Brave Sir Robin ran away Bravely ran away away When danger reared its ugly head He bravely turned his tail and fled Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about And gallantly he chickened out Bravely taking to his feet He beat a very brave retreat Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin!
Get 'throwing daggers' as soon as possible. Then you can sprint to get space from a mob, and pepper them with the daggers to keep them at bay and raise your consecutive hit streak and get an execute. Plus the daggers are limitless. They also work great against the ghuls.
I started playing this again and got a bit in to remember how to play and started over again, now i got all the artifacts and most of the legends i could get on the first part, before i even killed the first war-chief and already have most of the second tear except for the quest skills forgot about this game loved it then gonna play shadow of war next never played that one thoe haha.
i picked this up a couple days ago. the first hour or so was great but now im, getting my butt kicked. im on like the 4th mission and already fighting powerful warchiefs, thats crazy.
Yeah that would be pretty good - we'll see what future games bring but thanks to the new films we have a few more Star Wars games to come in the future so you never know!
You'd think "don't die" would be more obvious. Now I've gotten a grunt all the way up to level 7 just from dying twice, and accidentally helping him in a duel XD
Engaged the first captain I saw, right after the opening cutscene and got mauled by a nearby caragor. The captain got the credit for my death and has just been popping up everywhere in a huge crowd of orcs and killing me. After a few deaths he was invulnerable to melee and finishers (combat master). I'd stun him, flurry, and stun him before the end of the flurry, rinse and repeat and he'd literally lose no health. Long story short he got to level 20 by the time I finally managed to sneak up on him and exploit his stealth weakness. I see people giving you a bunch of crap about the don't die instruction. But it's important to reinforce that if you get greedy and don't run away when you've spent your last chance in a huge crowd of enemies, one of these guys might end up a massive pain in your ass.
i went on to learn about every captain i had in game, i killed the ones that take no dmg from bow or stealth and i rose everyone who take lots of dmg by those two means so it would be easy to kill them, and i helped them rise their ranks, makes the game easy when you have 15-20 captains alive on level 18-20 and they can be all one-shoted if you can stealth your way to their backs, it gets tricky if you send a death threat to them and they become invincible to all kind of dmg, plus all the followers they get
Yeah, I have one spear dude titled "bone collector" that killed me as a grunt in my first few hours, then I went for revenge and got killed again (this repeated about 4 times), and now he's immune to like everything... It's fucking wild bc I'm about mid-story and he's more powerful than half of the warchiefs I have to deal with
Lmao I can't count how many Uruk's got a promotion because I would single mindedly try to butcher a different captain 🤦🏻. Almost get there and then someone inevitably snakes me from behind 😂
What sucks about this game is you can't look up certain gameplay to defeat certain warchiefs, the game is so overwhelming with the fighting you'll start with 5 Uruk coming at you then end up trying to fight 30 more with 3 Captains as well :/ thanks for the advice though it helps a lot.
I loved this game for a week. Then hack, slash and dodge until your dizzy. Repetive is an understatement. I don't like how long you have to work for little rewards upgrades and other things to make it interesting. I gave up on it and have not touched it since.
Don't know if you already know this by now but, Caragors (the "dogs" you fight) are actualy cats, they were supposed to be akin to Lions just like Wargs are to wolfs.
As you gain runes (killing captains) you gain more ways to gain health. When I started to play this game I did not do main missions but instead I hunted down captains in order to learn the mechanics and earned gaining health from stealth kills (later on I pretty much got health bonuses for everything lol). Something I discovered is that the parry button sometimes is a bit delayed so I made it my habit to not look at the triangle button but rather press triangle when enemies are about to attack you (you won't see it anyway when you are poisoned). The dodge button is also a bit delayed, it takes a fraction of a second before he actually jumps so it can help to jump prematurely. And finally some of the weapon side missions are ridiculously hard... if you want the bonus in the pit fight (sword) you might want to get the "resist a attack before the combo reset" upgrade, and do not even try the ghoul lair mission (sword) without "fire arrows" upgrade.
IRrebel3 My issues not with the triangle counters, but with the big guys you can only dodge and hit from behind. Just one of them makes my whole flow stop lol
I understand that this is for beginners, but half of these tips were explained to full extent within the first few minutes of playing the game - parry 👍, dodge 👏, stealth kills, there is a tutorial for all of this, however there is some good information about the effects of dying on sauron's army which was useful
Reminiscent Vidss Thanks a lot for your support, I see what you mean about the tips. I made this vid to remind people how important those basic skills actually are and to not forget to perform them. Its easy to forget the early stuff when you first get a game lol (guilty on all counts myself). Appreciate your thoughts and thank you. I mean it.
no problem you're doing really well, and its a good point, you dont see videos on this information because it often is taken for granted, so making this video is good for your channel, also shadow of mordor is awesome :L
I just got this game. I LOVE IT i still haven't done ANY of the storyline and have just hunted the captain's. I am pretty much just rune farming. Its sooo much fun. Plus it gets easier the more healing runes that you get.
