Your character came from a bleak future where time ceased to flow and Dialga reverted to a primal, bestial form. You end up saving it and him, subverting that future, and cease to exist, your partner forced to watch you fade away.
That's cool but I think the song sounds awfully intimidating just in general... really love it
I love all the references to time as a concept in this song. You are climbing the tower that conceptualizes time itself and you hear the cranking of a watch being drawn up, bells like on a bell tower, the ticking of clocks, a very rythmic tune, almost like time ticking on and all that with the very limited sound the Nintendo DS could produce. Whoever made the music has my undying respect.
Gotta love that taste of revenge when you or the partner Pikachu finally learns Discharge and can dish it back at the Porygons.

This is one of my favorite songs from my favorite Pokémon game. The fact that the Area Zero theme in scarlet and violet contains parts of this song in it immediately made me love s and v more. I guess the background repeating melody in this game is now officially the “Pokémon time travel” motif.

@@sourlemon1002 It starts at 1:02 in the Area Zero Theme. The little tune is actually present throughout the whole song but starting at 1:02 it uses the exact same instrument as in temporal tower. The tune itself isn't quite the same but it's very similar.

I have a VIVID recollection of trading some shitty gamecube game to a friend in like the 3rd grade for a copy of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness. He moved away before I could give it back to him, but I will never forget the time that I spent with this game. It's one of the few games I have ever played that I will classify as a MASTERPIECE. The soundtrack? Insane. 8-Bit Music Theory has a vid breaking down some of the soundtrack, and he does it justice. I still have some of the tracks on my playlist. The gameplay itself? Addictive. It's the Roguelite formula that most people are familiar with these days, but with Pokemon. It's constantly repeatable. I have the game on an Emulator on my Phone and I play it on my lunch breaks at work. The story? Despite being a Pokemon game, and some might argue, aimed towards younger children, the developments are refreshingly mature, and the characters are excellently written. (The finale falls a little short, but the journey to get there is incredible.)
All in all, I can't recommend these games to people ENOUGH.

I agree. I just emulated the game to play it for the first time, and the game was amazing. I do agree that the ending fell a little flat, but I loved it, and teared up when Groovyle left back to the future. The game is amazing, but I don't know which PMD game is the best...

You know what's interesting? This song has a very "Klonoa" vibe to it, like I can imagine hearing this in a Klonoa game on the DS. This is an odd coincidence since the first game has a protagonist who "disappears" when the game is beaten, except now the one who knows the truth is the protagonist and has to hide it from thier partner.

If they do make a new Mystery Dungeon now, it's possible they'll skip right to Scarlet/Violet.
Which I think I'd be okay with. I just hope the story is good and that the partner is wonderful. Those are the things that decide a Mystery Dungeon's fate for me.
