  • Good evening everyone and happy Thursday! Thanks for stopping by my channel to check out this video! As the title says we are answering the age old question, what’s inside!? And to find out we’re going to be cutting agatized rugosa coral fossils from Kentucky! If you’re not sure what a rugosa is, think of a Horn Coral, except this type grew in colonies!
We cut a handful of other little chunks I collected while down in Kentucky and we wind up finding a wee bit of Kentucky agate! Which is always a pleasant surprise! So be sure to stick around until the end of the video to catch the slide show out in the sun!

Thank you Brother, Nice finds... I believe that last piece, on another channel was called a No Toes... I have one very similar that shook itself free from the ground not to long ago... Yours seems to have been in water for who knows how long lol hence the appearance... Nice finds

Love the video. I'm new to Rockhounding (I'm 69 and retired) and live in Richmond, KY just 25 miles South of Lexington very near I-75. A couple of weeks ago I scored 67 geodes of various sizes from a private property and had a blast. The owner was very happy to give me permission when I told her I was going to crack them open for our 16 grandchildren and let them pick their favorites. Where in KY did you pick yours up from this video? I'm hoping it was a public river/stream where I can do some exploring. I have a tile saw and I want the kids to pick a rock for cutting. When I cut it I want to emphasize that they are the first person in the whole world to see what's inside. I heard that comment from one of the many Rockhound channels I subscribe to and thought it was perfect way to get our grandkids interested in geology. I've been a subscriber to your channel for a little while. Last week I bought a soil Pipe Cutter off of Craigslist and used one of your videos to figure out how to use it! 👍👍👍👍👍

How awesome! So glad to hear that my videos have helped you! And the fact that noones seen inside of them before is one of my favorite things about them! Natures Easter eggs is what I call em! I always hunted in Kentucky with a buddy of mine, but the public place we hunted that I can recall is in Stanford in the green river. There were a couple places along the road that ran next to it where you could pull off and park and collect! Check out my rockhounding the green river video to get an idea of the spot I’m talking about! Welcome to the community and hobby! You’re gonna love it!

I’ll have to give you a piece of the St. Louis Acrocyathus coral… it’s really cool! I’m currently tumbling a piece. I think the St. Louis coral is even prettier than some of the similar looking stuff from Indonesia I’ve seen!

That second piece! The rugosa colony looks like it's going to polish up real nice. I brought a few of those home from Kentucky.
