Hi guys, some friendly feedback: - the “damage” icon in expertise trees aren’t “strike”s, it’s an automatic damage put straight into the damage pool - Shoves/pushes/pulls are like pushes and throws in MCP, which mean they are either “toward” or “away” from the shoving/pushing character, and require sliding the base of the target character until the move is completed or the character contacts another object, so Ahsoka probably couldn’t be pushed when the Magnaguard attacked her initially. Later, whilst Rex definitely could be pulled by Jango, the angle at which he was pulled would’ve put him straight into the wall. - Combat trees are directed specifically at a character, not at a unit, so Ahsoka couldn’t shove both the Magnaguard off of the gantry for example - Applying the same condition multiple times to a target unit do matter - the target would instead take a damage every time they would apply a condition they already have - Remember that the expertise trees are calculated in a specific order - first attacker, then defender. - Characters can move over terrain that’s the same or lower elevation than them. So for example, after the clones were wounded and Ahsoka triggered her “Fierce Protector” ability, she wouldn’t need to move around the terrain on the gantry unless it is at a higher elevation (ie vertically taller than a range 2 template) - The struggle cube needs to overlap a momentum cube in order finish a struggle, not an adjacent cube - Characters are engaged, not units - there were a few instances where you only made dash moves with both Magnaguard, where only one was engaged. - Characters/units aren’t removed until they’ve made a final activation, so once you wounded the 501st a second time the still get to active, do actions, score objectives etc as normal, and only then are they removed. Keep up the good work!
On the matter of the combat trees, we definitely we apply the difference between damage results and strikes. In haste it might not always have the correct word used (especially early on, as we get used to terminology). Same deal with expertise. Just because we would announce what we have, we still applied it attacker first, but for expediency and to avoid dead air, we would simply share our results. We definitely slide the shoves along the tool (we double check those all the time) same with Jango's pull to make sure the angle of the tool allowed the direction he was pulled. The camera can cause weird perspective issues from time to time with those. As for the character/unit shoves, a couple people have corrected us on that one (same with the struggle tracker) and that one came down to our misunderstanding, and inability to find, at the time, the character/unit distinction with combat. Both instances, at least, were applied incorrectly and equitably, and likely would not have had too much of impact when we discussed the errors. Either way, I really appreciate the comment! It helps reinforce the rules and mechanics, which always great with a new game. Going to keep trying to improve the content as s long as I am filming it
Yeah, I love seeing the synergies, though it does make me a.little concerned for overall list building, as it feels like there a lot more dead combos, as a result. I hope it is a concern that is solved as we see.more squads release
A downside of the condition tokens being on the card, and not on the board by the characters (like MCP), is that sometimes we have lost track of conditions. Probably going to go back to placing them on the board for more accurate board state, as it has happen a couple too.many times already
Woo, more Shatterpoint content! One thing I noticed, when Dooku defends around 26:44 his expertise downgrades the crit to a fail, not a regular hit. Edit: lmao, should’ve been patient. You got it!
Yeah, I caught that after a bit as well..made me go from feeling down in him, to kind of liking it. Appreciate you taking the moment to comment, though!
These bat-reps are so good! I like that I'm able to get a quick primer on this awesome game as well as I try and learn along with you fine folks. Once again, your approach to filming the games and the appearance of your mats, minis and terrain are leaps and bounds above any other war gaming vids out there. Love it! Keep up the great work! As an aside, is there a $CDN option for supporting the patreon? You always say "a dollar a month" but whenever I check it seems to be like $2.14 or something?? Haha maybe I can e-transfer you $20 cash!
I feel bad about making another correction, but i dont think that Ahsoka could have pushed both magna guards at around the 18 min mark. When you attack, i think that you are targeting a character (single model) not the unit. I could be wrong though.
At the time, we could not locate a definitive answer to that either, so we made a snap decision on it. There are a few weird interactions we came across when it deals with multi character units, so it is likely some of our interpretations and decisions are the time are incorrect
@@AegisbrandStudios Yeah, the wording for this game leaves something to be desired. Heads up as well, it looks like you guys are ending struggles too early. The struggle token needs to overlap the momentum tokens. So if you only have the free momentum at the start of the struggle than you would need to hit the 8 spot on the track to win. I don't know that it would have changed the outcome but that last struggle was pretty close so you never know.
@@AegisbrandStudios yep. For those following along, the second sentence in Making an Attack on page 29 indicates you target a Character (not a unit) with your attack, and then the paragraph at the top right of page 31 specifies that Directed effects (which include Shoves) during an attack must be applied to the defending Character (not unit). You did get the part where Ahsoka's jump from the first Magnadroid's attack could take her out of engagement range with the second right, though! Again, for those following along, page 23 has a Multiple Character Units heading that goes on to say that for each action, you resolve the action fully for the first character before moving on to the next's execution of that action.