Nice simple tips. My problem was i got so overwhelmed because I didn't know which missions/quests to do first, and ended up getting killed A LOT. I think I'll give it another go and see what happens.
Yeah I was trying to kill a captain one time and a orc that’s wasn’t even a captain killed me and I kept on trying to kill it and failed 5x now he’s level 20 and can only take damage to bows
Thanks a lot mate! lol yeah that is a good part of the game too. Sometimes its worth letting an Uruk level up just so you can get a better Rune from him when you smite his ruin upon the mountainside! :)
Thanks a lot, glad you liked the vid and of course thanks for subscribing :) Its a tough game to get the hang of at first - wait for the second half though - game changer!
one thing to do early on is the Trail Missions. 10 Crows w/ Bows shots. 10 Stealth kills. Gather X amount of Plants. These take like 15min to finish but you get about 1k to 2k worth of Miridan
Hi, the video is made 9 years ago but its still really useful. I just bought the game and i will reply to this message as soon as i played trough for maybe a few hours
Thank you for this vid...I recently picked up SoM and began to play it. I know I'm really late to the game, but this looks like a fun game. Rock-on Dude!!! (new subscriber)
I just started this game and I’m PS3 that I haven’t turned on in 4 years lol. This gaming counsel has so many games to enjoy. I’m just going through my games and I forgot I had this one. My tv eyes have adjusted to 1080p and 4K so this looks horrible on my screen but I will peer through it. Can’t believe this game released with a max capacity of 720p 😂
Great vid. Just picked it for a few bucks in the steam sale. Battling between playing this first of ffIX...decisions decisions. Thank you for the vid though. Health first, and Ranger first. Got it.
The tutorial is truly awful in this game. You start out totally unprepared. I only survived by reading online guides and videos like this one. Makes me wonder how the first generation of players did it?
This guy was wrong about then don't die part. Its OK if you die, the Uruks might get stronger but they will also start to kill each other so they can get to the top of the chain witch means less captains
Great vid. It's been a while I didn't continue SoM. I should restart that wonderful game. I wonder why EA doesn't seem to work on a sequel. More variety in monsters and locations. Maybe a tad more narration and it should be great.
great video, tips are surely useful for new players, but personally i like dying in the game because it makes the whole saurons army screen shuffle and i think its kinda cool seeing uruks killing other uruks and how they change, still nice video
Very true FWTrump, though I reckon early on in the game its better to avoid it so you can rank up earlier yourself, later on die as much as you like to increase the chance of a decent rune :)
I hate those immune commanders, One time I have to fight 3 of those smuck with the only weakness is fire and explosion, hate those and they go rage mode when they see a Caragor, the only thing that kept me alive is that all the combat finisher I have regain my health and I am fighting huge amount of men along side these immune guys. Now I have unlocked everything they seems like some funny challenge. Right now gonna start over again :) would run bravely than die, thanks for the tip. I just always fight till the bitter end, so I'll change my pace might be a fun thing. Thanks for the tips mate :)
There is sometimes honor in what seems like cowardice lol - its like saying sometimes its honorable to lie lol. Thanks for watching and glad to have been of some help mate!
I love your voice! And your video of course. 😂 Thank you for the tips! I just started playing this game yesterday and it's fun. Sometimes it's really easy, sometimes it's not. I hate when I get overwhelmed especially when I'm closed to killing a captain but the hordes are making it difficult. D:
Thanks a lot Sahara, its a great game but very unpredictable, so easy to get overwhelmed its true. Thats when the brave running away can be useful though!
That's the one thing that bugs me about this game: it seems you can't take your time because just the passage of time alone is already your enemy as it facilitates Uruk power struggles and your opponents become more powerful all the time. Of course, I still have no idea how serious this problem is, but it does not help the mood to have this Damocles sword over your head that if you take too much time, you might face near invincible foes in the end... kinda kills the fun for me right now.
Got to be honest, it never crossed my mind to simply run away from a fight. The enemy was getting stronger and I had no idea how to stop them. Guess just run away from now haha. Thx for the tips.
Hello I just got Shadow of Mordor 2 week ago and im having trouble with the war chiefs. Do you have any tips on how to put the WarChiefs in the front of the line?
just got this game i know its late but i dont really play games like this but it seems fun, about to play tmrw thanks for the tips cause i died already lol
Nice video for some reason i just can't see the words to good on my tv and tht makes it confusing for me but id say the only thing i dnt like about this game cause i now started playing it, is the health item where you have to Run which is brave. Tht shud have been you get a pouch and can store herbs shocks. if you can do a video explaining runes etc tht wud be good thanks.
I really have to disagree with Tip #2. Maybe... maybe don't die by accident. But if you let a Captain or Warchief kill you, it'll increase the level of the Rune they drop by +1. Which is useful if you're wanting an especially powerful Rune. Now, I don't usually go for level 26 Runes, because they're only slightly better than the level 25 Runes, so I usually skip letting them kill me. But if you don't want to issue a Death Threat to a Warchief that gives you problems, then letting them kill you is a great way to get a level 25 Rune.
Brave Sir Robin ran away
Bravely ran away away
When danger reared its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin!
hahaha - finally the full song! love it - thank you akkoXD

