The flame throwing crocodile was made to fight against bunkers, not tanks but a nice contribution to the brilliant British engineers. ARL is the strange one, but a good contribution to the French. I visited Normandy a month ago, and the local French people are very proud about the d day history so they deserve a tank too. They make credits mate, so enjoy the free stuff.

I've always felt that instead of selling premium tanks Wargaming should sell "premium upgrades", which would turn a tech tree tank into a tank that trains crew more efficiently and earns more credits. That way you could upgrade the tanks you really like and everyone could compete on more equal grounds. The upgrades could very well cost as much as premium tanks do.
Tank nerd here Can confirm that flamethrowers did work against tanks, mostly Russian ones that had big holes in the welds (so an average 1942 T-34). BUT You could hose a tank with a flamethrower to do many things. You could set the engine bay on fire, blind the various optics and periscopes on the tank and, especially on open top tanks, potentially just knock the entire thing out.
Hell yea I want more historical skins/reskins of existing tanks. I don't even bother putting the Ninja Turtle bullshit on my tanks. I did not come here to play plastic toy tanks. 90 % of my camouflages I got are crap. There are a few select ones I transfer around on tanks I like when I play them a lot. The ugly ones I keep for low tier tanks I want free camo, but I don't play those much. I would love to have decals from actual regiments to modify my tanks. Instead I get 80 dog paws from Christmas event. It's just ridiculous.

@@Pawpilled Poor computers, internet connections, young players or multitude of bots (most likely, as a lot don't fire at all, or fire to miss) will also do that, it's not just 'old' people, who may have started the game 11+ years ago, and are actually quite good.
And the crocodile had a 75gun ( not the 76 from the Churchill VI) because it was built to assault bunkers and the 75mm HE shells where better than the 76 HE. Same reason that commanders wanted 1 Sherman with 75mm to get to bunkers when the other 4 would use 76 for tank combat.
Lesta flamethrowers work like this: they have insane frontal armor, you roll in upfront, and burn continuously (fuel in canister you get instead of shells) through the cone in front, even behind some obstacles. Then you recharge.
You do not want flamethrower vehicles. On console and russian server they have high firerates, always deal damage (10-60) regardless of armor, deal a dot which is not affected by fire prevention perks or fire extinguishers, deal a ridiculous ammount of damage to modules and crew and are usually a secondary weapon meaning it can be used between shots meaning its near impossible go rush such vehicles without loosing a majority of your health.

If they want to continue with this premium tank in battle pass thingy, I would suggest including tier VII premium in the premium BP purchase. Tier VII currently doesn't have a lot of premium tanks, so even premium version of existing tanks are actually welcome. I would like to get my hands on stuffs like Premium T29, Premium Tiger I (with current top gun), Premium T-34-1, etc. I don't have too many incentives to play Tier VII because there's not many good tier VII premium so even if they pump up the price a little bit (let's say, 3k gold) I would still buy some premium versuon of tier VII that I like.
Fun Fact: WOT Console has flamethrowers such as the churchil oke and the tvp vtu. The flamethrower does 100 penatration doing 14dps with 120 magazine. The Churchill Oke carrys 1200 of fuel for the flamethrower. Its deals dot damage as the you continue to hit the enemy with the flames causing them to lose modules and eventually causing them to set on fire. Theres also missile on a Sherman that is known as the calliope. It has 60 missiles along with the gun that it has on stock. Also allows you to use the smaller secondary guns on the japanese heavys like the O-I Experimental and german heavys like the Maus
I've noticed when I have unlocked a new tech tree tank the first 3 games with it, I'm always top tier. So the whole idea its your first games in those tanks and you got good match making does make some sense. I think that since they added the crocodile even though it doesn't have the flame thrower as an actual weapon it should at least have its trailer with the fuel for the flamer.

