Couldn't agree more. It also is useful to say the chord numbers when practicing songs, as this will help you learn their chord progressions faster, and this will help you hear what's going on in the song. There are certain chord sequences that occur in many songs.
Yes! That's absolutely true. Great point.
My favorite guitar teacher 😎
Hey thank you 😀🙏
Thank you for this! really well done as usual.
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it.
I recently recognized that I totally plateaued with guitar since beginning to learn in 2022 and your videos are really helping me get out of that! I appreciate the logical approach and recognition that so many music theory "rules" are more aptly described as systems that help us extend and understand the major scale
I'm glad you're finding my videos helpful! It's crazy how so much of what you'll learn ends up relating back to the major scale. 😅
Scales / Diatonics / Voice leading /
Thanks for sharing the Nashville Chord Progression number system i ii iii iv v vi vii in key C / G - demonstrated within the guitar fretboard positions

Haha, awesome! Glad it was helpful.
I learned something good today. It’s much appreciated!
Awesome! Glad I could help :)
The no system is also practical for bass guitarist...cherrio..
Thank you
You're welcome!
Great explanation. I have the charts of the Nashville Numbering System and the Circle of Fifths. Mostly I've been studying and getting familiar with the Nashville Numbering System chart. This explanation makes it even more clear on how the system works. I downloaded your handbook when you first made it available. The handbook is fantastic, it makes it easier to understand, and very handy to have them all together in one place. Your chart has the 7th chord scale, which my Nashville chart only has the numbers and the chords. I'm not sure if you have done a chart/lesson on the Circle of Fifths already, if not could you do a lesson on that in the future. You're a great teacher and guitarist. Thanks for the lessons and the chart.
Cool! Glad you like it. I haven't done anything on the Circle of Fifths yet since I don't really use it much myself. But I feel like I should probably make a few resources for it at some point. Cheers!
Next perhaps you should do a video ( if you've not yet ) about modal interchange and parallel keys and maybe even tritone substitution or secondary dominants ! 🎸 x
Good suggestion!
Thank for the video, as a beginner it was extremely insightful
Newb question; If C Major and A Minor share all the same chords, how do you know which key you're in. C or Am?
Glad it was helpful! And this video should answer that question for you: ruclips.net/video/6CiDlJepl-o/видео.html
Question: If you're playing in a minor key - ie: Am, would the 6 become the 1?
Yes. But you can still always relate everything back to the major key numbers and be “correct”. When I’m gigging and a song is in a minor key, I’ll still communicate that minor 6 chord as a 6 chord. Unless it’s a blues, then usually it’s a 1.
Awesome video, Andrew. I hope you're doing well.
Thanks, John. I am. Hope you're well, too!
i dont understand, why does flattened 7 turn F# dim into F maj? whys it not either Fdim too or F# maj?
Hello what technique you use to play a rythem guitar chord progression instantly when a song is sung you never heard
Hey! In this video, I teach exactly that: ruclips.net/video/kmAK4tRmLec/видео.html
How can you easily memorize the correlation between the number and the letter without counting up or down on your fingers?????
I like to use the Chord Roadmaps I mentioned at the end of the video to give you a moveable framework for the number system so you don't have to count. I cover it in this video: ruclips.net/video/dYs_0Rx3CTI/видео.html
Exactly how I learned. Everything is numbers not notes.
Do you or anyone else have this in PDF on internet? Man we work alot.İ don't have time for guitar very much.İf you have answer please share
Like the PDF version of all the keys with the chords using numbers? I have that available here: andrewclarkeguitar.com/p/the-guitarists-companion-keys-and-chords
@@andrewclarkeguitar Wow.Thank you very much for all effort.Cannot.believe its free
@@said.skopal You're very welcome. I hope it's helpful!!
Is there a chart for minor scales too?

Just about chords. Not about which chords sound good together (e.g., why 2-5-1 sounds good). I was expecting something like what groups of chords go well together (not just secondary dominant).
