  • I was going through my iCloud on my phone and found a lot of videos from when I lived in Kentucky in 2019. So I put together a couple clips from one of my Geode locations from road cuts I accidentally found while looking for river access points to find river geodes and fossils. All the fossils found from this area are from the Mississippian Period which range from 358.9 to 346.7 million years old.
If you live in a area where you can find fossils I highly recommend you downloading the free geology app called “RockD”. It’s a app that has pin point geological map you can help determine from what era your fossils are from and all the info about it with a lot more.
If your interested in checking out a cool geotized brachiopod I found that AgateDad won along time ago, he ended up cutting it open. Here is the link to his video: • CRYSTALS Found Inside ...

@@lynnsboone222 I'm not super familiar with Nelson County, but for road cuts, I usually stop along state routes where the rocks are exposed with places that look safe to pull off on the shoulder. For creeks, public fishing access spots might be a good start. Good luck!

I definitely agree but also agates. I did some hunting over in the camping ground over in Elk Horn near Lake Cumberland.. there is a creek bed back behind the camp spots first come first serve spots and I found lots of Crinoid segments that were more then likely used as native jewelry pieces, lots of golf ball size and smaller geodes and agate nodules. I loved camping there. Shoot me a email and I’ll give you some other spots to check out. Rock_hounding_adventures@yahoo.com

In Radcliff along joe prathnrr hwy you can find gypsum geodesic and fossils in those road cuts. The spot in this video is hours away and a secret spot. But if you head south most geodes are found in river beds and road Cuts along the Tennessee Kentucky border.
Check out Dan's channel called Created Rocks with Dan The Rock Man.
He is in ETown. I gave him a fun spot in Louisville in Pope Lick Park where you can find a bunch of cool fossil brachiopods and fossil coral in a river there. Here is that location: ruclips.net/video/DCWHTELVJTM/видео.html He did a video hunting the gypsum geodes. Around Lake Nolan at some of the parks you can find some cool fossils at. There is also a free camp ground in Elk Horn where you can find small geodes/agate Nodules and crinoids in the creek bed along the camp sites.