Question, shouldn't Magna Guard block Obi-Wan's attack into Dooku? It looks like they are within Range 2 of Dooku so both Bodyguard and Intercede should trigger? Edit: Now that I see it from a different angle, they seem too far away.
Yeah, the camera can sometimes skew the perspective. Between clips, we tend to check, and double check, a lot of ranges to make sure what we plan on doing is correct (the best of our knowledge), especially with ranges.
You deploy and then turn over the mission. not see what the mission is and then deploy. When you activated Kalani at the start you used the Dash movement tool instead of the Advance movement tool. Advance is long, Dash is short. When you attack you select a character (base) not both characters if in a support unit. So only 1 magnaguard could be pushed, plus they could not be pushed off the walkway as it has railings on both sides so would stop when it hits them. To win a struggle the clear cube has to be on the same space as the black cube or past them/ So the 1st struggle didnt end when it did. @42 min the wrong B1 was pushed back. The one attacked would have been pushed back into the other and stopped.
We have been corrected (many times now) on the misunderstanding of the pushes. As for the walkways, we were not treating those little nubs as railings that would stop a shove/push. As for the order, we sometimes got ahead of ourselves, and tried to course correct as we went. Also, the struggle was our misread of it, but at least we applied it wrong consistently
I noticed a few times when the defending player used Hunker down tokens in melee combat, this can't be done as you lose all hunker down tokens when you are engaged, and can't gain more while engaged (Page 17 of the rules) Not sure if anyone else already let you know about this one. Still, nice to see the video, love your MCP content and really looking forward to this game.
So if you check out Kenobi's card, his identity actually allows you to not only retain your hunker when engaged, for galactic republic, but use them while engaged against melee, as well
@@AegisbrandStudios Fair enough, I hadn't seen his card. Did you mention it in the video and I missed it? Or was it assumed everyone had seen the preview already? Just curious about how unobservant I was :)
And also illegal. ;) Attacks are made against Characters, not Units, and the Shove is a Directed effect that must target the same character as the Attack.
@@AegisbrandStudios Good to know, I thought it was strange and had been trying to find in the rules where it was allowed. Good to know it was a mistake so I don't make the same one when I get my copy.
Hey Guys, haven't managed to watch the whole thing yet but one huge mistake was the order you chose the Struggle and Deployed. You deploy all of your Squads BEFORE choosing the struggle you are going to play (meaning you cant deploy where you know where the active objective will be)
You are correct. Still only a handful of games in, so we are still getting a feeling for the timing on some aspects of it, but repetition breeds familiarity and all. If you catch other things (not already in the comments) definitely fire them off. We are definitely on the more casual side of things, but there are people who like to learn from watching, so we try not to make repeat mistakes. Also, glad to see you checking the content out, Rich!
Another good battle report. Really enjoyed watching. Great close game. Nice to see the terrain stay up better this time. Did you do anything different to help with that? On another note I think there needs to be a Priority Marker to place next to the priority point each round. I saw at least one time you guys mixed up which point was priority and awarded incorrect points.
We actually, somehow, misplaced the token mid game 😂 and were unable to.locate it. We eventually found it hanging out by Maul of all places. As for terrain, nothing different. Just placed in areas less likely to get knocked by sleeves and elbows
Wp so few questions if I may why when your shoved off a terrain price does nothing really happen. Also that attack on the battle droids where the front ones took damage but the back ones got shoved seems odd. Know for the sake of keeping the vid watchable the 2 sets of attack and defence could be brought together buy guess once you start playing the game you do that automatically. Kinda gutted that AMG are not at the UK games expo hope a secondary vendor has a demo game on. Thanks WP
There is a possibility we have misinterpreted the target of the pushes. It may be the target character, as opposed to unit. I will be looking into that in the AM, when I am awake and more aware. As for shoving off terrain, yeah, there is no fall damage. Some may like that, others may not.
@@AegisbrandStudios during a livestream the devs said the reason they didn't go for fall damage is that you will never go up on buildings that way in a game where there is so much shoving and pulling already. Also wondering if you found any rules yet if the shove of the b1 droids is allowed. Looks weird but supporting units are that already lol
Yeah, so we mucked up early on. You target characters, and not units, so basically you only push your targets, not the whole unit. We got it wrong, but at least we got it wrong equally for both of us 😂
A misunderstanding on that rules on our part, then. At least we have been playing it consistently with that misunderstanding, and not changing it for each instance. Appreciate the feedback!
