it. Oscars would also lose it's money for lack of interest. Who would sponsor it, if not the viewers? "Rich people"? Why would they give their own money, to participate in a competition, which nobody cares about?
Don't get me wrong. In SOME way Oscars would probably still happen. But they would take a form of more intimate gatherings, and would probably completly die-out with time. Those people are not idiots. Academy Awards happen to give people a chance for recognition (or to sustain it). No recognition, no point.

Well millionaire means different things someone worth 3.5 million could just have a decent retirement plan and an average home price in LA. If I wanted a retirement plan that would leave me with 75,000 per year that is 2.25 million plus a 3 bedroom home in LA is 1,000,000+ at the least. That net worth is probably the average net worth for people like the cinematographer or costume designers who get frequent nominations. Which even that is worlds away from the net worth of a majority of the directors and actors/actresses in the room. I am begging Americans to please better understand economics and how the term millionaire is becoming even more useless bc it ranges from decent life stability to will smith wealth. Find a better term just say 1%.

Besides that most westerns from any decade have white villains anyway, westerns just about cowboys fighting Indians are pretty rare.

I don't think the Oscar's is a platform for activism. It should be about the magic of movies. Just because you agree with Brando's position doesn't mean he was right to do it. Its opened the flood gates for political nonsense with a lot of woke activism we all hate.

Will Smith slapping a host of Chris Rock's caliber on stage and then getting his award and giving a speech amidst a standing ovation is BY LIGHTYEARS the worst Oscar moment.

We don’t know what was was going to do. Apparently there’s not any video of him being restrained. If this is accurate he was probably going to force her off the stage. John Wayne, unlike Marlon Brando, has never been accused of hitting women. That’s not a defense but it does provide some context to the situation.
