- So one of my Subscribers emailed me wanting to do a rock trade but said he was new to how it worked. So I explained some different ways of trading and we decided to go with a mystery rock box to keep things interesting. He should be receiving my box in a few days. In this video I’m unboxing everything Dan sent to me, which I can tell you he sent some cool fossils and rock you must watch. I hope you enjoy..

I live really close to Elizabethtown. Just discovered geode hunting. Would love to try it out.
They looked like flint or chert
Which ones?
I’m glad you liked the box! My daughter said I was famous because the rocks I found were on your video😄🤣😄
Lol that’s awesome, how old is she if that’s ok to ask?
@@RockHoundingAdventures hi, she’s 8
My 5 year old daughter said the same too, it was fun.
@@dandickinson1003 that’s adorable
@@dandickinson1003 maybe I can make something with one of your stones you sent me and can send it back to you for them.
Ragnar ❤️ fossils
Thanks for watching nan
I had tons of almost all the stones and fossils. A lot with the whole fossilized creature but I havnt been to the house I kept them in located in breathitt County since the flood. The entire house was lost so it would be a miracle to find any of them when I do return
I live in Glasgow Kentucky always loved rocks but this year started getting into it a lot don’t really know where to go but my sister Stepdaughter know some really cool places they said I’ll have to check them out one day
Nice well in your area if you find public access to creaks, Rivers, and lakes you can find fossils on the banks just watch out for national parks like mammoth cave land is off limits and is illegal to collect from. If see rich iron dirt that is like burnt orange I’ve found fossils like horned coral around Glasgow. If you head south east on Glasgow Rd to Marrowsbone Bone, the creeks in that area have a ton, of fossils and geodes. Check any Roadcuts in your area for fossils. If you ever travel up to Maysville you can find a lot up there.
Hope this info is useful
Check out the RUclips channel “Created Rocks with Dan The Rock Man” Dan is the one that sent me this trade and he recently started a RUclips channel. I gave him some spot up around E-Town and Louisville that he made videos at you can check out if ever in that area.
I'm very close to e-town I'm in shep always looking for new spots
im in menifee county and completely new to the area, but this is something that i love doing and im looking for areas to check out
I liked the video! Thanks for telling me some of the things I’ve found. I didn’t know their names. Cool !
Your welcome, I’m always here to help.
little late but just found vid.. many of what your calling Calcite or calcite geodes are in fact quartz geodes.
Great Video, super cool Geodes and Fossils.
Thanks
I'm a Michigan girl and that one fossilized coral has Petoskey stone characteristics. Very interesting!! I am a avid Petoskey stone hunter and it just calls to me when I see it, and I see it there!! I love fossils so much.
I think my favorite piece was the calcite formation. It reminds me of a stalagtite/-mite in progress or something similar! Then again, I'm a big fan of crinoids.
Yeah that calcite definitely is a cool piece. Then Crinoids also very interesting in my books because they are recorded back to the Cambrian Period which is around 530ma (million years old) and still have survived through time evolving while still in today’s oceans. Very cool
Nice box of rocks and fossils. I find tiny crinoids in rocks but never large pieces like what you showed at the end. Enjoyed watching :)
Thanks, I will keep that in mind so if we ever do a rock trade in the future 😊. Thanks for watching
I found a bunch of crinoids recently
Very cool rocks!
Thanks man, just a heads up I did get your email and will try to respond by tomorrow.
Thanks for watching
@@RockHoundingAdventures Cool man, no worries. I was out on the southern Oregon beaches today acquiring some awesome rocks and enjoying the 60+ Degree weather! Scored some awesome heliodor and a some sweet jaspers, fossils, and agates! I have lots of relatives in Ohio county KY around Beaver Dam and such! Heck I have kin all through Kentucky, lol. Never got to rockhound much though in that area.
I think some may where made by people sitting and hanging out
The one fossil that looked like netting is bryzoin! ✌
Oh nice thanks, I’ve always wondered that but has been hard to research it.
My family and I are going to Kentucky this weekend any tips we went to a place south of Sanford,KY. We got about 180lb of geodes
I'm in elizabethtown, what huntin spots do you have here.
I'm in the etown/colesburg area. Any good spots you know of?
Yeah definitely, send me a email rock_hounding_adventures@yahoo.com
I’m in Western Ky (true western KY) not the western Ky that ppl call Western (which is really Central). Any places you could recommend more western from Elizabethtown. I’ve collected rocks all of my life, just recently figured out there is a name for us “Rockhounds” lol I can’t identify many of them, wish I could. Thank you so much for sharing your education. Looking forward to following you. Anyone else in this area I’d love any information you can share with me. Like southern Illinois, northwest Tn eastern Missouri. Where to search? What I could find? Groups to follow. Thanks in advance.
