The problem is not with chili jam, which is actually a very nice condiment for certain things. It's how Oliver used it in that horrific display of fried rice. It's like how guacamole is good, but if you scoop it into your fried rice, you're just destroying the dish.
I love Pizza, I love Icecream, but if you put Icecream on Pizza, I do not like you, lol.
I think Chili Jam would work on Shakshuka, I do like to try all kinds of spicy peppers on it, and the sugar does not bother me as I add it sometimes to enhance tomato flavor, I also use Lemon for the same reason but since this sauce has vinegar in it, I won't need Lemon.
I Would NOT use it on any rice dish tho, rice itself is full of carbs and has a sweet taste to it, so that's a bad mix.
@@belalabusultan5911 The most common form of shakshuka in the west is the Israeli version (popularized in The Jerusalem Cookbook, co-written by an Israeli Jew and Israeli Arab). That version of the dish originated in the Moroccan Jewish community and does use a form of red pepper paste (a version of harissa), which is similar to a chili jam, albeit less sweet. If you added chili jam, and left off the extra sugar, it would probably be similar to that.
The issue with putting the jam into a rice dish while it is cooking is that it will inevitably burn onto the pan during the fry. Anything with a high sugar content is difficult to pan fry, unless it also has a high water content (eg. fruit can be fried, but fruit jam cannot).

if you fry tomato and eggs, and they are the main ingredents, then it is authentic Shakshuka... I don't know the Israeli version, but I live in Palestine, each house has its own version, so I suppose it is the same for Israeli Arabs and for Jews from middle-eastern descent, you have all the freedom to enhance the (fried tomato and eggs) dish in any way you like :)
harissa sounds like an amazing addition, I don't know if it has any sugar in it, but it wouldn't matter any way :)
I make my dish extra spicy, a friend tried it and we had this conversation:

@@belalabusultan5911 Yeah, there are a ton of regional variations, with egg and tomato being the primary ingredients. If you're interested, the base for that version is called matbucha, and it's really easy to make. The basic ingredients are just peppers, tomato, paprika, garlic, olive oil, and salt, and then you slow-cook them into a paste.
Fortunately, I've never really had any bad digestive experiences with spicy food (heartburn or worse), and I've cooked some SPICY things. I make a Thai red curry that damn near melts through the bowl, and I've had some friends through my BJJ club who have said similar things after eating it.

thank you for the recipe, I must apologize for not being specific about mine, the thing is... we have different kinds of peppers around the year, so I add peppers by feeling, to be the right spice-ness.
I use vegetable oil mostly, then add some olive oil at the end and it tastes like it was cooked in olive oil, other ingredients are: a lot of garlic, black pepper, salt, tomato, cook them and stir them from time to time until they are almost cooked, add a quarter of a teaspoon of sugar, and 3 table spoons of lemon juice and stir, then add eggs and put it on low heat and put a lead on it, and after 5-10 minutes it will be cooked, eat it with pita bread and use the bread as a scoop, and have a side dish of sliced cucumbers that I put some salt and black pepper on them.

Yes, Chilli jam is originally from Thailand. We call it “Nam Prik Pao”. “Nam Prik” means Chilli Paste and “Pao” means burnt.
The taste is supposed to be sweet, spicy, oily, with smoky smell. It can also be eaten with bread and add pork fuss if you want.
@PunPun Nam Jim Kai is Thai Sweet Chilli Dipping sauce. This one looks too thick for that, but then, you are right that it doesn’t look “burnt”. It looks more sweet.

Not only the ratio but time and temperature and process is part of the recipe

One of the coolest CEOs ever. Man had a sense of humor, definitely did some research on Uncle Roger as well, he gave credit to his employees, showed that they use fresh ingredients in their products and has great pride in the end result of their hard work. He also stayed politically correct when Uncle Roger took jabs at Jamie Oliver. Wish we had more leaders like this in all industries.
It all started with Uncle Roger making fun of their products. Instead of taking it as an insult this guy saw it as an opportunity and got amazing exposure for his company on a popular RUclips channel.

I worked at one company with a CEO with similar energy. The work sucked so I didn't stay there long but you could always tell he had a ton of respect for his employees and would even jump into the trenches when we were getting overwhelmed.

Actually, it's part of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and is required for all personnel who are entering a plant.
The company can risk being shutdown, suspended operations or heavily fined/investigated if they don't comply.
Also, it was explained in the video that you need it for the truckers as they often have poor visibility with the vehicle frame and loads they carry.

@@DarthAxolotl A company that has a strong health and safety policy will require all visitors to be escorted and wear high vis outside the factory office unless they've gone through a proper site induction, usually done if they are going to be working there or visiting often (delivery drivers). Uncle Roger was visiting once and had constant supervision so a full induction isn't required.
In loading/unloading areas hi-vis will most likely be required for all staff as they are using forklifts.
This episode was SO cool! I can see Uncle Roger doing a complete season of "Dirty Jobs" but in Uncle Roger style. The CEO was so fun to watch and listen to too. Love it! 🙌

Okay but like can we all take a moment to appreciate how uncle roger is just so amazing, funny and cultured? I always get bullied for being asian, but watching Uncle Roger's videos just make me feel proud to be asian.

Bullied? That sucks.. Don't let it get to you though. You're going to be who you are and that's all that anyone can say or do, in all reality. Don't focus on the negative and build upon the positives. I'd be willing to bet you're far more than what any bully may call you. So be strong, if not for yourself then for others that face bullying too, regardless of why they're in the same boat. More people care than the people that hate; We just tend to forget that when our immediate world is surrounded by anything else.
Be proud! Asian culture is taking over everything lately! Tv, movies, food, music, etc. Don't let them bring you down!
I've been there, man. Maybe I wasn't bullied for being Asian but I'm pretty sure it didn't help - they probably thought I wouldn't fight back (and to be fair, at the time I didn't, so I guess they got it right). I promise it will get better, bro. It will suck, it will feel shitty and unbearable and it will feel like there's no end but do whatever you can to get yourself out of whatever place you're in. Screw those assholes, all they care about is dragging you down, so whether you're trying to go to university or just get a new job in a different place, try to get out of there. No need to give bullies the chance to mess with you. So many great role models like Uncle Roger out there for us. It won't last forever. And by the way, don't let them take what you love either. Hold on to that shit!
