    sadly, Tuned isn't enough to pay the bills, so I had to get a day job. Working 50 hours a week at a day job puts a major delay on the filming process, but I'm working hard in order to get back to filming as soon as possible. Thanks for understanding.

      I totally agree with what you are saying. But, didn't he build the vette in stages? That's usually the way most of us do it, but he tends to be able to go from 0 to dream build faster than most of us. My point is that, maybe, his 'vette was only tunde at the time of this video?

    • @MichaelCoolGuy86
      @MichaelCoolGuy86 6 лет назад +4

      I don't think he meant that literally, obviously. He meant that most cars are subdued and need to have their potentials "unlocked". His Corvette was "unlocked" with his tuning, whereas the Audi was also "unlocked" with a tune.

    Matt, I totally agree with the philosophy of tuning a car to it's potential without going overboard. I own a Magnum SRT8 and have done (IMHO) just that. Engine puts out a "modest" 450hp/460tq to the wheels, bigger brakes, and added one of the biggest original omissions, a LSD!
    Externally, added a vinyl strip on the C pillar to keep the continuity of the window profile, painted the nose a matte black where a slight depression exists, and spacers to get the stock wheels properly positioned.

  • @warpspeeed

    Yes, it's pretty underpowered for the chassis it has.But i think we have seen the last of this kind.
    New turbo motors are coming and all these shortcomings will be remedied.
    With a 2 liter they can safely produce 300 Hp and 400 Nm while with with something like a 2.4-2.5 they can reach the 400Hp and 500Nm mark easily.

    I dont know about your olfactory perception, but I would say that getting rid of a nasty smell from your car is priceless. One winter somebody fucked up and spilled half a milk jug in my car. At first the smell was liveable, but once spring began to set in, the higher temperatures turned that milk into cheese, of the french, mouldy variety. You could smell it from outside the car.
    3 days, the interior stripped down to the bare shell, knuckles shredded from washing the carpet. Totally worth it!

      dany1441 Hardly.. The Cayman GTS with PDK will not be left in the dust by anyone on the street if the driver knows how to drive, in fact that goes for the manual too. Also the Porsche is all about luxury and just isn't for the masses.

      @HakeemKazak 9 лет назад +1

      dany1441 why is that wrong? You can't have it all... Some cars like a GT86, Cayman, etc are meant to be driven for their handling and their balance. Having extra torque is fun, but I would take a slower better handling car over a faster car any day of the week. While driving experiences vary and are clearly subjective, cars like the Golf R never really excite me on the road, the power novelty wears off really quickly.

    Great episode. Matt, what you said was right on about what's is too much for a street car. I took me several cars and some age to realize this as I'm sure it did you. Hilarious when you got in the passenger side, I could totally see myself doing that lol.

    That was great! Two of the best car journalists together in one video!

    It also depends a little on where you live and how crowded the roads tend to be. In California it is difficult to exceed 100mph without being arrested and having your car impounded. Unless you venture out in the wee hours on Hwy 280. That is why I love a car that sounds wonderful from idle to 150 mph. Porsche Cayman R.

    Matt getting into the correct side of the car and then Chris mocking him was great. These two play off their differences very well. Great episode

    Here in Los Angeles, I see 20, 30, 40 year old cars on the road every day from America, Europe, and Japan.

    Chris now go to California and drive matt's c5 corvette! Curious to know out of all three (tuned s4, stock cayman, tuned c5 coupe) what's the most fun per dollar. C5!

    Totally agree the obsession with big numbers is pointless. On our roads less is more you have more fun taking something a little under powered and taking it to its limits than wafting along in a big three figured car. Thats not to say of course that basic tuning isn't a good idea but only where its needed. More power+chassis competence=Bored faster. Depending on the weight of vehicle 300HP on our uk roads is plenty. I remember having great fun in a little 1.1 106 & frustrated in an Ibiza cupra

    Yeah, me too. They should've running a camera when they were out in the pub last night. On the other hand: These - I think you can call 'em RUclips Stars - are so popular and giving us great videos for free every week, they deserve some time off cam.

    As an owner of a vintage red Audi Turbo Quattro Avant ('Estate'), you should have both. Some days you need to haul a lot of gear quickly, and some days you need to not brake before corners.

    I literally just typed an s4 vs a Cayman and you two fine fellows had, of course , thought of it. You must do more videos together since in case I get to searching more crazy videos.

    Chris for the love of God, clean up that Audi.
    I spent like six hours cleaning up my little brother's Subaru Outback H6 as a present for him since he got his license. It used to be my mom's, then it was mine, then it was my dad's, and now it's his. It's got 135,000 miles on it; it hadn't been cleaned inside or out in about 10,000 miles. We keep our cars tidy, but it had started getting unclean.
    Six good hours of cleaning and a Shop-Vac would do wonders for that car.

    Reallly great video, they should do more videos together in the UK and explore really good questions like they did in this video.