Oh cool, send me a email and I will give you some of my spots and good information.
My email is rock_hounding_adventures@yahoo.com. (just saw my email address was incorrect. Just fixed it)
@@RockHoundingAdventures I tried to email you with no luck. Hello, my name is Harry. My wife, 10year old son and I are on a trip to mammoth cave (my son developed an interest in caves and minerals) and picked up a KY geode from a gentleman at a roadside stand. We went back to the campground and broke it open, he loved it, and asked if we could find one since it’s local. I searched a bit on RUclips and saw that you had offered assistance to a couple of people, and was hoping that you might help us as well, and point us to a spot. I saw mention of Glasgow, but really have no idea, where to go there. We wouldn’t take much, just a couple, we head back to NJ in a few days. Thanks for your consideration.
@@harrystratton941 shoot me a email at rock_hounding_adventures@yahoo.com. I have a spot about an hour from Glasgow where you can find up to softball size. It's a beautiful drive through the country.
@@harrystratton941 also since your son is interested there is another cave near by in I think Cave City called Horse Cave. I meant to check that one out as well before I moved but it seamed really interesting.
@@harrystratton941 if you can email me at rock_hounding_adventures@yahoo.com I will give you a place to checkout, otherwise if not I hope you found a spot to find them and yall are having a great time. Maybe later I can send some cool minerals from Colorado. Rock on ..
1l sending you my rock.what is it? Kentucky
Picture
Where will you be sending it?
Nice video. I just moved to Danville, Kentucky any area you would recommend me going? any things I should know about laws etc you could point me in the right direction. Thank you.
Man I'm new to this stuff and need a little advise and tips
I think those one fossils are the interior parts of cephalopods. I forget what they’re called. Heads up everything I sent you is wrapped AF! I scuffed too many pieces I found on a couple of my first collecting trips!!! 😭
Cool I’ll look that up. And wrapping stuff up well is great I don’t mind that at all. Helps protect the stones. Lol it’s all good... I like too many pieces 😜😁
Do you by any chance know any areas near the Nashville area in ky?
please message me with the cool spots :) Thank you. Love your videos
Warsaw maybe where you went. Not sure but I know western ky is pretty much junk imo except Paducah, Marion around there. But the best rocks are found the farther East you go
What makes you say that Western Ky is junk? I ask in all sincerity as I'm from Western Ky (live in Maine right now). We are heading back to W Ky this summer & I was hoping to do rockhounding. I've never found an arrowheads, nor had anyone else I knew. Apparently arrowheads & other Native artifacts are lying all over the commonwealth but sadly I have never found one in my 40yrs of Ky living. So that makes me think you are correct in saying W Ky is junk for rocks/fossils as I had yet to see any. But wanted to see if there is more I should know. Thanks a lot!!
@@doobiecfoogle I'm not gonna act like I know everything about geology but apparently (in my area Henderson) during the last ice age there was a huge ice sheet that basically ground everything down to dust along the Ohio and green river. But like I said Paducah, Marion and southern Illinois are some good places to hunt. I've found a good rocks there but not much here at home
@@JoeNathan42420 Thanks so very much! That actually makes sense. Def got me interested in more info about the area!!!
@@doobiecfoogle awesome 👍 I'd like to go to the Aphs in eastern KY sometime. I hear there's a lot more to pick from. Good luck hounding
What rock app do you use?

Hit me with the info brother etown is my back door

@@RockHoundingAdventures Thank you
I feature you on my website.
Hey be careful with those Kentucky rocks, one rock in there could be their sister. 📢😀 just kidding.....
I can tell that joke, Because I am a real Kentucky colonel.
Oh cool thanks, lol about Kentucky rocks 😂. Oh cool your from Kentucky? I was actually thinking about you yesterday.. was going to send a email.. still will. Thought you may of deactivated your RUclips acc.
@@RockHoundingAdventures oh no.. Lol this is just a troll account to dethrone king donny. It's done now but I have many accounts. 😀 I'm digging a small quartz pocket but am getting snowed out.
Look out for my new one called.
Davesontherocks.
@@RockHoundingAdventures I owned port Oliver one stop on Barren river lake scottsville Kentucky. Sold gas and had boat storage bait.
I sold premium gas for the bass tournaments. 😀 I retired from Chicago to run a bait shop.
Now I'm coming out of my retirement again!. I am only 62!
You'll never be done opening boxes!!
Lol 😂 I know that’s what it feels like
But I love rocks 😁 and did I say rocks love me too😆
