I havent had the money to play this game when it came out. my pc was to bad and i was still in school. so it was only gothic 1 and 2 for me, which were awesome games. i heard so much bad about this game. but when i finally had the money i picked it up. installed all the patches and content mods that were recommended and... boy i nearly cried about how big and awesome this game is and how everyone bashed it. if only jowood hadnt pushed it to be released... i hope everyone who complained about it when it came out came back after the patches and played it again. what an epic adventure...
Well, that's because Gothic 3 sucks as a game. The world is beautifully crafted, the music is breathtaking, but the game itself, the combat, the character controls and the structure of the progression all ferociously suck rat dicks. The whole game is a huge load of wasted potential.
People can say how Gothic 3 was not that great, but this music alone makes this game perfect for me. The best soundtrack ever. Gothic 3 will always have a special place in my heart. All games in the series and Risen 1 :) Kai and PB
+IvanDado Zg It's hard to explain, the armors downgraded from the cm 2.6.3. Just type up ' Gothic 3 2.6.3 armors' and the watch a video of cm 3.0 armors. The diffrence is big.

Can't explain how much I love the Gothic Series (the real ones), the soundtrack is completely awesome, for me it's even outshining the TES soundtrack. Whenever I hear this one I need to think of sitting in one of Myrtana's cities at a campfire in the mud and grass while it's slowly turning midnight, it's raining and the mercenaries and orcs doing their stuff or going to bed, the slaves still work at the ruins to dig the artifacts out of the rubble of the destroyed temple. The whole mood that is created by this beautiful music and the whole gritty and harsh world is truly amazing.
Oh i completely understand you. It brings me so many hearthwarming memories... did you also roleplay about being just a regular guy doing his daily routine in a city? Waking up, eating, doing his job, sitting in a tavern, going to sleep....

I am from Germany and when I was 10 years old, my grandfather has secretly allowed me to play Gothic 3. So I came in touch with the series. Even though most people hate the third part, it is the one I love the most, especially for the soundtracks. It is a fantastic nostalgic feel to listen to the geldern night theme. Sometimes it would almost have me in tears.
The hate on g3 was because it was a new generation of graphics and most ppl had slow computers and couldnt play it. It had a few bugs but overall G3 is a masterpiece easy.

Gothic 3 has many, many major problems, starting with world building, ignoring already established lore, a way too big map with way to few areas of note, repetetive gameplay, meaningless quests etc etc. I don´t say you can´t enjoy gothic 3, I did too, but it´s far from a masterpiece.

I remember I spent 2hrs on conquering a city and when I approached the boss orc, it turned out he's flying in the air, at the ceiling, and I can't reach him. The only option was to reload the save and start from the beginning (any intermediate save had the same problem). This was the point where I stopped playing. I have no problem with minor bugs (Gothic 1&2 had some of them too), but a game with bugs wasting you hours is unplayable and should not be released; it's just unfinished product. But when I returned to it after years and got the patches I really enjoyed it :)
Life sucks as a whole. However, gaming has been getting me going. I cannot imagine how my life would have gone if I have had not been gaming, and gothic 3 is one of the best I have ever played. And the background score is just very refreshing and takes me back in time when i used to play this game a lot. Love it thoroughly
I agree friend and I can def. relate. For the past 8 years for me life was hard, depressing and questioning. There were positive moments, but as a whole it was bad. At the moment it's probably the worst ever. If there was not something we humans love to do in our spare time, such as gaming to us, we would have been who knows where. I often come to listen to the music of the Gothic franchise, not only cause its beautiful, but because it reminds me of the time when life was good to me. Still hoping for the better times in the near future for all of us.
Ahh Gothic 3. I started playing Gothic 2 with 10 or 11 years old. got it from my older brothers. One evening, there was an event called moonlight shopping in my city where they set up candles in our small little city center and the stores are open very late(normally uncommon here in europe). Went into a shop and saw Gothic 3 on the shelf. I lost it, normally my mom wouldn’t buy me games but she agreed. I can‘t explain how extremely happy I was that night. Wonderful game on itself. Not a really good gothic, but still great. But years later I am still in love with the music. Especially Geldern night. Also the night in the colony music from G1 or the pirate music from G2. Lovely memories ❤
I absolutely love the slightly offbeat and unclean lopsided notes to this music, normally such playing would sound horrible, but it makes such a simple piece like this sound like a genious masterwork.
The only thing that I see while listening this is firecamp,friends around me at calm forest ,watching out for wolfes,cooking some chicken at firecamp,and bard playing this music at lute. Even it's funny that when some people at world die I dont feel sad or want to cry,but while listening to Gothic music every time I have this feeling in my head that makes me sad. Ahh memories .

I really hope Kai Rosenkrantz will get to see just how many people tuned in for this. Gothic 3 was my fav game ever, and this was because of the music. Such music that made you look over the fact that THE GAME WASN'T FINISHED and was full of bugs.

Absolutely loved Gothic 3. It was full of bugs and crashed constantly when I bought it at release and stopped playing it because it just didn't work, but started again when some of the community patches was out. And it was a blast. It was an adventure I got instantly hooked on and didn't let go until the end. All those areas and their own set of background music. Phenomenal. Only a few games come close.
I remembered the days when I was running errands for the orcs, and came back to geldern to finish 'em...it was ussually at night and before I was starting new errands, I waited till' the morning near a campfire listening to this great, epic music...It's so great....

No, the mods really don't fix that, the unofficial patch merely makes the game playable, but theres no fix to the utterly crappy combat.