One thing also, the mission packs you can buy to speed up your way through the tree are now purchasable just for gold in the in-game store. So if you've hoarded gold since Christmas and don't want to play wot every day, those are viable to buy as well and come with some reserves and a BIA+2 skill commander in one of the packages

I have all the tech tree tanks so just moving my crew to the prem versions and making more credits. It's a no brainer. I was sadly disappointed in the Teenage mutant ninja turtles battle pass. The only skin i like is the manticore because the big eyeball on top blinking lol. Otherwise i prefer cool looking 3d styles for the era of tanks.
If you check "how to earn points" section, it says m48 patton, centruion Ax and AMX M4 mle. 54 are giving bonus points for certain conditions, so there are bonus tanks as previous battle pass events.
once again I am impressed by the 3D model work of tank skins in game. Not sure why they didn't pick a regular Sherman though, and the ARL 44 doesnt make much sense but still!
Right now, as I'm starting out, having a fun premium to grind credits and stuff on is nice, twice, I want to focus on one tree, so getting a premium version of a tank I want while not grinding that whole line is nice. Tbh your view on these tanks is from a more competitive/pro player who has everything already, for someone who doesnt have any premiums yet, it's very nice.
I personally love the Churchill's and Black prince after WG buffed them, i just wish they'd buff the gun dep on all of the cause -4 on the churchill 7 is a long way away from the -10/-12 it had irl. And what QB says about the E8 being the lowest tier tank able to use Vert Stabs that's not correct, The T5 german light Leo can use Vert stabs as well, and the fact that WG never bothered to Buff the aimtime on the ARL 44.... 3.4 sec aimtime on a 90mm when the 88mm on the Tiger 131 has 2.2 sec.
Partially Skill based MM could be good. 5 random people get matched, so 33% teams is equal and the rest random. So it could be 5 tomatoes on either side, or 5 unicums a side or 2 unicums and 3 tomatoes. etc..
I've only picked up this game a bit over a week ago, coming back after playing it in its early days. I like the free tier VI premiums, because they make it easier for me to farm credits. I got the Sherman first, because I already had a premium Churchill from signing up with a code. I'm now working towards the CDT. Daily missions plus maxing out battle pass points on tanks makes it pretty easy.
I've never used the 3 featured tanks in battle pass - I just play as many of the lower tier tanks as i can ( vs T6 now WG have added T4 + 5.... ) as the bonus for completing these vehicles outweighs any other scoring method - and it's way more fun than grinding 3 vehicles for 2 months ..........
Great video QB. :) I actually always liked the arl 44 when i was grinding it - but that was before wot 1.0 and the hd model for this tank. The turret had the same armour numbers, but it was smaller and lower profile, which made it harder to hit and was ok bouncy at times. Kinda looked sexy and sleek. The new turret is just so huge for what little armor it has. The 90 mm was my favourite because it didnt need to use so much premium ammo and the accuracy worked quite well for me.
Historical accuracy is a better look than cartoons. Thousands of veterans gave their lives to give us the freedoms we take for granted. Making cartoon characters in place of historical elements is a mockery. I realise that some soldiers, sailors and airmen painted their equipment with graphics that were "cartoon" in nature. But they had that right.
I'm going for the Sherman first, mainly because I like the way they play. I have all the variants in the game so far and want to add this one to my garage. m the second will be the Churchilll because having another premium British heavy trainer is a good thing. Overall, I like this style of Battle Pass. I like the fact that we're getting some free tanks instead of yet another Tier 10 skin. For the last three events, I've only bothered with 2 of the three chapters because I just was not interested in spending that amount of time to get something I'll never use. As a newer player, I appreciate any time WG gives opportunities to get decent tanks. Nice change of pace after the slap in the face from 'Patton the tank'
I liked the TMNT BP better. Only because I put my Turtle crew + Shredder into my Mutant that I bought. I not only got a tank that I never thought I'd get, but I got a 3 perk crew to put in it. And then put several crew training books into them just because I could.. so now, I have a 5 perk crew in my Mutant, and it's fun as can be!! This thing is a bouncy nightmare that most younger players can't pen. It's beautiful.
QB you of all people should know that for the first five games of playing a new tank you will be top tier. Atleast it was like that a year ago when i last played the game.
I am much more motivated to play through battle pass to get one of the T6 premiums than a style for a tank I might not have. Will be nice to get a few more premiums with the d-day events and battle pass.
Im actually very impressed with WG for this event... lots of free tanks AND they arent handing out the crappy ones, the free token ones are top of the competitive side

