    Dom. I have been watching your channel for quite awhile but this is the first time I have commented. You are such a good mom and teacher. I wish I had a redo button. I had 5 children. We lived on a farm but I never had a garden as big or as cool as yours. I wish I didn’t listen to people telling me I needed a career. I was made to feel inferior for staying home with my children. I went back to school part time when my 4th daughter was 5. Kept going when my son was born just to please other people’s opinions. I wish I would have been strong and told them right where to go. Haha. I would have home schooled like you and tried to live mostly off grid. I am so impressed with you and your family. Your children are so adorable!!! You are so doing the right thing in my old eyes. Ha!

    It’s just so cute having three daughters… It’s like youre the leader of your very own girl club. I am second eldest of four sisters. We followed our mom around everywhere as children, even climbed onto her bed when she got in the bed to rest… we gave her absolutely no personal space 😂😂😂

      @@faithfamilyhomestead You know, u go girls usually stay close to mama - they bring their hubbies around mama and live near mama. Boys drift away, usually following their wives to her mama. It definitely isn’t always this way, but more often than not, it is. Think to everyone you know and how it is - you’ll see.

    :You are going to love your compost bin. You don't have to add worms. They eventually just show up. Every now and then add water to the bin. Just to keep it moist. Also, at times leave the bin doors open to let air in. Don't forget to close at night. If you have soil that is not so good or clay like, put that in the bin too. When the bin fills up. Make a U shaped or three sided square bin to put the rest of your compost materials in to break down, also add water and constantly turn. This will help maintain a constituency of soil mixture throughout your garden. Don't put any compost material in your garden until it has broken down to soil. Maybe down the road you can visit a horse ranch for manure but it has to dry out and mixed with other compost because it can be a bit strong. If the circus is in town. Elephant chips will do just fine. Watch out for chicken poop because like my grand mother used to say. "You done burn up my plants." If you purchase bags of soil. You may want to look into buying a truck load of soil from a garden center because it is cheaper, convenient and won't go to waste. Lastly, if you decide to order a truck load of soil. Get the width measurements of the dump truck. Build a three sided squared wooden bin about four or five feet high and wider that the truck. So when the truck delivers the soil, it just has to dump soil in the bin.

    Here's another idea, vita mix your veggie scraps to see if they will break down faster. Last fall I added my juiced veggie scraps to my flowers and shrubs and they seem to be greener this spring. Good to see the girls again, truly valuable learning experience for themand you're such a gentle Mother.

    Green beans!!!! Make Leather britches!!!! Perfect project for the little girls to manage through the season and super easy way of preserving long term and getting a wonderful product when you cook them up low and slow with a salty and smoky hunk of meat.

      I've never heard of that before. Do you have a recipe?

    • @itslowtide4690
      @itslowtide4690 5 месяцев назад

      @@faithfamilyhomestead there really isn’t a recipe… It goes back to Appalachia and the old country porches and you’d see these long things hanging from the porches of drying green beans… You should really google it as it’s fascinating… The beauty of it is, green beans don’t all come in at the same time. When you make leather britches, you get a long piece of thin string, and keep adding green beans as you harvest them and hang them out of the sun, where there’s coolness and air movement. They will change in color as they dry, but don’t be put off by this… It was a treat to cook them up in the south and they did that at the holidays.

    ❤🌱🫛🥒 you just reminded me I need to start my pickling for Fourth of July 💜I can't remember how your set up is for your chick 🐔one side I did topsoil plain cheap I put their feed and water and the other side shavings. I can't wait to do it again it's too hot here in Florida to start chicks but the soil was so amazing for the new seed starts I started.
    I made a rack to hold up the water and feed out of the mesh wire and framed it out so I can move it into certain areas of the topsoil I used to kidd pool this past fall. I may start doing that for the rabbit cages too

    You can try cucumber and ginger juice or cucumber and celery juice it’s pretty good when very chilled
    I have found that using honey or sugar really alters the flavor but blue agave does not…. I sweeten for kiddos to drink…❤❤❤
