personal tip post 9 month launch easy way to get legendary armor(cheap and rather cruel in some terms) is beat all the chapters, save up 20k miriam and spend on a legend upgrade for a captain that drops the armor you want and equip on a captain that would be expendable to u, and here comes the less then stellar part kill said captain. sure its mean but automatic legendary plus a chance he comes back so there's that.
I recruited a dark tribe assassin, and equipped him with a poison dagger and a caragor mount. He is a rare only, but he us destroying epic captains 3 levels higher than him. I also have a olog-hai and a couple others reinforce him.
the store is still there in a way, but the micro transactions are gone, you can still get a few things with miriam, but its no were near as bad as it was before

Good tips. I just started today, and only used mirian to unlock gem slots. The best part of the game so far is when you think you're about to take out one tough captain and then another tougher captain shows up - and possibly another one on top of that. The first time I died, an orc named "Dush" killed me, and then the douche starts running his mouth.
The best tip i can think of....poison the grog then take up a vantage point, then smoke the rest of your weed. The orcs, trolls, n captains will do the rest.
How do you poison Grog? i mean i am a Doob, but all i can do i grab the poison, but after that dont give tips on Releasing it or Throwing it at ur Enemies, any tips ? TY in advance.
I always watch tip videos before I start a new game, and I must say, this was one of the best. This video was very well thought out. The tips are all very helpful and insightful, whereas most tip videos have some "tips" that are obvious like "don't forget to save!" Or something about combat that the game already tells you how to do. Thank you for the quality content. I don't get much time to game anymore, so stuff like this that helps me make the most of my games really means a lot to me. I hope you keep growing. You deserve to be able to continue doing this for a living.
While beginning I fought this terrifying looking orc and I was scared to get close to him. I got his health down and I wanted to try out that fire move with the bow and arrow. He burned to death. Later on I decided to hunt down an orc outside the city walls but guess who was waiting for me. The same ORC! Half of his body was scorched! Sad thing is he was surprisingly weaker than he was and I was able to kill him easily. But I was so shocked how intelligent this game was. Currently I keep getting found by an orc that won’t stop cheating death.
One time I killed a guy with fire, but he came back WAY stronger, and he became legendary! He wrecked me first time I refought him, but then I killed him.
I am level 46 and I have this fortress with like level 40 orcs but they aren’t legendary or epic just regular. I can’t for the life of me get higher ones or find better ones. I feel stuck and getting money is so hard it feels like. Literally beat the game and have all fortresses but I have less then 1,000 coins or what ever they are called. I feel like restarting and saving my money. I feel lost. Ontop of all of that it’s so slow to level up.
@@christianking7342 My advice for levels are to forge better wealth gems. You can get like up to a 15% xp boost. As for the money, try challenges and pit fights. One time reward in the pit fight awarded me like 4000 for my Uruks win. Save up your gear and destroy them for that extra money too
oh that game is one of my favorites, I played the last title: shadow of mordor, and I enjoyed it A LOT! I have spent over 50 hours playing it and it was just so immersive, it had a unique characteristic, some times you find yourself the one who knocks, and other times you are surrounded by 30 orcs including archers and you get crushed but you some how manages to save your life and escape this horrible situation, you will do missions in the land of the evil using stealth and deceit, but if you got caught, then you will be in your own, oh that game brings me a hell lots of memories
First time I played SoW, very early on, I got an undying orc. An excellent rival. After he came back the 3rd time, I was actually pissed and made it my mission to kill him once and for all. I finally killed him after relentlessly hunting him over and over. I couldn't even tell you how many times he came back. I remember that when he died I exploited something, that caused him to explode. It's fucking weird. As soon as I learned the significance of the undying trait, I felt really bad about killing him. I never found another undying orc either.
Idk if you're still playing this or not but this little bit of information may be helpful to you if you are. Once you die to the same orc multiple times it becomes more likely that that particular orc will cheat death multiple times as well. Just thought I'd let you know in case you wanted to give it a shot.
@@IanT372 yeah I've tried to manipulate it into happening again, but haven't been able to get it to work. I've been thinking about doing another playthrough lately, so I'll probably try again. I came close the last time.
@@IanT372 I think I accidentally made the game bring back bruz. after his final mission, I immediately hunted him down and shamed him over and over. a few hours later, I came back and killed him. guess all the shamings were enough to make the game decide that his story didn't end with the killing. now he's back.
As a beginner doing the brutality mode I can say I think i have already experienced the best of the nemesis system, even though I haven't beaten my first fortress. I've gotten alot of ugly spear guys being promoted to captain since I started.
Try picking off orc war chiefs to make fortress taking easier. To make the easier dominate the war chiefs body guards and make them become spies and you should get the rest on as you play
@@eternallight9559 don't worry I an now lvl 40. I am actually pretty good.The first place took a while but I got through it. Now I am wrecking everywhere. I'll admit the spear guys can still 4 shot me though.
@@chosen3713 I try to stay uncrowded. They can do a lot of damage when your surrounded. Anyway good to know that you're improving because for some people this is quite difficult on nemesis difficulty or harder. I'm trying to dominate all the legendaries I can so when I'm a high level I can kill them and enjoy the rewards