so i think it's cool that there's the battelpass, i was looking forward to it more than the previous one. After all, everyone can play the tanks this way and I won't say no to free premiums and the styles look cool.
New Players can have good winrates. I do remember being asked how I reached 52% winrate (at about 1-3k games), because it was so good. I stupid me back then asked if that wasn't just above average, because I never considered draws at the time. I'm still around the 52% win rate with loads more battles under my belly. I wouldn't discount beginners as having to have bad winrates. Most will likely do have them, but more experienced gamers starting Tanks may well be able to reach better win rates early on. Or maybe having friends bringing them into the game and explaining how to play and thus being better. I at least wouldn't mind showing and teaching a friend how to sidescrape or how to use camo etc. And knowing these things early on can increase winrate a lot (ok, seal clubbers may crush the winrate a little...). The friend would need to want to learn these things though. I'd tell him I can teach him, but he's got to want it too.
the first time you play wiith a tank you always get top tier, having acess to press account for so long you should know that QB. Also tehre is a protection for new players for the first 250 battles as long as you don't play above tier 6.
Flamethrowers had an effective range of 20m to a maximum of 45m (US M1A1). That's like 4 Maus lengths. So essentially it would be a brawl breaker so to speak. I would probably make it as a high DPM short range weapon that deals massive module and crew damage over time (and maybe has some bonus direct fire chance). Maybe scale up the range by tier (so tier 6-8 could only flamethrow vehicles at like 1-2 tank lengths away, and tier 9-10 really the 40m) So it would be a hard counter to the armor and heavy brawling meta. However I doubt it can ever be a main weapon; you still need some kind of mid-to-long range gun. Therefore, the short range flamethrower would be a secondary weapon of some sort (WG can introduce this in addition to other tanks' secondary weapons, like e.g. the pop gun on the Maus). Maybe even allow players to mount the flamethrower as a module or consumable to some tanks, maybe with limited fuel.
It's a bummer that it doesn't get that juicy E2 turret haha. Also, the E8 struggles to fight tier 7s even. It's a tank I like to play, but the powercreep has just elipsed it by so many different tanks that it's painful to play.
that d-day anniversary is great, great event great mode, i personally i love the hisory of d-day so it was nice to make a battlepass of it, its awesome that you can get 3 prenium instead 3d styles( i tought first when i saw it you just get 3 3d styles for the sherman, churchill and arl:D) and you can get 2 other prenium tanks too with those tokens, thats great but in my opinion, they make the sherman tanks in wot a little too weak, and not so popular, i know, it was not the best tank that can beat tigers or panthers but it was in real life a tank that every almost every tanker liked, it was cheap to produce, reliable, decent firepower, it was like a all round tank, in my opinion it need more attention to this tank, even the best shermans in the second world war like the firefly and the jumbo, not much people use it. they also need to ad the sherman tank with a pershing turret with his 90mm gun, it was never used but world of tanks use a lot of exerimental vehicles so they need to add it:D
Churchill Crocodile is honestly a baffling choice. You literally can't use its defining feature. I can't wait for WG to add Sherman Calliope where you can't use rockets.
It would be nice if the tier 6 Sherman’s got a little buff. Keep in mind they have trash little pew pew guns with no armor and have to fight t35-85m every game

All I said was far prefer historical tanks and that's what drew me towards the game, I'm not hating anyone for liking the War hammer skins or the rocket powered tanks, fair enough if you like that, it's just not my thing. If you go out looking for hate than that's all you will find.
I prefere the D-Day event over the TMNT event but i am happy that both exist so everybody can have fun
One of the cool things about T6 premium tanks is, you can easily get the Battlepass bonus points, so it's quite good to quickly grind BP points.
I have all the tech tree tanks so just moving my crew to the prem versions and making more credits. It's a no brainer. I was sadly disappointed in the Teenage mutant ninja turtles battle pass. The only skin i like is the manticore because the big eyeball on top blinking lol. Otherwise i prefer cool looking 3d styles for the era of tanks.
I haven't played for 4 years at uni, came back for this battle pass, it's refreshing to have some history-adjacent content imo
If you check "how to earn points" section, it says m48 patton, centruion Ax and AMX M4 mle. 54 are giving bonus points for certain conditions, so there are bonus tanks as previous battle pass events.
once again I am impressed by the 3D model work of tank skins in game. Not sure why they didn't pick a regular Sherman though, and the ARL 44 doesnt make much sense but still!

