Grateful Dead - Crazy Fingers (Foxboro, MA, 7/2/89)

- "A standout ethereal ballad from the Grateful Dead's ambitious 1975 studio album Blues For Allah, Crazy Fingers was played a less than a dozen times 1975-1976, and was then seemingly shelved for good. However, in 1982, the Dead brought it back into the live repertoire, where it remained and was played every year 1982-1995, with the exception of 1984. This is a rare first-set rendition." - David Lemieux

YES! I would def by a "Summer 89" video box set
That would be a dream come true
Ya can’t we get this for the Meet up at the Movies
They released audio & video for JFK and audio for both Giants Stadium shows. Did they also release something else too? Alpine maybe?
@@joefelice5062 Alpine is out. RFK and Philadelphia are out. Buffalo is out. It'll all come out eventually
Been on a huuuuge Crazy Fingers hype lately. Haven’t seen one live yet. Hoping Dead & Co play it in SF this summer
What a magical time. The Dead were hitting another peak in 89. Anything was possible. Life was good
Can we go back?
TRUMP was ready to pounce.
Hell yeah !!!!!
Love the reggae vibe. Jerry's mellifluous voice, sounding like honey 🍯, playing the guitar 🎸, like a a psychedelic spider, slipping and sliding up and down the fret board, with crazy fingers 🍄🌹🍄🌍🍄🧬🍄🔥🍄🐇🍄🌁🌁🌁🍄
Mydland made this band what it was between 1979 and 1990. The high harmonies and the melodic tension between Lesh, Garcia and Mydland. It was and still is unmatched.
Shiny gold rollie on the billygoat
These were good times and Jerry was looking and sounding great. As the year progressed he was at his best and that carried over to that spectacular spring 90 tour. I am blessed to have been involved during this period of time ✌️
Wow, look at Bob 34 years ago, clean shaven and brown haired. So was I back then. Thinking about going to The Dead cinema meet up next month.
Bobby has a bobby pin in his hair.
"Gone are the days"
🌼
Grateful we all made it.
Who says we don't have our childhood on video.
Long live Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead.
Exquisite times.
🎶 🌹 🎶
I was at the show. Wow time flies.
this song always reminds me of this snippet of W.B. Yeats:
and what rough beast
its hour come round at last
slouches towards Bethlehem
to be born
Summer Tour '89 was so much fun!
Yes it was
u old people lol
✨️💫✨️💖✨️💫✨️
My first Dead show...it was magical!
@Julie Goulart that's so awesome. Sumner '89 I turned 16 and that was the first year I traveled outside of California to see the Dead without my parents. Caught the majority of shows they played that year while managing to not drop out or get kicked out of high school 🤣. Hampton Coliseum and the Meadowlands that fall were mind blowing. Was such a magical time.
God I love song. This ain't no trick shot it's magic time ❤
Had so much fun playing these shows.
Yeah, but you had too much on your plate. Too many people relying on you should’ve enjoyed your older years but you died too soon. Trying to take care of everybody to pay everybody. Make sure everybody was fed. That’s Jerry Garcia. All he wanted to do is play that was it he didn’t want to be an idol didn’t want to be anything but a musician
I never could reach it just slipped away...But I tried🌹much love 🌹
How dare they pull one song out of a 3 song jam…
One of 3 times I was right up front 😃. Jerry tore up Wang Dang Doodle right after this. Great night in Foxboro!
No kidding!
Wish they did pro vids @ Expo, lol.
Truckin>Wang Dang Doodle >Crazy Fingers >Cumberland Blues>Eyes of the World, lol.
That segue into Wang Dang was flawless!!!
I caught the Jack Straw> Crazy Fingers >China>Rider at Giants 1991.
the absolute best Grateful Dead song
Yes!!!!! My favorite.
I don't disagree.
Hunter haikus = brilliance.
Thank you. Dead.
Dead
Dead
And more Dead ❤
Life may be sweeter than this, but I doubt it.😊
I was one of the photographers in the corner. An interesting show, and very hot. I met some great people that day.
I was fortunate to right up front, between Jerry & Bob. It was brutally hot indeed, but a very unexpected FOTD to open set 2 seemed to cool everyone off (or maybe it was because the sun went down? Nah, it was Jerry).
A magical show indeed! All at their best, great sound, Tiger & Modulus combination one of the best! Phil and the baroque trip!! Wish it never ended.
This whole show was at Christopher Hazard's, as usual the sweetest visual upgrade, this one seems like a clip of that. Lemioux and the management should collaborate & bring out the catalogue.
Whattaband!!!!
Present at this show 🎉in the taper section 😢RIP jerry and brent✌️✨️👏🇺🇲
arriving in synch. perfect timing one more time - hallelujah hatrack
May lady lullaby sing plainly for you too Jerry RIP
My favorite song of all time
So why can't I find this full concert. And songs like Deal which was a rippin performance, is no longer on YT. Its a real bummer. I'm sure if I follow the money I'll have my answer
I was at this show!
Me too!
No band needs two drummers. Including the Dead.
Jon Mayer could do this better
Sarcasm is fun
Route 1 was amazing during that run. To be 17 again & buying my first 🎈. Wish I'd understood what it all meant back then. Thank you so much for posting this.
the ending of this song starting @ 5:53 is incredible. They broke into fusion jazz sort of but it's still that GD sound.
Hunters lyrics have a bit of yoda lilt in their delivery. Jerry knows which syllables to stress
⚡💀⚡
Poof... I'm gone...
love those Bobby -pins 😅
IWT not my last show but it was the last magical show for me
My first Dead show...I was hooked!

Great show....had such a blast ✌️😎
Sublime, fantastical, amazing 🫠
Where we should go, we just ride.
Bob in his Florida wear👍
Wicked
Jesus is the way, the truth, the life.
He is but we can still jam out
Hey look, it's the amazing Jerry and his backup band!
Not
Sometimes I just feel like the drummers push without song nuance or swing.
Oh wow, we haven’t seen this a million times or anything 🙄
Look up what Bob Wier did to Vince. It’s really bad. You will never want to listen to the crap again. They are ruthless pieces of …….. yep - all about money
Seens theres something 's wrong with the instrumentation...a bit off
Amazing