First tip above all, before you start...change sensitivity to something you're comfortable with. Then change your analog dead zone (less bar is quicker reaction) is makes it so your character doesnt feel heavy, kind of like assassins creed heavy.
What do you mean by this? I just got the game and it's been a little overwhelming. Are you saying set it on highest difficulty? And how do you get enemy captains to kill each other?
@@fangman21 step one, go to options and set difficulty to gravewalker. Step two, start missions that have enemy captains dueling, raiding, execution each other. Step 3, let them kill each other. Don't engage. You will get Xp from missions. Step 4. Rinse repeat = profit.

Thank you very much! I just picked this game up for under 6 dollars and I love it. I played Shadow of Mordor back then but not this one. There's is much great stuff in the Nemesis system and it's a shame that the game initially suffered under microtransaction bullshit, but they have removed that now. The only in-game currency is "Mirian" now and you earn that through playing. I think this iteration is as close to how the game should have been back then.
Jeez I must have been a true badass because I'm getting my balls smashed in the "hold the gate" mission. I've died more times here on this mission on nemesis then I've died in the entire game total.
I'm a bit late but I just wanted to say that I've never played any middle earth games before but when I bought Shadow Of War, I immediately started with Gravewalker difficulty. Died a few times at the start, but once I got the hang of the nemesis and combat system, I completely wrecked every orc and by the time I was level 40, I was still in act 1, in Minas Ithil because I didn't do anything with the quests as I was confused as to what I had to do so I just kinda killed every orc Captain I found lol
On level 35 with talion .. I just got started with the game really. If you like LOTR story style you will love this game.. You fight immersive characters orcs trolls bulrogs Wraiths Dragons drakes charagors -orc dogs .. The story is amazing well done so far very true to the Peter Jackson universe .. Its assassins creed with the powers of a immortal elf and one of the rings of power .. Still a great game as of Feb 2023 even my wife likes to watch it!!!
Rush story missions till your at the last one at gorgoroth (not gonna tell the name of the mission cuz spoilers)the game and some characters will Ask if your ready for it. Then After that it the end game stuff,just don't rush end game that all
Severed an orcs arm, he came back with a rock and metal one calling himself "the machine", killed him by cutting him in half (like Darth maul) he came back again, with more metal and rock, I'm not even mad, I'm just sad for him
I just picked this up on Steam, SoW and SoM both were bundled on sale 85% off so it was $10. After playing it for a half hour or so I have to say I'm glad I got it. But damn 100 g download is insane, I got two 1t hard drives so it wasn't a big deal but if you got a small hard drive or just SSD drives that have less space it could be a problem because that 100 g is just SoW not both games together
beginner using nemesis mode since i love a challenge but g damn, when theres 30+ orcs scrapping me & 3 captains plus a drake & some caragors, well then thats a party. promoted a few orcs already and im at 14 hrs gameplay lmfao. this game is amazing. get it.
I got this game a while ago from the PS Plus subscription and I’ve been playing it like crazy it’s pretty good and there’s a crap ton of thing to do so it’s kinda hard to get bored.
Just bought Shadow of War on PS4 due to it having a huge discount (huge for the PSN Store!) and now only being £15.99. I played Shadow of Mordor and really enjoyed it, so now I can crack on with this interesting sequel.
Watched a video before basically with the same stuff u are saying and i couldn't follow it at all. But i watch your video and its... calming to watch and I easily understand. Wtf lol. Must be your beautiful voice. Cheers for the heads up about everything. Time to boot up this game and finally play
I'm a beginner and instantly chose brutal difficulty 😅 i died a lot learning the controls and now most the Captains are now over lvl 10 to 40 while I'm still at 3