Right now, as I'm starting out, having a fun premium to grind credits and stuff on is nice, twice, I want to focus on one tree, so getting a premium version of a tank I want while not grinding that whole line is nice. Tbh your view on these tanks is from a more competitive/pro player who has everything already, for someone who doesnt have any premiums yet, it's very nice.
I personally love the Churchill's and Black prince after WG buffed them, i just wish they'd buff the gun dep on all of the cause -4 on the churchill 7 is a long way away from the -10/-12 it had irl. And what QB says about the E8 being the lowest tier tank able to use Vert Stabs that's not correct, The T5 german light Leo can use Vert stabs as well, and the fact that WG never bothered to Buff the aimtime on the ARL 44.... 3.4 sec aimtime on a 90mm when the 88mm on the Tiger 131 has 2.2 sec.
So many different Sherman variants vs. so many different T-34 variants. Really looking forward to having these in my garage.
Not sure if you noticed but the M4A3 (76)W has 12 degrees of gun depression, the Easy 8 and Fury only get 10. This could be handy in a pinch...
Partially Skill based MM could be good. 5 random people get matched, so 33% teams is equal and the rest random. So it could be 5 tomatoes on either side, or 5 unicums a side or 2 unicums and 3 tomatoes. etc..
This is a surprisingly generous event. A very special occasion for sure, but premiums for the battle pass, free tokens for premium tanks too
Ru server flamethrower is a first line arty with good armor and mobility and cassette ammo. It is fighting boldly against HT's and people hate it.
I've only picked up this game a bit over a week ago, coming back after playing it in its early days. I like the free tier VI premiums, because they make it easier for me to farm credits. I got the Sherman first, because I already had a premium Churchill from signing up with a code. I'm now working towards the CDT. Daily missions plus maxing out battle pass points on tanks makes it pretty easy.

Premium arl44 - best gift from WG, I love this tank.
For me, the reason Iove the ARL 44 is because back in the days of the old MM it was the first tank I felt I could pen most anything I would face.
I've never used the 3 featured tanks in battle pass - I just play as many of the lower tier tanks as i can ( vs T6 now WG have added T4 + 5.... ) as the bonus for completing these vehicles outweighs any other scoring method - and it's way more fun than grinding 3 vehicles for 2 months ..........

I actually always liked the arl 44 when i was grinding it - but that was before wot 1.0 and the hd model for this tank.
The turret had the same armour numbers, but it was smaller and lower profile, which made it harder to hit and was ok bouncy at times.
Kinda looked sexy and sleek. The new turret is just so huge for what little armor it has.
The 90 mm was my favourite because it didnt need to use so much premium ammo and the accuracy worked quite well for me.
So what you recommend to take from this 3 tanks QB ? I am guessing that Churchill is best pick
I feel like if they gave the crocodile its flamethrower it should be a short burst and just track or stun your enemies at close range like 25 meters
Historical accuracy is a better look than cartoons. Thousands of veterans gave their lives to give us the freedoms we take for granted. Making cartoon characters in place of historical elements is a mockery. I realise that some soldiers, sailors and airmen painted their equipment with graphics that were "cartoon" in nature. But they had that right.
I'm going for the Sherman first, mainly because I like the way they play. I have all the variants in the game so far and want to add this one to my garage. m the second will be the Churchilll because having another premium British heavy trainer is a good thing. Overall, I like this style of Battle Pass. I like the fact that we're getting some free tanks instead of yet another Tier 10 skin. For the last three events, I've only bothered with 2 of the three chapters because I just was not interested in spending that amount of time to get something I'll never use. The T6 Churchill is a great dpm monster at tier 6 though. This tank is very enjoyable imo
As a newer player, I appreciate any time WG gives opportunities to get decent tanks. Nice change of pace after the slap in the face from 'Patton the tank'

Playing tier 6 feels good from time to time when you get overwhelmed by spamming tier8 and tier 10 it's something different and fun.
well yeah crocodile had a flame thrower as part of it's secondary armament the main gun was a 75mm