MistahBroccoli Persevere it gets a whole lot better, the 2nd half is so different.
ive been playing with alittle more actual strategy now, seems to be working out. i think i need to level up more to get some better skills
The makers of this game should make a Star Wars game with similar combat.
Yeah that would be pretty good - we'll see what future games bring but thanks to the new films we have a few more Star Wars games to come in the future so you never know!
Quick Backhand but Jedi don't fight like this at all...
He died of cancer
I would say the makers of Witcher 3. Since signs on that game would he similar to using the force and shit.
Im reading this comment after Respawn made Jedi Fallen Order
You'd think "don't die" would be more obvious. Now I've gotten a grunt all the way up to level 7 just from dying twice, and accidentally helping him in a duel XD
I know right! well later on its not so bad as the higher the captain the better the loot when you kill them but definitely NOT at the beginning!

Yeah, it's a varying experience for every player. This was made in a broader sense, that's why the tips are pretty straight-forward.
I loved this game for a week. Then hack, slash and dodge until your dizzy. Repetive is an understatement. I don't like how long you have to work for little rewards upgrades and other things to make it interesting. I gave up on it and have not touched it since.
Mauricio Lopez exactly bro the game is so hard and complicated it was good when I started playing but rn it’s complicated af
😆😆😆😅😅😅😅😅
@Tristan Hess
Clean, clear, simple and straight to the point.I like it.Like games used to be.I'm about to boot it up for the first time.
It's not to die when 5 war chiefs pop out of no where with 40 orcs
Don't know if you already know this by now but, Caragors (the "dogs" you fight) are actualy cats, they were supposed to be akin to Lions just like Wargs are to wolfs.

I'm going through the game a second time in prep for the next installment, I kinda forgot how good this game is, pretty awesome imo.
Yeah I'm looking forward to it too!
When danger reared it's ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled.
Brave brave brave brave sir Robin. ..... lmao sorry couldn't help myself.
+pthompson108 haha - love Monty Python, but I think I was just a little braver than Sir Robin ;-)

You do mate.... and a lot better than me too.

Even though I've beaten the game almost twice now, I still find this video helpful and I definitely could've used the info before I started :)
Thanks a lot Cole :D
I’ve been fighting level 30 warcheifs at like level 14😂 I’m still killing them. Ig it’s bc I’m a dark souls player
kudos
I really appreciated this, and I thought it had excellent production value. Subscribed. I just started GOTY edition and was dying left and right.
Thanks a lot, glad you liked the vid and of course thanks for subscribing :) Its a tough game to get the hang of at first - wait for the second half though - game changer!