Lool i never played any of these games and i just started today. I automatically put it on gravewalker difficulty and ill be honest its a bit hard but anyone should beable to do it just fine.it will make easy and normal feel soo fun cuz u can just step om the dudes

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the fortresses you conquer in single player versus online? Do they use the same orks or it's basically totally different?
I cannot get started in this game. No matter what I do I’m always spotted and as soon as I am I’m fighting infinite orcs until I die. There’s no avoiding them or winning
Stick at it. It's a quality game. Try being a bit more stealthy, creeping around, and when you can't go unnoticed just run! 😂 You unlock abilities, stronger weapons and other additional power ups fairly quickly so don't worry about the difficulty at the moment and keep playing.
Replaying for the unth time, cant remember, should i play the DLC content 1st? Do they unlock the other orc tribes and gear/skill options? Or does it matter?
During a siege. I fought the overlord and recruited him. Which seemed to work. But when I checked my army he was no where to be seen... can I recruit enemy overlords? Or is this a horrible glitch?
If you get an option to recruit a defeated orc and don't get him after, this means that you must have done an Online Vendetta or in your case Online Siege. If it wasn't, then you got a nasty bug/glitch indeed.
I like grinding for most games; some games, like sports games, don't like grinding but for rpg's like this...grinding is what I enjoy. I spent 100+ hrs in the first city in this game just grinding away and didn't bore me at all. Played on Normal the whole time, then when I finally left, I put it on the hardest setting and played until my heart was content, and I beat the game, too, of course. I didn't like "Shadow of Mordor", while that game was a grind, it wasn't a fun grind like 'Shadow' was.
Be choosy on who you recruit.. keep the Arrow-proof/un-shadow-strikable recruits for castle defense... shadow strike is easy mode. Also dont forget to assign bodyguards.
Watching your video has sparked the joy of spawning rng orcs and I thank you for that. I wish you well in the pursuit of educating people that games can be as good as movies. If not better.
A video much like this one did the same thing for me a couple weeks ago. So I continued an old campaign of mine and ended up having an encounter I had never had before. I was in the middle of hunting down one particular orc captain when I got ambushed by an old orc follower captain who had died in a fortress defense. He cheated death and betrayed me but it's no sweat right? Just two orc captains to take out... Until three of my current orc captains decided to start a rebellion and attack me at the same time. I went from curb stomping an single orc hunter to absolutely running, jumping, climbing, shooting, slashing, and dashing for my life! It took me nearly 25 minutes to get all 5 of them taken down but man it was fun! I'll never understand why WB created such an amazing and immersive system, patent and copyright it (so no one else could use it or a facsimile of it) then just shelve it and never use it again. Such wasted potential!
Side note if you do lose caption in spot. You colud get the same urk!. With same name!. Later one with better skills. My favorite urk is the singer shocked but he slays and has good enrages now. But in the beginning he was weak to so much.
I dont agree with starting on easy...start it on hardest mode. Early fights in hard mode will get your blood flowing! If you dont die a LOT in this game, you arent challenging yourself. As far as skills, build straight to that Auto-loot skill rather early, its worth it.
I only played like 10 hours of SOM few years back. I started on Nemesis difficulty on SOW and did just fine. I would have to recommend only playing on Nemesis and above so you can get the most out of the Nemesis System.
If you're going to play this game, be prepared for the worst game play mechanics on the market. The laundry list of "I didn't press that button" and "why did Talion just do the OPPOSITE of what I want?" is long and frustrating. The game's programmers admit it's one of the worst and they've tried patching as much as possible, but they've since given up and moved on to other projects. You're going to get pissed off at this title on the PS4 platform. Too many glitches, sudden changes mid-battle, and character movements you didn't input. One article even admits they put a logic algorithm in the "brutal" difficulty that literally IGNORES your inputs on a random basis just to make the game harder in a cheap way. Basically a "full retard" mode where you won't be ALLOWED to defend yourself because the controls aren't allowed to listen, and your opponents will suddenly just "disappear" mid-fight and get relocated elsewhere far away to prevent you from defeating them. The programmers designed the "full retard" as a test patch for a group of players just to see if they'd get mad and quit, but they actually stuck with it to overcome the game anyway. So they decided to make the random "dead stick" controls a permanent part of the BRUTAL setting. I literally had to quit playing for a while to save my gear from being physically destroyed.
Get a marauder fortress, 3 mirian stashes will be placed inside automatically, next is the matter if you want to keep advancing day to get 150 mirian every A.D (i gave up after my beloved gambler died to overgrown cats)
4:54 does that mean I should save the Mirian by not purchasing any gem slots as well, or do the wealth gems offer enough advantages to justify the purchase, if you want to maximize Mirian?