I believe there are 3 tier 10 tanks that get the extra bonus, the Patton the Cent AX and the AMX 54.
I liked the TMNT BP better. Only because I put my Turtle crew + Shredder into my Mutant that I bought. I not only got a tank that I never thought I'd get, but I got a 3 perk crew to put in it. And then put several crew training books into them just because I could.. so now, I have a 5 perk crew in my Mutant, and it's fun as can be!! This thing is a bouncy nightmare that most younger players can't pen. It's beautiful.
QB you of all people should know that for the first five games of playing a new tank you will be top tier. Atleast it was like that a year ago when i last played the game.
I am much more motivated to play through battle pass to get one of the T6 premiums than a style for a tank I might not have. Will be nice to get a few more premiums with the d-day events and battle pass.

They have flamethrower tanks on the console version. They work surprisingly smooth. Dont know why they don't transition them to the PC version

so i think it's cool that there's the battelpass, i was looking forward to it more than the previous one. After all, everyone can play the tanks this way and I won't say no to free premiums and the styles look cool.
God I am so happy to see more non VIII premiums brought in. That tier is so oversaturated that its stagnating the gameplay.
The tanks are just reskinned versions of their tech tree counterparts, fully upgraded. By the time you earn them, you already have the normal version

New Players can have good winrates. I do remember being asked how I reached 52% winrate (at about 1-3k games), because it was so good. I stupid me back then asked if that wasn't just above average, because I never considered draws at the time. I'm still around the 52% win rate with loads more battles under my belly.
I wouldn't discount beginners as having to have bad winrates. Most will likely do have them, but more experienced gamers starting Tanks may well be able to reach better win rates early on. Or maybe having friends bringing them into the game and explaining how to play and thus being better. I at least wouldn't mind showing and teaching a friend how to sidescrape or how to use camo etc. And knowing these things early on can increase winrate a lot (ok, seal clubbers may crush the winrate a little...). The friend would need to want to learn these things though. I'd tell him I can teach him, but he's got to want it too.

My AMX M4 54 has that gold glow above it with a 1000 battlepass points cap so i guess its one of the core vehicles somehow.
I really enjoyed the TMNT event. I also like the D-day event also. Variety is the spice of life.

You are correct the Crocodile was a flame thrower tank
the first time you play wiith a tank you always get top tier, having acess to press account for so long you should know that QB. Also tehre is a protection for new players for the first 250 battles as long as you don't play above tier 6.

Flamethrowers had an effective range of 20m to a maximum of 45m (US M1A1).
That's like 4 Maus lengths. So essentially it would be a brawl breaker so to speak.
I would probably make it as a high DPM short range weapon that deals massive module and crew damage over time (and maybe has some bonus direct fire chance).
Maybe scale up the range by tier (so tier 6-8 could only flamethrow vehicles at like 1-2 tank lengths away, and tier 9-10 really the 40m)
So it would be a hard counter to the armor and heavy brawling meta.
However I doubt it can ever be a main weapon; you still need some kind of mid-to-long range gun. Therefore, the short range flamethrower would be a secondary weapon of some sort (WG can introduce this in addition to other tanks' secondary weapons, like e.g. the pop gun on the Maus).
Maybe even allow players to mount the flamethrower as a module or consumable to some tanks, maybe with limited fuel.
Saw the premium E8 in a battle on day 1.

Also, the E8 struggles to fight tier 7s even. It's a tank I like to play, but the powercreep has just elipsed it by so many different tanks that it's painful to play.

that d-day anniversary is great, great event great mode, i personally i love the hisory of d-day so it was nice to make a battlepass of it, its awesome that you can get 3 prenium instead 3d styles( i tought first when i saw it you just get 3 3d styles for the sherman, churchill and arl:D) and you can get 2 other prenium tanks too with those tokens, thats great but in my opinion, they make the sherman tanks in wot a little too weak, and not so popular, i know, it was not the best tank that can beat tigers or panthers but it was in real life a tank that every almost every tanker liked, it was cheap to produce, reliable, decent firepower, it was like a all round tank, in my opinion it need more attention to this tank, even the best shermans in the second world war like the firefly and the jumbo, not much people use it. they also need to ad the sherman tank with a pershing turret with his 90mm gun, it was never used but world of tanks use a lot of exerimental vehicles so they need to add it:D