Great vid. Just picked it for a few bucks in the steam sale. Battling between playing this first of ffIX...decisions decisions. Thank you for the vid though. Health first, and Ranger first. Got it.
Awesome - a great game to pick up before the sequel later this year I think - have fun :D
Thanks for the tips.Great game.Nice little vid too.
joby1konobi Thanks mate
Great video. Ordered Shadow of Mordor and wanted to checkup on some quick tips so I don't just become Orc meat.
Bob Whackett Thanks mate :) hope it helps!
I "surly" do lol.
just saying but dying does is helpfull, new orcs become cap's when they kill you. so you have more chance to get epic runes
Thanks for the tips bro
Thanks mate am 6'8 now wow that actually worked!!
Hey! Awesome - very glad it helped :)
MenWhoStareAtGames lmfao it does help i was just jk😂
;-)
dying is essential. Orcs that power up on your death can be farmed for more powerful items.
Oh I agree but later in the game in my opinion, I had beginners in mind when I made this but later on yes completely agree
love it, "run away...bravely"...love that....
Great video, I just started playing the game and I am very confused on what I am supposed to do.
AloxxaS kill things
The tutorial is truly awful in this game. You start out totally unprepared. I only survived by reading online guides and videos like this one. Makes me wonder how the first generation of players did it?
Very useful and concise. Nice.
thx fo this it helped alot
No problem - glad it helped :)
Thanks, mate. Just start playing the game and I am happy to come upon your tutorial.
Reggie Darnell No problem - good luck with the game (by the way the 2nd half is a lot more fun!)
Great Tip-video. No BS or long-winded chatter - Just good, helpful info. Thanks!
Harrzack thanks mate :) no problem, glad you liked it
This guy was wrong about then don't die part. Its OK if you die, the Uruks might get stronger but they will also start to kill each other so they can get to the top of the chain witch means less captains
I only realized it was you, MWSAG, two minutes into watching the video. Great as always! Thanks.
Wow you found an old one, shows my earliest kind of vid - had so much to learn (and still do) back then!
Great Tips mate, looking forward to immersing myself in the game!
I rly appreciate this video. I just started this game yest and am lost. But it's still cool. U helped me a great deal bro....ty
Great video. Definitely helped me. I'm still early stages and hopefully I can do more Mirian missions now.
Korum Qanbar Thanks a lot man - such a good game, good luck :)
Great vid. It's been a while I didn't continue SoM. I should restart that wonderful game. I wonder why EA doesn't seem to work on a sequel. More variety in monsters and locations. Maybe a tad more narration and it should be great.
I guess to keep it from meddling with the LotR timeline.
Le gros lot ! Shadow of war
Thank You that was the best video on upgrades I seen Keep up the good work
Nate Rivers Thanks mate :)

+Daniel Kirchens Hey no problem :)
Thanks for the video, I'm late to the party and just started playing this.
No problem and have fun its such a great game!
Thanx for the video mate.

great video, tips are surely useful for new players, but personally i like dying in the game because it makes the whole saurons army screen shuffle and i think its kinda cool seeing uruks killing other uruks and how they change, still nice video
I need to run more often. thart is leveling too much lol
Good video man
rain765k Thanks a lot :)
thx fo the tips
+Chainhog Badass No problem. Glad you liked it :)
Dieing isn't really that much of a problem and infact can be more helpful in the long run (higher level runes when you do finally kill him).
Very true FWTrump, though I reckon early on in the game its better to avoid it so you can rank up earlier yourself, later on die as much as you like to increase the chance of a decent rune :)
In late game you can let some orcs that have a certain weapon type to kill you to get specific captains get just the right captain in your squad.

Thank you for the tips!
Thx bra awsome vid
L Highchair Thanks mate :)
Another usefull tips you must know how to move left right and up down, or else you cannot progress in game
That's the one thing that bugs me about this game: it seems you can't take your time because just the passage of time alone is already your enemy as it facilitates Uruk power struggles and your opponents become more powerful all the time. Of course, I still have no idea how serious this problem is, but it does not help the mood to have this Damocles sword over your head that if you take too much time, you might face near invincible foes in the end... kinda kills the fun for me right now.

awesome tips
Thx mate!
Got to be honest, it never crossed my mind to simply run away from a fight. The enemy was getting stronger and I had no idea how to stop them. Guess just run away from now haha. Thx for the tips.
You're welcome Saphira, glad it helped :D
Hello I just got Shadow of Mordor 2 week ago and im having trouble with the war chiefs. Do you have any tips on how to put the WarChiefs in the front of the line?
just got this game i know its late but i dont really play games like this but it seems fun, about to play tmrw thanks for the tips cause i died already lol
Another good Vid , may even have to buy the game now :)
thanks for the tips it really helps a lot. this game is awesome
no problem, have fun with the game :)
thnx it will help aloy!
Amazing Error no problem glad it was useful :)
Yeah I agree I would have preferred a pouch etc like you say but I suppose it makes it different from other games!
totaly the best tips ever coming from a noob
thank you ;-)
Thanks a lot they will help me.
trevor Jenkins No probs mate
I like to die makes it more interesting personally and you kinda get fun comeback from the orcs
Death threats on captains and warchiefs raise their power and make it more difficult, but greater chance of an epic rune.
Oh I agree but later in the game in my opinion, I had beginners in mind when I made this but later on yes completely agree
THIS IS A GUIDE FOR BEGINNERS! We don't get level 25 runes.