If your trying to get mirian fast then I suggest that you do the fight pits in act 2 when you own the fort and sell the gear you get from the pits

Thank you very much! I just picked this game up for under 6 dollars and I love it. I played Shadow of Mordor back then but not this one. There's is much great stuff in the Nemesis system and it's a shame that the game initially suffered under microtransaction bullshit, but they have removed that now. The only in-game currency is "Mirian" now and you earn that through playing. I think this iteration is as close to how the game should have been back then.
Jeez I must have been a true badass because I'm getting my balls smashed in the "hold the gate" mission. I've died more times here on this mission on nemesis then I've died in the entire game total.

I'm a bit late but I just wanted to say that I've never played any middle earth games before but when I bought Shadow Of War, I immediately started with Gravewalker difficulty. Died a few times at the start, but once I got the hang of the nemesis and combat system, I completely wrecked every orc and by the time I was level 40, I was still in act 1, in Minas Ithil because I didn't do anything with the quests as I was confused as to what I had to do so I just kinda killed every orc Captain I found lol
On level 35 with talion .. I just got started with the game really. If you like LOTR story style you will love this game.. You fight immersive characters orcs trolls bulrogs Wraiths Dragons drakes charagors -orc dogs .. The story is amazing well done so far very true to the Peter Jackson universe .. Its assassins creed with the powers of a immortal elf and one of the rings of power .. Still a great game as of Feb 2023 even my wife likes to watch it!!!

Severed an orcs arm, he came back with a rock and metal one calling himself "the machine", killed him by cutting him in half (like Darth maul) he came back again, with more metal and rock, I'm not even mad, I'm just sad for him

I just picked this up on Steam, SoW and SoM both were bundled on sale 85% off so it was $10. After playing it for a half hour or so I have to say I'm glad I got it. But damn 100 g download is insane, I got two 1t hard drives so it wasn't a big deal but if you got a small hard drive or just SSD drives that have less space it could be a problem because that 100 g is just SoW not both games together

beginner using nemesis mode since i love a challenge but g damn, when theres 30+ orcs scrapping me & 3 captains plus a drake & some caragors, well then thats a party. promoted a few orcs already and im at 14 hrs gameplay lmfao. this game is amazing. get it.

I'm a beginner and instantly chose brutal difficulty 😅 i died a lot learning the controls and now most the Captains are now over lvl 10 to 40 while I'm still at 3
Great advice. Sadly I’ve been grinding for some time now and really didn’t need to. I’m just going to push through the game until I actually need to grind.
Don't hold on to Legendary and epic ork minions. You are missing out on the gear. Plus it seems to deal out a fixed amount of those ork types.

Lool i never played any of these games and i just started today. I automatically put it on gravewalker difficulty and ill be honest its a bit hard but anyone should beable to do it just fine.it will make easy and normal feel soo fun cuz u can just step om the dudes
Although I'm new to the series, I totally went for the harder difficulty (Brutal, I think is called). I died a number of times, but im sticking with it.
Brutal is a lot of fun, because it allows you to use special attacks more often - it builds your might a lot quicker :)
started my third playthrough of the game two days ago on 'Gravewalker' difficulty...BLOOOOOODDDDDDY HEEEEEELLLL THAT SHIT IS HAAAAAARRRRRDDDDDDD!! but so SATISFYING as well!
Ride a Caragor then farm gems especially white ones by sneak mauling treasure orks.
Faster than foot, instant kills, and quick escape.
Some tip for steam users -disable steam overlay ( for some reason it can slow down the game)

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the fortresses you conquer in single player versus online? Do they use the same orks or it's basically totally different?
Its been a year but yes they are different. Online sieges practically has player chosen overlords. Rather than randomly generated ones
I cannot get started in this game. No matter what I do I’m always spotted and as soon as I am I’m fighting infinite orcs until I die. There’s no avoiding them or winning
Stick at it. It's a quality game. Try being a bit more stealthy, creeping around, and when you can't go unnoticed just run! 😂
You unlock abilities, stronger weapons and other additional power ups fairly quickly so don't worry about the difficulty at the moment and keep playing.
And here I was doing online vendettas at level 15...

