- This was my first listen to a live cut from Tool. This video’s got such an amazing classic rock feel to it. It’s like a cool jam session. Love it!

Best drummer alive, Danny Carey.
Love Led Zeppelin and Love Tool. Great version of No Quarter. Definitely look up “Danny Carey drum-cam for Pneuma” that is a great gateways into Tool. Then you can go back and continue down the rabbit-hole that is Tool’s music. Enjoyed your Grudge video and look forward to going back and watching more of your videos.
Oh, and MJK is singing through a megaphone. He does that for some songs. I seem to remember that at least on some performances he doesn't use it in the chorus. But that could be a false memory.
tool and zeppelin, cant go wrong.
Check out this song on Tools live album Salival. Maynard only uses the megaphone at the beginning and seamlessly goes into his singing voice. Danny Carey is the greatest drummer of all time.
If you're going to go down the Tool rabbit hole, here's a few suggestions.
1. Avoid their official music videos, they're a whole different art form and too distracting to pay attention to the music.
2. Check out Pneuma drum cam video
3. Keep an eye on comments for songs that need to be listened to together
Avoid their videos? Got anymore terrible advice?
@@Illumignostic sorry, to clarify, avoid as a first listen. Once you experience the song, then dive deeper and watch videos
I was there! They had the drums turn up so loud you could feel every one of those feels vibrate through your chest.

Beat part of a tool show
TOOL is once in a lifetime band, much like Zeppelin. No category they fit in, but they go where no band previously has ever gone
Love to see someone new to Tool who “gets it” right away. Totally agree on the Pink Floyd vibes - they’re just newer and more heavy. But very psychedelic, deep and put together masterpiece after masterpiece.
You’re ready for the Danny Carey drum cam of Pneuma. My other suggestions:
1. Forty-six & 2
2. Lost Keys and Rosetta Stoned (2 part song)
3. Right in Two
4. Wings for Marie pts. 1 & 2
5. The Patient
6. The Grudge
You can search for Tool Sacramento from 1998 and find 2 full concerts. They're both really good, especially for as old as the recordings are.
whoa!!! that video quality is great! never seen this live video
I seen them five times, awesome every time!
Glad you're digging TOOL !

Enjoying the reactions. You'd like the Danny Carey Pneuma drum cam video I think...
"No quarter" means noeecy.
"No quarters" means no lodging.
In the song, "We ask mo quarter," "we take no quarter:" we won't beg for mercy, and we offer none. Victory or death.
yep, it's an opening, because that's Viginti Tres at the beginning, the last and experimental Lustmord track off 10K Days album.
Maynard uses a megaphone to get that sound.
MORE TOOL!!!
Pneuma live drum cam
You would love this video
I think it had something to do with having To feed and shelter British soldiers before the Revolutionary War if they came Knocking on your door. I believe that's what no quarter comes from
Danny Carey Pneuma drum cam !
When I go to ooncerts they r great when they r like this one
Hey Bob, we can hear you loud and clear, no blocking so go ahead!
Ha. Thanks so much for the listen.
Really is random who does and doesn't get blocked. Some folks even use the official video and don't pause it, and they're fine.
Danny Carey
Look up Pnuma live video if you want to see great 🥁
You should listen to the studio version of this track, you will not be disappointed. You will be able to hear the vocals better. Drummer - Danny Carey the 🐙
The "studio version" from Salival is actually performed live. But yes, it sounds way better because its pulled right from the audio mixer they use to run through the speakers so there's no echo or crowd noise.
👍👍👍
I think there is a reference to Lord of Rings in Ramble On not No Quarter
Tool has a large enough discography that this is not their opener. It's mid-concert, and its a tribute paying respect Tool style not a cover.
If you do only videos that have lyrics displayed...stay away from official videos...then you should be fine and avoid copyright problems ;)
Hey Bob if you want to see a really good cover of No Quarter you need to do Beth's heart version. It's off her new Led Zeppelin tribute album. Guaranteed you won't be sorry. Pax.✌️
It's generally a military term as I know it. No quarter given, none taken. Basically means no prisoners. There are better examples of this played live as far as clearer vocals. Not a song they play live often. I've yet to see it 😔 This and Third Eye, which is also rarely played live are probably the two songs on just about all Tool fans wishlists that they haven't seen preformed live that have just about seen it all. Someday 🤞
The 3rd Amendment to the US Constitution: No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.
NO COMPARISON IN THE TWO I MEAN ITS 40 + YRS LATER
Still waiting for Dimash reactions 😔
Danny playing much better even from original tracks..
Led Zeppelin IS legendary....obviously.
But.........I can't lie, Tool's cover of this song is better than the original. By far.
Just my opinion. ;P
I know whats coming in the comment section
The 'album' (Salival) version is live as well, but far better than this. This is not a great representation of them singing this...
This recording is horrible. You need to listen to the Salival Live version. It's recorded Live professionally and it's incredible. None of these phones videos are worth watching.
I can't disagree with you. I liked it, but it wasn't easy to watch or listen to. I tried to just take in what I could. I haven't reacted to Saliva yet. I knew them when they first came out but never listened after that. I liked them, just never followed them. I'll see what I can do. Thanks.
Tool has done a great job, except Maynard. For me he has the wrong style vocally and spoilt the song.
Check out the studio version, this is in 2016 where Maynard started using his blow horn to mask his voice. He wanted less attention on his voice. It’s a lot cleaner on the studio version.
