    I have a 2011 Elantra. I went to the local Hyundai dealer to get some other service done, and to address that noise. They said they couldn't find where the noise was coming from!!! REALLY??? IT'S YOUR CAR!!! 🤦‍♀️

      Its not a isolated problem the dealer should know there is issues with these engines by now.

    Currently have this car. If I'm right, it seems like if I was to take it to a dealership they would do some maintenance and upkeep but nothing is going to fix the ticking unless we eventually replace the engine. Correct me if I am wrong with that. We always do our own at home oil changes every 5,000-7,000 miles as well as change the filter as recommended. We also keep up on all other maintenance. Car is in good shape and we intend to drive it into the ground. Replacing this engine is cheaper than buying a new car at this point for us. This was a first time car purchase a few years ago for my husband and we will absolutely never buy a Hyundai again. Tons of recalls, lawsuits and problems. Definitely will do more research the next time we buy a car.

    I had Hyundai evaluate my 2013 elantra a few years ago for this noise, they said it wasnt piston slap and instead replaced a shifter-related gasket for an "abnormal noise." Few years later after the car has sat during covid as I'm working from home and the noise is worse than ever dead of winter on a cold start, exactly what the lawsuit protects for and describes. I have another evaluation next week and now they're saying if everything aligns with what I'm saying, no problem they will put in the claim to Hyundai. If hyundai rejects the claim or the dealership does a shit job evaluating, like if they just pop the hood and have a listen and dont hear what all my audio files have caught, then they will hold me responsible for the $160 diagnostics fee. I swear to God, if they pull anything this 2nd time around to try and say the noise I'm hearing isnt what this video showed, I'm going to flip my shit in front of everyone at the dealership. 🙄😭 wish me luck.

    Bought this car used for my daughter. It started having seizures and died while she was going down the interstate at 70 mph. Although we have spent THOUSANDS fixing this pos, No one has told us that it’s a piston issue but it has the exact things going wrong with it that are in the lawsuit. we live in a warm weather state and it has never been in a cold-weather state. This car is not safe to drive it literally will die while she’s driving down the road. I guess we’re screwed on the class action suit

    Keep using that water viscosity oil aka 5w20. These engines aren’t made well and cannot handle the wear caused by the thin oils. 180k on my 2011 running 5w40 original engine. The thicker oil helps cushion the cylinder walls caused by the offset crankshaft that Hyundai designed

      Some of these knocker engines have ridiculous piston to wall clearance when cold. You can rock them in the bore by hand with a "tick-tock" sound. Junk.

    I brought mine to Hyundai and they said there wasn't any noise. So I recorded the noise with my phone and my mileage. My milage is 139,000. And from what I read, the extended warranty only covers to 140,000. Car has started randomly stalling.

      @@death2292 the dealer filed a case with Hyundai USA and had my car for about a week. Gave me a good loaner in the meantime, but unfortunately Hyundai wouldn’t cover it. My mechanic stopped pricing it out at $6200 and called me because he knew I wouldn’t want to do it. Best bet is a new car, or drive it until it seizes and dies. Just a FYI, I’m in MN and I filed a separate case on my own too that got denied. Before you bring it in, call Hyundai, and file a case.

  • @seanpinson9030
    @seanpinson9030 2 года назад +2

    I have a 2016 and its just starting and it's worse when cold. Truth be told even after they replace the short block let it warm up to operating temperature even in the summer if you don't it will happen again and I swear I will never buy a hyundai again even if it lasts 100000000 miles. The reason this happens is that when the engine is cold the pistons shrink and leave clearance in the block then when it gets warm the pistons swell to the right size and it goes away but if you constantly just start and go eventually it won't go away anymore and if your warranty is up you are gonna have to replace the engine so let these pieces of shit warm up even if it's 90 outside or you will have this problem

    • @zzoinks

      Maybe using an engine warmer that plugs into the wall, if that is an option, would help the engine last longer.