Replaying for the unth time, cant remember, should i play the DLC content 1st? Do they unlock the other orc tribes and gear/skill options? Or does it matter?
During a siege. I fought the overlord and recruited him. Which seemed to work. But when I checked my army he was no where to be seen... can I recruit enemy overlords? Or is this a horrible glitch?
If you get an option to recruit a defeated orc and don't get him after, this means that you must have done an Online Vendetta or in your case Online Siege. If it wasn't, then you got a nasty bug/glitch indeed.
I like grinding for most games; some games, like sports games, don't like grinding but for rpg's like this...grinding is what I enjoy. I spent 100+ hrs in the first city in this game just grinding away and didn't bore me at all. Played on Normal the whole time, then when I finally left, I put it on the hardest setting and played until my heart was content, and I beat the game, too, of course. I didn't like "Shadow of Mordor", while that game was a grind, it wasn't a fun grind like 'Shadow' was.
Just started putting in the time on this game. Also love this combat. Similar to AC and spiderman. Any other games have similar mechanics

Be choosy on who you recruit.. keep the Arrow-proof/un-shadow-strikable recruits for castle defense... shadow strike is easy mode. Also dont forget to assign bodyguards.
Still playing it it’s great, completed it 100% 2 times both under 30hrs

Watching your video has sparked the joy of spawning rng orcs and I thank you for that. I wish you well in the pursuit of educating people that games can be as good as movies. If not better.
A video much like this one did the same thing for me a couple weeks ago. So I continued an old campaign of mine and ended up having an encounter I had never had before. I was in the middle of hunting down one particular orc captain when I got ambushed by an old orc follower captain who had died in a fortress defense. He cheated death and betrayed me but it's no sweat right? Just two orc captains to take out... Until three of my current orc captains decided to start a rebellion and attack me at the same time. I went from curb stomping an single orc hunter to absolutely running, jumping, climbing, shooting, slashing, and dashing for my life! It took me nearly 25 minutes to get all 5 of them taken down but man it was fun!
I'll never understand why WB created such an amazing and immersive system, patent and copyright it (so no one else could use it or a facsimile of it) then just shelve it and never use it again. Such wasted potential!

Side note if you do lose caption in spot. You colud get the same urk!. With same name!. Later one with better skills. My favorite urk is the singer shocked but he slays and has good enrages now. But in the beginning he was weak to so much.
I dont agree with starting on easy...start it on hardest mode. Early fights in hard mode will get your blood flowing! If you dont die a LOT in this game, you arent challenging yourself. As far as skills, build straight to that Auto-loot skill rather early, its worth it.
I only played like 10 hours of SOM few years back. I started on Nemesis difficulty on SOW and did just fine. I would have to recommend only playing on Nemesis and above so you can get the most out of the Nemesis System.

If you're going to play this game, be prepared for the worst game play mechanics on the market. The laundry list of "I didn't press that button" and "why did Talion just do the OPPOSITE of what I want?" is long and frustrating. The game's programmers admit it's one of the worst and they've tried patching as much as possible, but they've since given up and moved on to other projects. You're going to get pissed off at this title on the PS4 platform. Too many glitches, sudden changes mid-battle, and character movements you didn't input. One article even admits they put a logic algorithm in the "brutal" difficulty that literally IGNORES your inputs on a random basis just to make the game harder in a cheap way. Basically a "full retard" mode where you won't be ALLOWED to defend yourself because the controls aren't allowed to listen, and your opponents will suddenly just "disappear" mid-fight and get relocated elsewhere far away to prevent you from defeating them. The programmers designed the "full retard" as a test patch for a group of players just to see if they'd get mad and quit, but they actually stuck with it to overcome the game anyway. So they decided to make the random "dead stick" controls a permanent part of the BRUTAL setting. I literally had to quit playing for a while to save my gear from being physically destroyed.

Get a marauder fortress, 3 mirian stashes will be placed inside automatically, next is the matter if you want to keep advancing day to get 150 mirian every A.D (i gave up after my beloved gambler died to overgrown cats)

I conquered one of the fortresses already but when I go to the other fortresses to attack my army is just gone

4:54 does that mean I should save the Mirian by not purchasing any gem slots as well, or do the wealth gems offer enough advantages to justify the purchase, if you want to maximize Mirian?
